Assuming this happens this will place what I viewed as the two most under utilized WR's in the NFL on the same offense. One led by Arthur Smith. Amazing.
They will have two WR's who combined for 2,482 yards on just 211 targets. That's 11.76 yards a target, not a catch, per target. Wowza!
And still my excitement level for both of those WR's is not high, only consolation I can come up with is from a target perspective it probably can't be worse.

In 0.5ppr, bro had over 1k receiving last year and was TE5 (4pts away from being TE2). Currently being drafted as TE6 in the 6th round. Already a steal.

If Deebo stays healthy for all the games, they can win without Aiyuk, for sure.
And Shanahan is one of those guys I feel can score plenty of points with creativity. Maybe it's the same idea as Reid without Tyreek. Maybe you don't need a $30 mill receiver with a stud defense and an efficient offense.

Raider fans have theories why he is not wanted, but we should assume at this point that one of these theories is correct, and legitimate. Guy hasn't even gotten a sniff.
Deebo and Kittle will get bumped, but probably more then they should. Aiyuk only absorbed about 6 targets a game and no doubt opened things up for everyone on the team. Kittle got off last year when Deebo was out, not sure this will be the same impact. Plus I think SF will make a move at WR. For me mild bump for them, I think the market will go a little over mild. Kind of a shame as I was higher on both then market, especially Kittle in BB, now they might get overpriced for me.Deebo Samuel

Pickens should be what he was last year. Which in that sense is ok but super disappointing on thought he'd take a leap. I know some people think he benefits greatly from adding Aiyuk. In real life, yes. He's probably not a nuanced enough route runner that he can't be taken out of games and now that won't be as much of a focus. Aiyuk will get targetted more then he was in SF, but still not what I'd think of as a high volume role and no way on gods green earth will he be nearly as efficient. Taking time to learn a new offense is not ideal, but long story short I don't think the Steelers commit what they do for Aiyuk without intention of utilizing him, ASM offense or not, and I'm status quo on his value vs if he had remained in SF next season, lower on dynasty value though and lower on my value for him in a general sense because there are some teams he could have been traded to I'd have been much higher and I had built that into his price.
Big boom for Najee and Warren IMO with the way the Pickens/Aiyuk duo will open things up. And of course whoever is the starting QB, which I firmly believe is Wilson to start.
Big headache or super exciting for fantasy people depending on how you view it. This creates a ripple effect of analyzing different values but I don't think we are done and expect SF to eventually make a trade for a WR and this to set off an entire fantasy domino. Assuming this trade goes down.

I get it. I meant more situational then box score. Meaning how much coverage did he pull on the plays he didn't receive a catch? He is a guy u have to game plan for as a defensive coordinator. I'm not a Niners fan and dont come close to having your knowledge, but he is a great player and something will be missed. Still an elite team, I'm not saying that at all.

For sure he's not right yet. He's already won on this. He was saying PIT from the get and lots of people called him a clown and it looks like it could be PIT. Sure, SF could change that prediction. Rickey isn't omnipotent. But he was right in PIT was making a big play there. If Aiyuk signs with SF (which I think is more likely than a move) none of that changes for how much attention the NFL world pays to him on the next thing.
But he was already there on that.

Not really, no - many have called out the absolute fact that he originally gave a very specific time-frame, and a specific package and compensation. That time frame came and went, and his response was to back off of it. And he's gone on to definitely state other time-frames and back off of those.
Now he's patting himself on the back because it might happen at a completely different time and for a different package? Cmon.
Anyone can throw spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks. He wasn't the 1st to say PIT, literally every source out there listed the Steelers as one of the potential trade targets, along with NEP & CLE. And reportedly both NEP & CLE were involved originally, so he wasn't even right from the jump.

They’ve had the framework for a deal in place a couple times. If they wanted to trade him, and he really wanted to walk away from one of the best rosters in the NFL, it would have happened by now.
Aiyuk is attempting to thread a pretty thin needle; right price for him, AND for a culture he thinks he fits, AND a contender (presumably but maybe not - see DeVante Adams definition of greatness in Receiver) AND at a commiserate return for San Francisco.
Easiest path for everyone is working out a deal & then figuring out who needs a simple restructure to make it fit under the cap.
Just looking at their biggest cap hits this year, and different deals that kick in next year, they could clear in excess of $35M in 2024 and $42M in 2025 through simple restructures. Doesn't require the players permission; does require the owner to get out the checkbook.
I think the entirety of the NFL fanbase is over this whole affair. Just get it done so everyone can get back to work. Or as is the case of anyone still reading, back to drafting,

If he is on the fence, I'm guessing it comes down to the guaranteed money. This per year thing is for the media.
If the contracts are similar, but PIT is offering 10 mil more guaranteed, you have to think about it. If he chooses PIT, I am sure we will hear that SF offered similar. But without knowing exactly what the guarantees are, it's a bit pointless.
I'm sure he's prefer to stay. Maybe it's just how much money he is willing to give up.

