WR Antonio Brown, FA (4 Viewers)

I thought when this story first broke I heard that using a fake vax card was a felony. Has anyone heard any more on that? If true, and that is what he did, it seems like a 3 game suspension might not be his only concern.
I'm guessing the NFL said if you don't appeal we won't report this to the proper authorities.

This federal offense talk is not inaccurate but seriously overblown IMO.

I seriously doubt the feds are going to single out and  pursue charges on AB or the other players on Tampa but just let the NHL player Evander Kane skate free.

I read up on this a few weeks ago and basically the feds are not focused on people using fake vaccination cards. Their focus is on people in the business of creating and selling them. There are some states, but Florida is not one of them, that are aggressive in some cases against people simply using the fake vaccination card.

Bucs head coach Bruce Arians said Antonio Brown's future with the team has not "been decided."

Arians said he wouldn't comment on Brown or teammate Mike Edwards, both of whom were suspended for three games after faking their COVID-19 vaccination cards. Brown's chef gave him up after the mercurial receiver allegedly refused to pay him for his work. Arians, who said last year that he wouldn't tolerate slip-ups from Brown, seems to be at least considering parting ways with Tom Brady's recruit. Brown's absence from Tampa's lineup will continue stabilizing opportunity and production for Chris Godwin and Mike Evans.

I don't know of a single location in Florida where you have to present your vaccination card to enter or move about. 🤷‍♂️

-Forget fake ones, people don't use the real ones issued to them, I haven't had to show mine anywhere...YET! But I am planning on traveling and that's primarily my selfish reason for getting it, also wanted to make sure and not kill anyone by spreading it to folks who can't fight it off.

@Capella Is my observation of Florida and the vaccine cards correct? We don't have to show them anywhere that i know of.

Yeah I agree. I used to be active duty USN and we would joke about how getting a (bad) sunburn could be construed as damage to government property and that you could be prosecuted for it.

It is possible but it is just never gonna happen. They have bigger fish to fry. Though a fake vax card is orders of magnitude worse in my book than some things. But still.

Forging and filing government documents is punishable by up to 5 years in prison. That will never happen (unless someone is brokering a ton of fake cards and getting rich off of it). The chances anyone pursues that against AB are slim to none (if not invisible).

As far as AB goes, like other players that get in trouble, the Bucs run the risk that if they cut him, a playoff competitor could sign him. Even if he were not to play much, Brown could still provide intel on Tampa's plays and formations. It's not in their best interest to release him.

The Bucs could save a few bucks by not playing Brown. He is due a game day bonus of $53,000 for each game he is active. With one more TD (5 total) he would get $333,333 and another $333,333 if he hit 7 TDs. Similarly, in another 182 yards he would receive $333,333 and another $333,333 if he added 382 yards. Same thing if he were to get another 21 receptions.

If the Bucs really are left with a bad taste in their mouth, the likelihood is they just let the season run out and be done with him. Some other team could deal with him next year.

What's with this dude and not paying people?   Guy's a millionaire who's under the microscope and can't just make payments for a chef?  Idiot.

He just doesn't pay. He's getting sued by a marketing company for not paying them for endorsements. There have been stories about him not paying for aquariums, piranhas, legal fees, moving and transportation, training, other food and cooking expenses, and probably a couple of more I can't remember.

If Brown were to be investigated and charged with a felony, he could end up in hot water as he is still on probation for assaulting a delivery driver.

He needs an accountant to just handle all his payments for him.  The fact that Brady hasn't made sure he's got one was an oversight on the Goat's part.

Going forward is it worth carrying AB even if you are a playoff team? He will return for the second week of the playoffs, but I can't see how anyone can use him in that game. After that he will be able to play in the SB after one week of usage. Basically, he may (or may not) have some value for the SB.

I am holding for that scenario.  Sure, it might not play out that way but my waiver wire has nothing else appealing so why not?

Arians is such a blowhard.  We know who runs this team.  I wish he'd just shut up.

Exactly.

I think he'll play this kinda cute though to both appease Brady, the locker room, and the media. Week 16, make him practice, but then he's inactive. Then week 17 he's active, but only gets his feet wet.

Then come playoff time AB is back in full swing.

Yeah, I get it.  But, so does everyone else.  It makes him look disingenuous.  If Tom wants AB he'll have AB.  Arians has no say in the matter other than this ridiculous posturing in the media.

I don't think Tom is going to allow that and I'm being serious.  When AB returns he'll have had 2.5 months off and Tom is going to anxious to get him back on the field and get his timing back, plus AB likely needs the last few weeks to get his conditioning back. Then add to that Tampa is in battle for the top seed.

