Impressive lifts mitch. I currently run a 4x/week push/pull routine. I workout at home and have a nice rack with upper and lower pulleys, but I don't have a ton of space to deadlift, so I substitute rack pulls. This am was pull:

Upright Rows x 4

Rack Pulls x 4

Standing Barbell Curls x 4

Lateral Raises x 3

Pullups x 4

Push Day:

Squat x 6

Flat Bench x 5

Standing OHP x 4

Face Pulls (I know it's a pull but I want to pair it with OHP) x 3

Dips x 3

Tricep Pressdowns x 2

I don't do a ton of leg work due to the fact that I do a lot of cardio in the form of elliptical, tennis, and even some (#shudder#) running.

Haven't maxed for a while but my maxes are lame compared to your's but decent for a 47 year old guy:

365 squat

275 bench

425 deadlift

Solid lifts

Great for your age

Most people your age can barely lift themselves off the couch!
For sure, too many guys my age neglect resistance training (or any training quite honestly). This actually become way more important as we age. The impact on your physical appearance becomes very much secondary to the health benefits it provides. Although not going to lie, I do like it when the wife comments.

3.5 miles on the treadmill this morning. 1.0 incline, 9:14 pace (6.5).
Nice work. I hate the treadmill. I'm actually much faster outside.
Thank you. I'm not a fan of the treadmill either, but I hate the cold and can't stand running with layers of clothes on. So, any temperature under 35 degrees relegates me to the treadmill.
We are practically brothers CCC2. I also hate to run in the cold and would move to the treadmill when it gets cold. I also hate running in the wind, your thoughts?

Just started working out for the first time in my life. I'm 48 coming up on 49 and have never lifted weights as a regular thing until I started this year. I do a 4 day/wk routine: 2on/1off/2on/2off working different body parts each day. I was doing elliptical on off days but have gotten lazy so that's been a no go for a few weeks. The lifting is working as far as definition and making me feel better but I need to readjust my motivation and get back to at least 2 workout days of cardio and crunches.

My eating habits are my next goal and that starts after the new year. I am not setting myself up for failure.

I will not post my weights as they pale to yuse guys but I'm happy with my progress so far and it does make a difference in your life if you just get off the couch and start doing something. Mental well being is the best thing I've gotten out of this routine.

Keep at it Dutch, it's not how much iron you push, it's the simple fact of pushing the iron that counts. And I agree, the mental satisfaction following a good workout is awesome.

I've fallen into this routine for now. Probably will change it. Trying to add mass but have slacked on the eating part.

Monday - Back

Tues - Squats and 30min cardio + shoulder if time allows

Wed - Chest/Tri

Thurs - Squats and 30min cardio + shoulder if skipped tues

Fri - rest

Sat - Total body split routine, heavier on upper than lower but hit all parts and up tempo

Sun - Major leg day

adding mass ..I would scratch the cardio.

would not do 3 big muscle groups in a row either.

monday - legs

Tuesday - Delts

Wednesday - Arms

Thursday - Back

Friday - Chest

weekends off

Monday: Back

Tuesday: shoulders

Wednesday: legs

Thursday: chest

Friday: arms.

Saturday: abs

20-40 minutes cardio after each workout

More of a maintenance routine...high reps low to moderate weight. Trying to get lean

I can go much longer duration on the weekends. 60-90 minutes no trouble. Weekdays don't got that kind of time.

If you want to add mass bench/squat/deadlifts 5x each every other day.

Squeezing in shoulder press, pullups, bent row occasionally.

This is basically what I do when I'm really pushing. A 5x5 with occasional accessory lifts as time allows.

Monday: chest (light weight, hi reps) and legs

Tuesday: biceps and triceps

Wednesday: shoulders and back

Thursday: chest (heavier weight, lower reps) and legs

Every day do some planks or some other sort of ab/core work. Also if time permits, will do some box jumps, or body weight lunges.

I have about 35 minutes to actually lift during lunch, leaving time for a quick shower and get back to the office, so I don't rest much between sets :30 - :60 usually. I rotate in different exercises and also change the order of the exercises I do from week to week, just to spice it up.

mine split currently is

Squat

off

bench

shoulders

off

deadlift

upper body accessory day.

the 3 main lifts are done heavy every 10-14 days

too much to do to often

end of just getting weaker and injury.

split is going to change too

Monday - Accesory day.

wednesday - bench/bench accesory

friday - squat and deadlift and acceories

alternating heavy/light deads

example

if i squat heavy; i deadlift light...etc

You better be on some kind of awesome "supplements" to pull off this workout. It takes me a couple of days just to recover from squats and deads.

Even with supps

3x a week each is insane

Could not deadlift over 500 3x a week

My coach and other national champs 7-14 days rest in between

And we don't slack on the supplement part

That's all I'll say

3x a week would be sub maximal training

Sheiko not linear programming aka adding 10-15 lbs per week to each lift

My advice was geared more towards the Eminences of the ffa who have little mass & are doing biceps. Doing Bench/Squat/Deadlift every other day is entirely possible if you work out regularly & are doing 5 reps.

I don't think anyone in here besides Mitch is an actual power lifter. Hell, I heard some power lifters take 45-hour warming up before doing a working set of 1 exercise.

Lol I take 10 mins in between sets haha

Warm up for squat went

135x10

225x5

315x2

405x1

8 min rest

455x1

10 min rest

505x2

I listen to the same exact song every time for the main sets

That song repeats 2-3 times before I'm ready.

Killswitch engaged - end the heartache!

Really just rest as long as you need to take to get ready.

PS smelling salts work great ( nose tork)

Still way too much volume for the big lifts. Stronglifts 5 x 5 (perhaps The beginner workout) recommends an A and B workout where you would do 2 of the big 3 in workout A, and the other in workout B. You alternate between workouts A and B for a total of 3 workouts per week.

If I could squat 225x10 I'd be really happy. I did 5x5 and highest 5RM I got was 205 squat and 245 DL. Both of those about killed me. I can't even imagine what those feel like to walk off the rack. I halfway wonder if I could even get 505 off the rack.

Just takes timeMy weights are nothing special man.

When I took the 505 off..I told myself this is going to be easy.

You can tell how it's gonna feel by how heavy it feels on your back.

Doug young is my favorite powerlifter

I want to reach his numbers

700+ squat and dead

500+ bench

The only downside I see is that I'll never catch you in likes if I do that. Hot on your heels as is.
