Were there 49er fans in here saying Cooper is better? As soon as he signs with the 49ers, all the SF fans are going to be in here saying how much better he is than Amari Cooper now lol
Close!HSG did we make your 3 page prediction?
I believe I suggested a case could be made based on Cooper having 1000+ yards in 4 of the last 5 seasons. All I saw was a few 49er fans saying Cooper wouldn't be a huge downgrade from Aiyuk and if SF got him in a trade they wouldn't hate it.
In my opinion he did the Niners (meant to say browns) a big favor.Via Matt Maiocco, Aiyuk put the kibosh on a deal that would have sent Aiyuk to the Browns for receiver Amari Cooper, a second-round pick, and a fifth-round pick.
I woulda loved it as a Cooper shareholder who’s also a 49er fan.In my opinion he did the Niners a big favor.Via Matt Maiocco, Aiyuk put the kibosh on a deal that would have sent Aiyuk to the Browns for receiver Amari Cooper, a second-round pick, and a fifth-round pick.
Also did the Browns a massive favorIn my opinion he did the Niners a big favor.Via Matt Maiocco, Aiyuk put the kibosh on a deal that would have sent Aiyuk to the Browns for receiver Amari Cooper, a second-round pick, and a fifth-round pick.
I completely typed that wrong. He did the BROWNS a huge favor. My bad. I think after all the drama if the Niners could have landed that deal they would have been thrilled.
What does this even mean? I guess that he was unwilling to sign a long term deal with Cleveland?Via Matt Maiocco, Aiyuk put the kibosh on a deal that would have sent Aiyuk to the Browns for receiver Amari Cooper, a second-round pick, and a fifth-round pick.
Right, that's why I said I don't know the structure but I'm pretty sure it was a stout offer.Don't know structure but Dianna Russini is reporting that NE offered him $32.5M a year and worked out the trade with SF which was already reported.
Multiple thoughts on that if true but my main one as a Steeler's fan is nervousness. I want no part of that deal.
Those kind of numbers are meaningless without the details. Agents throw in bogus last year numbers to prop up the average.

My guess is it’s still in Aiyuk’s best interest to get as much guaranteed money as possible, and having the Browns involved could force the Steelers to up their contract offer to Aiyuk.I don’t get it. Am I missing something? If Aiyuk had no intention of going to Cleveland, why did he let his agent and SF take it this far?
The Athletic reported the Steelers are offering him less $$ than the Niners, so he must really love Tomlin.
Or he’s using the Steelers as leverage to stay in SF.The Athletic reported the Steelers are offering him less $$ than the Niners, so he must really love Tomlin.
Seems like the Niners aren’t sure what they want to do here
That doesn't sound like a lot. If true, SF might be leaking this stuff as it's kinda doing 2 things at once. It makes him look like theunreasonableone. And maybe it generates more interested teams. If they are asking for 2nd and 3rd 2025...maybe they'd take 2025 and 2026 2nds. He is definitely worth that.
Maybe but if they aren't offering as much money, it's not ideal leverage.Or he’s using the Steelers as leverage to stay in SF.The Athletic reported the Steelers are offering him less $$ than the Niners, so he must really love Tomlin.
He’s definitely worth more than that. And in the context of their roster especially.maybe they'd take 2025 and 2026 2nds. He is definitely worth that.
The report said the deal included 2 draft picks, meaning in addition to a starting player. If the 49ers settle for 2x 2nds for Aiyuk I’m gonna be livid
That actually does sound like a dynasty trade.Cooper + 2nd + 5th ????
Thank you, Brandon. Thank you.

Update on Brandon Aiyuk:-- The Steelers and #49ers have a deal on a potential trade and PIT is in a good place on an Aiyuk contract, sources say. If SF gives the final sign-off, it's done.-- SF has an offer out to Aiyuk on a long-term deal for him to stay. He hasn't accepted.
I just want to see Aiyuk get what he deserves really. I hope it works out for him.x.com

You should bring Ricky’s credibility on to the FBG staff.
Really hype him up & boost FBG’s profile by making him a featured dude.
Color me skeptical, still.x.com