I'd be stunned if he's not active in week 16.

Bucs offense is probably the best in the league but they’ve struggled some on third downs. AB will be back assuming he’s healthy and he’ll clean up the third and 6 issues.

Arians is a blow hard who has to posture to look like he’s in control.

I agree with most here. The time to release AB if they plan to do so would be at seasons end not while on another Super Bowl run. ABs routes are sooo value to Tom to keep drives alive.

I agree it would be odd for them to have him inactive.  They will want a couple weeks to get him back in the flow.  That being said he will be getting back in the flow.  I doubt I would have the guts to start him in our playoffs.

He's a free agent.  It's so ridiculous for Bruce to act like he hasn't made a decision yet on Brown's "status."  Tom Brady isn't going to let Arians release his blankey right before the playoffs because of a fake vaccination card.

Is the contemplation of AB's release based on a moral imperative?

If so, why would such an event be based on convenience?

Asking for a friend.

This dude is about to explode the next couple weeks for sure… 15+ targets on fresh legs next week with no Evan’s or Godwin… Championship mode

And a pissed off TB to boot vs. a Panthers team that has quit.

Huh. If I pull off the win this week (fingers crossed, dead heat right now with each having one player left) he'll replace my Godwin off of the IR. I can probably just do a toggle switch, even.

I sound flippant, but the whole thing, from his emotional and spiritual troubles, to Godwin's new injury, is just a bummer of a reminder about pro sports and the mercenary-style, fleeting aspect of them. Arians said all along, "one screw up." He has no power, never did. This is run by Brady and everybody knows it, and knew it.

Bucs head coach Bruce Arians said the team will "welcome back" Antonio Brown after his three-game suspension for faking a COVID-19 vaccination card.

Arians said Brown and S Mike Edwards, who were suspended by the NFL for presenting fake COVID vaccination cards -- potentially a federal crime -- had "served their time" and would return to the team in Week 16. It should come as no surprise as Arians has ignored sexual misconduct allegations against Brown for the past couple years. Brown, Tom Brady's longtime friend and confidant, could return to a target-hog role in the Tampa offense if Chris Godwin (knee) and Mike Evans (hamstring) miss time. Even if Evans can play in Week 16 -- Godwin is not expected to suit up -- Brown should be considered a high-end WR2 against Carolina.

I'd label him top 5 for ROS but hardly seems bold since he was WR6 when he went out. Personally only WR I'd take over him for sure is Kupp and I'd mull AB in the Jefferson, Hill, Adams mix.

Godwin owner here who actually first drafted Godwin in round 4 and missed out on getting AB as he was sniped just before a pick.

So of course, that AB owner dropped him YESTERDAY.

I'm the top seed and will be facing the lowest seed left who will no doubt target AB in waivers.

I hate this hobby.

given the injuries and covid cases I suspect there are MANY desperate owners looking for any help possible.  I've lost Ridley, AJ Brown, Elijah Moore, Toney and Godwin.  I'd happily take my shot if I can snag Brown off waivers.

The way this season has gone, everybody will have huge expectations for Brown, and what will happen is his presence will open things up for Gronk to have a huge game and Brown will have something like 7-90.

Have Brown in one of my deep 16 team dynasty leagues and desperately need him back.

AJ Brown and Woods have been hurt for weeks now and my best healthy WR are Claypool, Julio, and Treadwell.
Huntley, Andrews, and Kelce carried me through  this week.

Nothing bad about it, just that it would fall short of "league winner" status.
First game back, I think expectations of having WR1 #s is unrealistic. Week 17 vs the Jets more realistic (although knowing Brady/Gronk history vs Jets, I think Gronk will be the real league winner).

im not worried...he's always been one of the best conditioned guys in the league

Speaking Wednesday, Bruce Arians told reporters that Antonio Brown is "fine" and looks like he did before injuring his ankle.

Brown's ankle injury appeared to be fairly severe, given that he was seen on crutches and in a walking boot following the injury. Brown's injury was all the way back in Week 6 however. He likely would have already returned had he not been suspended for the last three games for violating NFL-NFLPA COVID-19 protocols. With Chris Godwin (knee) out for the season and Mike Evans (hamstring) unlikely to play, a healthy Brown would be a major boost for the Buccaneers passing offense. Brown profiles as a low-end WR1 if Evans is out of the lineup.

Godwin out

Evans gimpy

Damn right expectations are high

AB will be force fed from the GOAT.  with the carnage at WR I'd have to think he's definitely a top 10 wr this week.