Cool. I’ve said that since day 1. The difference is I didn’t declare myself right about it before it was confirmed, nor have I referred to myself in the 3rd person while peacocking about it before it’s confirmed.
And ya know, if BA does stay in SF, I won’t do it then, either.
The rush to be 1st should never be prioritized over the diligence to be accurate. We don’t all have to agree about that though.

I never understood why people care (not you massraidrer) about who gets the scoop. It’s not like Schefter/others are doing some Pulitzer-level investigating. Seems like something those in media care about waaaaay more than the public. Maybe it’s just me?
As if without Schefter’s reporting we wouldn’t find out until week 1 that Aiyuk is actually donning a Patriots helmet!

Feels like a product of a bygone era. With the internet now in everyone's pocket, "getting the scoop" first doesn't really mean anything when it'll be on 100 different pages seconds after being reported. I guess there's merit to being the guy with the sources (Schefty's bread an butter) but even then those don't seem as valuable anymore.

My take is that Aiyuk going to Pitt all depends on what SF gets back besides the draft pick. Outside of Persall they don't have much on the roster at WR (the ghost of Chris Conley is there and a few other "who?" kind of players), so they may have to go shopping. Miami has some guys on their bubble that could help (second or third day pick kind of people) or a guy like Noah Brown on the Texans would be interesting (I'm looking at guys on the Shanny tree here). Lynch isn't afraid to trade for guys and with the extra capital they get from Pitt they could go shopping as well.
Assuming the NFC wouldn't trade with them unless the team was planning on tanking (For instance, Green Bay has more WRs than they need but they'd be idiots to trade one to san fran), but Las Vegas could be an option for either guy there. New England just drafted two new guys so douglas maybe?

Agreed. No doubt losing Aiyuk would be a tough loss for any team, but I think the 49ers have sufficient depth at WR to withstand such a loss. The Niners were next to last in the league last year running 11 personnel. Jauan Jennings is a very capable WR (and underrated), and Ricky Pearsall is a first-round selection with an extremely high ceiling. It hurts the depth for certain, but when the roster is healthy, the Niners will continue to have a solid passing offense. CMC, Kittle, and Deebo provide a solid veteran foundation.
Sources are useful for different things. Not every tool has to be the same.
But you do you and I'll bow out of this with the sources talk.
I'll never try to convince anyone of something they don't want to acknowledge. Just no upside in it.
That would be fun if he winds up in New England after all.
But for sure, there's tons of status in having it first. Most of the people at the top of the reporting game are there because they built a reputation for getting the scoop. Jay Glazer builds most of his (excellent) brand on "scoopage" and it puts him on National TV every week. I get it.

Someone calling in to 95.7 the game from PIT was suggesting that Pittsburgh is firm on a second and fourth only. And saying that now the ball is in the 49ers court.

Having it first if it's finalized and correct is a totally different story. Then throwing spaghetti at a wall, bait clicking, posturing and speculating. I hate to say it, and this isn't every reporter and/or sports broadcaster. But the Brandon Ayuk has turned a lot of people into weather man. Where it's acceptable to be wrong 80% of the time. There's local broadcaster in Pittsburgh who was posturing on the BA trade. Just makes me view him as a short cutter. I get it anyone reporting on Brandon Ayuk since the draft has looked silly speculating.
I had an issue a few years ago when Diontae Johnson was offered 18 million a year. I felt he wasn't worth the money due to drops and uncertainty at the QB spot. Now there's still some uncertainty due to the Steeler's not having a guy signed for next year. Steelers were fleeced in the Diontae trade. People want to say Diontae was a malcontent. Sure, you take passes from Kenny Pickett and have your numbers drop and potential earnings effected. Not every Omar Khan move has been awesome. ARobber and Larry O are 2 examples. But overall he's done a great job.