LOL. That would be awesome but I'm sure I can't afford him.
There are tons of theories on who he actually is. He was getting draft selections before they were in this year. It's wild.
Both. The question is, does Wilson/Fields diminish Aiyuk, or does Aiyuk elevate Wilson/Fields?
The former. The question is, does Wilson/Fields diminish Aiyuk, or does Aiyuk elevate Wilson/Fields?
The 1st part. The question is, does Wilson/Fields diminish Aiyuk, or does Aiyuk elevate Wilson/Fields?
I think they could weather the storm at WR. Deebo is capable of more targets, perhaps so is Jennings. They seem to like Bell, and maybe Gray becomes something, at least as a clearout guy.Color me skeptical, still.
That whole “make 100 predictions & delete the 99 incorrect ones” doesn’t sit well with me.
I’m also a little skeptical that the PIT deal is happening. With Pearsall hurt, that would leave the Niners pretty thin at WR, and I don’t believe Robbie Chosen moves the needle, though he was hilarious in Scary Movie.
I'd bet on Aiyuk helping to elevate, but not being his 2023 self fantasy wise. The question is, does Wilson/Fields diminish Aiyuk, or does Aiyuk elevate Wilson/Fields?
Jennings isn't the best route runner. Reportedly one reason they drafted Pearsall is that they needed a 2nd crisp route runner so that Shanny's misdirection would be more effective to open things up for Deebo & CMC out the backfield.I think they could weather the storm at WR. Deebo is capable of more targets, perhaps so is Jennings. They seem to like Bell, and maybe Gray becomes something, at least as a clearout guy.
Totally agree about Kittle, and he becomes significantly more compelling if Aiyuk is gone.I will say, one of the great tragedies of our numbers obsessed era when it comes to HOF cases has been George Kittle. I'd argue he's been better than Kelce this whole time, he just hasn't been targeted at the same level. If Aiyuk goes, maybe we get the 140 target Kittle that we've missed out on.
I'm not going to disagree with any of these 3 points. However, I don't see the Steelers going pass-heavy all of a sudden, and quite a bit of their passing are dump-offs to the running back, IIRC. Strikes me that Aiyuk might struggle to get the same numbers with Pickens on the other side, and a reduced passing volume.I'd bet on Aiyuk helping to elevate, but not being his 2023 self fantasy wise.
Most would agree that Aiyuk is better than DJ Moore, who just went for 96-1364-8 with mostly Fields at QB.
Everyone would argue Aiyuk is better than Sutton, who just 10 TDs with Wilson.
If this is only draft picks it makes SF worse short term but maybe better down the road. Reverse for Pitt.Both.The question is, does Wilson/Fields diminish Aiyuk, or does Aiyuk elevate Wilson/Fields?
He's lucky he plays in the NFL instead of the MLB. MLB HOF inductions are (mostly) based on stats. NFL HOF inductions are based on narrative. So Kittle may have a shot, especially if SF wins a title or two before he retires.
I will say, one of the great tragedies of our numbers obsessed era when it comes to HOF cases has been George Kittle.
Also of just parroting what an agent tells him regardless of whether there's any truth to it. The amount of time he spends fact-checking is close to zero.but then Rappaport has a long history of being wrong as well.
Fair on Jennings. I was thinking of him just as more of an acceptable bridge to Pearsall being the #2 and being capable of being that guy for at least the early part of the season.Jennings isn't the best route runner. Reportedly one reason they drafted Pearsall is that they needed a 2nd crisp route runner so that Shanny's misdirection would be more effective to open things up for Deebo & CMC out the backfield.I think they could weather the storm at WR. If Aiyuk leaves, that puts the 49ers back into the position of needing a 2nd crisp route runner, AND depending on a rookie to be that guy.

Yep, this too. And when it comes to these situations, agents leaking rumors seems to drive a lot of narratives. Also of just parroting what an agent tells him regardless of whether there's any truth to it. As a Fields shareholder in 2 leagues, I certainly hope you're right about that, especially if Aiyuk goes to PIT.The Steelers are likely cutting down on checkdown throws a lot with the new OC who is a fan of PA and deep shots, as opposed to the old OC who was a fan of...being clueless on how to call plays, and hoping for the best? I think that is also why Fields is getting a long look (which I think happens regardless of Wilson's injury) as he throws a nice deep ball. I don't think the Steelers become pass heavy, but I do think they are attempting to challenge a lot more vertically, and all of their moves (OC, QB, OL, and if it happens Aiyuk) point to that direction.

I think Chris Conley is the closest SF has to Aiyuk at the moment. I'm not saying he's as good, or that hes a plug in replacement, but the way he runs his routes reminds me of Aiyuk and he has good hands.Jennings isn't the best route runner. Reportedly one reason they drafted Pearsall is that they needed a 2nd crisp route runner so that Shanny's misdirection would be more effective to open things up for Deebo & CMC out the backfield.

It's Russell Wilson's job.As a Fields shareholder in 2 leagues, I certainly hope you're right about that, especially if Aiyuk goes to PIT.The Steelers are likely cutting down on checkdown throws a lot with the new OC who is a fan of PA and deep shots, as opposed to the old OC who was a fan of...being clueless on how to call plays, and hoping for the best? I guess you can't blame them for asking. Could not reject fast enough.NFL Rumors is saying Niners want Minka Fitz back so that’s probably why this is taking so long. Steelers are trying to stop laughing long enough to reject the proposal.
