Hating on somebody would have to go awfully deep to walk away from 30 mil. Wow.

49ers are now free to clear up about $85 million of salary-cap space owed to Brandon Aiyuk. The voiding of that huge fully guaranteed 2026 chunk ($27m) allows for a cut that'd take this amount of annual pay off the books...
2026: $27 million
2027: $28 million
2028: $30 million
David Lombardi
By this season's end, the 49ers will have paid Brandon Aiyuk $48.9 million over 2024 and 2025 on the big contract.
So if they do cut Aiyuk, it'll end up being a 2-year deal at $24.5m APY — but with only 7 games played, 25 catches and 0 TD.
A deal that the 49ers quickly regretted, but also one they can now cleanly exit
There is more here most likely, nobody in their right mind lays these cards on the table. Concerned BA has gone AB. Slow start after signing the contract compiled with the injury, I imagine social media trolls hit him hard. Hopefully he is not losing his mind. Hard to come up with another sound reason to leave that kind of cash on the table.Hating on somebody would have to go awfully deep to walk away from 30 mil. Wow.
Looks like Jennifer Chan was right all along, but the Niners/ NBC Sports Bay Area told her to kill the story.Yeah, Niners Twitter and Reddit are now saying it’s a fake story. That said, I haven’t seen an apology from NBC Sports or Jennifer Lee Chan, and the Aiyuk article does say that he hasn’t been at practice. So, there could be some truth to what she was implying with her original Tweet. It would be consistent with Aiyuk’s past behavior.Wow, did not know that. Seems like some backtracking/bad initial post. For some reason it looks like he deleted his tweet but he was re-tweeting thisSomething is up here.
A lot to think about with salary cap and if he’s healthy enough to pass physical but for sure won’t be surprised if he’s traded in next few weeks.
Link didn't work for me.
By the time I just tried to view this, it was also apparently deleted. No big deal, I have a sense of what it was.
Gist of it was this Chan lady said he had deleted all 49'er stuff from his social and had not been seen in the last two weeks.
It does not appear Brandon Aiyuk will make his return to the field for the 49ers any time soon.
The star wideout had been very visible during practice throughout training camp and early this season, running alongside his fellow receivers during the open portion of practice, with his speed and agility during those sessions giving the impression that a return from a devastating knee injury could be soon.
However, Aiyuk has not been seen on the field much in the past two weeks.![]()
Kyle Shanahan states Brandon Aiyuk's return to field for 49ers still uncertain after Week 6 loss
It doesn't appear that Brandon Aiyuk is nearing a return to the field for the San Francisco 49ers.www.nbcsportsbayarea.com
I got him very cheap right after the acl injury and have been regretting it ever sinceI feel extremely fortunate to have dealt him when I did. I had a feeling that something very odd was up with him.

I think this is good to keep in mind.I don’t know if I’m here saying it but I believed her and wouldn’t trust Lynch or Shanahan if they appeared before me with winged and gilded angels on each shoulder.
How is Diggs playing at such a high level ? He tore his ACL in week 8 last year and was on the field week 1 this year.I did not think he was playing this season anyway. The injury is more than 12 month injury.
I agree, I thought for sure he would be back by December. I wasn't sure he would be performing great but I thought he would be playing. How is Diggs playing at such a high level ? Here's the Athletic article: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/68...49ers-news-contract-guaranteed-money-release/Oooooof
From the Atlantic. I’d link but it’s a pay access article. My friend sent me this excerpt.
After Brandon Aiyuk failed to attend meetings and declined to participate in 49ers team activities, sources say the team responded by voiding the guaranteed money in his contract for 2026, asserting that the absences amounted to a failure to fulfill his contractual obligations.
Aiyuk, sources say, has failed to attend meetings and declined to participate in other team activities in recent months, and the 49ers have grown increasingly frustrated with the receiver’s lack of communication.
The 49ers, sources say, responded by voiding the guaranteed money in Aiyuk’s contract for 2026, asserting that the absences amounted to a failure to fulfill his contractual obligations. Aiyuk, according to multiple league sources, told NFL Players Association representatives that he did not want to fight the move via an official grievance. That would clear the way for his expected release at season’s end.

A few teams that maybe not sign him but, clown genes run deep in ownerships blood, so ya never knowWho would ever sign this clown now. Just amazed at the supreme stupidity of some of these athletes.
Chiefs may consider replacing Marquise with him, they do not seem to shy away from the troubled,
Can Aiyuk be released now or do they have to keep him on the roster and then cut him Post June 1, 2026?
This sounds like something where we could see Aiyuk unemployed as early as this week, not that anyone would likely sign him
He's still not over his injuries and there are new issues many have not discussed or thought were happening up to this point
Aiyuk's mental state is now being called into question...that's gonna be hard to measure for any of us from our couches at home
I am deeply skeptical that anyone inside or outside of this organization really believes this.Aiyuk could still help the 49ers make a Superbowl run this year

Except that he’s disgruntled and isn’t likely to suit up at all. Man just had $26M in guaranteed money voided, & you think he’s gonna come out and play winning football for a team he clearly hates?I am deeply skeptical that anyone inside or outside of this organization really believes this.Aiyuk could still help the 49ers make a Superbowl run this year
I believe Aiyuk's salary is guaranteed for this year, and he was a top receiver two seasons ago, so there is no reason not to try and make it work with Aiyuk this year.
You may be right but there is also a scenario where it would behoove him to play and show the rest of the NFL his knee is healthy enough for a good contract.Except that he’s disgruntled and isn’t likely to suit up at all. It’s a bold strategy, Cotton, let’s see if it pays off for them.

I considered that (and Rotoworld suggested this in their update) but for one, we actually don’t know if he’s even healthy enough to play. For another, making sound strategic decisions doesn’t exactly seem to be in his wheelhouse. You may be right but there is also a scenario where it would behoove him to play and show the rest of the NFL his knee is healthy enough for a good contract.

Agree. Just wondering where all the hate comes from. I know he was in the "doghouse" a couple times in the first two years, but that seemed all past. Overall Niners are a pretty solid organization and they paid him big money. I haven't heard a credible explanation of what the issues were/are.Except that he’s disgruntled and isn’t likely to suit up at all. With Purdy coming back, CMC, Kittle, maybe Pearsall can get on track, the offense could definitely round into form these next 6-7 gamesI am deeply skeptical that anyone inside or outside of this organization really believes this.Aiyuk could still help the 49ers make a Superbowl run this year
In theory I agree. From the 49ers standpoint it’s beneficial.I don't think it's likely that Aiyuk changes his attitude, but still no reason to cast him off prematurely. If you're paying him this year anyways, mine as well "leave the door open" for Aiyuk to improve his mood and play, as Shanahan is doing.
Oh yeah I forgot he had that social media nonsense when he was holding out for the contract. He might be ignoring their calls but he's not blasting away on social media right now
Definitely a winning culture, which makes me question how committed to football Aiyuk is.The minds of Shanny and the Front Office, just a matter of time before they return to the Super Bowl

That’s the biggest pile of hopium I’ve ever read. Is there a betting line on this? I’d like to make a parlay that exactly none of these things happen. What a bizarre situation
“There’s still hope that he’ll be on the field for the #49ers, and 2026 is yet to be written. We shall see. If he comes back and plays well, he could be a 49er next year — but right now, he’s sort of in limbo"
