Maybe.   I have potentially better options in P Campbell, MVS and Watkins.  I’m going to try to land one of those.  

 LV is going to run the ball and Carr is going to spread the ball out between Waller and a handful of WRs.  I’m not sure Edwards gets many of those targets.

Dont pick up MvS guy cant catch to save his life.

 
Derek Carr isn't capable of making an X receiver like Edwards fantasy relevant.  2/3rds of his passes are short routes to the tight ends and running backs....been this way since he broke his leg.

Bolded is very true. Carr will either break out of this lingering fog this season, or he won't and the Raiders will be drafting a QB next year. I still maintain however, that IF he can break through, he made both Cooper and Crabtree bordeline WR1s in the same season during his 2016 MVP run. So there is a glimmer of hope here. But honestly, I perceive that more for Carr in general, and Ruggs/Edwards after this (rookie) season, than I do for Ruggs/Edwards this year. We're asking for an awful lot for rookie WRs being fed by a suspect QB on a team with a bunch of other very capable receiving options.

 
Watched the game and it's ugly. It's his first game so we can't take to much away from it but Carr hardly ever looks his way. The Raiders ran a ton but the rest was short dump offs to Waller/Ruggs/RB and a couple shots deep to Ruggs. 

The one pass he did catch he looked explosive but there didn't seem to be any urgency to get Edwards the ball. 

Not sure at this point what we can take from that. He's young and that was his first game.

Yeah the two targets MVS had that were not catches were drops. One of them would have been for a score. The Vikings kept giving Green Bay free chances by going offsides on 3rd down 3 times extending drives. The MVS TD was on one of these broken free plays. His stat line would not be popping out without that play.

Maybe Rodgers has no choice but to keep targeting him but the way MVS plays would instill confidence in targeting him in the future.

I haven't seen the Vikings defense cover so poorly since Leslie Frazier was the coach. You maybe want to start all WR against them until they prove they can stop someone.

In general I agree, but as some have said, one game is a very small sample. Here are the stats for Tyrell Williams in his final 6 games last season:

3-48 (DET)

3-91-1 (@ HOU)

3-36-1 (@IND)

3-29-1 (@MIN)

5-46-1 (KC)

6-105-1 (DEN)

You'd have to say that was " fantasy relevant", but it's not going to make your season.

Bryan Edwards played 47-of-63 snaps (75 percent) in Week 1 against the Panthers.

The snaps were a team high, with Henry Ruggs (67%) coming in behind Edwards. Edwards didn’t live up to the hype in Week 1, turning his lone target into nine yards. It’s worth noting Edwards was listed with a knee injury and didn’t look 100 percent after a second quarter hit. Edwards playing a near every-down role and starting in base sets is encouraging for his ROS outlook.

Has anyone seen any data on the types of routes Edwards ran. how much did he face press? How often did he get open?

One of the criticisms of Edwards play is that he has struggled against the jam. Playing the X WR position requires that he be on the line of scrimmage and so it is easier for defenses to jam him that it would be if Edwards played the Z WR position where he can motion and get a clean release.

Ruggs didn't practice the last two days and so up in the air as far as if he is going to be able to play. I wonder if this might be bad for Edwards, as without Ruggs he will more likely match up with Lattimore, who is beatable but a good corner. 

I am guessing Renfrow or Agholor play more Z (if Ruggs cant go) as they still want Edwards at X anyways rather than replacing two starters instead of one.

 
Ruggs looking unlikely... I cut him in all my leagues this week for waivers but really thinking about re adding him, I get the feeling he is gonna blow up on national tv monday

Tons of week 1 overreactions and hyperbole here.

I could totally see someone moving on from Edwards, I would myself if a guy like Corey Davis or even Shenault were available given that they actually showed something in week one.

But it's still a limited sample set and we see just as many premature moves as smart "move away from a player" moves based on week 1 performances.

Let me ask you this -- if you owned Jeudy, would you drop him like he dropped passes in Week 1? Not the same kind of player, but both had disappointing performances if you're an owner.

This week if Ruggs sits or is limited, I could see Edwards being a sneaky play this week. And I still think he'll develop to a solid WR. 

We'll see.

I dropped Edwards for Campbell.   Edwards has potential but Campbell looked really good in week 1.

He's a hold in Dynasty obviously but I have no problem with people dropping him in redraft. I wouldn't drop him for nothing but he looks weeks away from doing anything. Hope I'm wrong. 

 
Bryan Edwards caught both of his targets for 42 yards in the Raiders' Week 2 win over the Saints.

Through two weeks, Edwards has seen three targets. He's well off the fantasy radar despite playing heavy snaps.

As a dynasty GM, I hope that Edwards is growing and continues to do so and that we start seeing 8-140-1 games in his future, maybe next year.

In addition to his two catches, he also drew a PI tonight.

 
He looked pretty good at times against Lattimore. Oddly, he came out a lot in the red zone because who would want a 6’3 215 contested catch making man child on the field there? Anyways he’s obviously not an option right now in redraft but the optimism remains strong for dynasty.

 
He's open a lot more than his targeting would suggest. He's just not in their game plan right now. There's targets up for grabs if he can gain Carr's trust. I thought he could pop right away but as a rookie in a Covid preseason I should have known that was a long shot.

Teams will take away Waller and force Carr to go to WRs (or other TEs and RBs since Carr doesn’t throw a good downfield ball).    The young WRs need to get healthy and learn quickly.   There is no way Belicheck lets Waller beat NE.

I agree, BB won't let Waller beat him.  That's why the Raiders should come up with a different game plan and throw BB a wrinkle.

 
When it comes to rookies, you just look for increased snap counts and trust beginning to form.  Generally.  Edwards/Ruggs have both seized immediate opportunity (along with a lot of rookies this year actually).  Now what I'm looking for at least isn't stats, it's making clutch plays.  He did that with a few of those catches against the Saints so this is purely positive for his outlook to me.

I missed the PI penalty he got too. Big play in itself as well. 

 
Bryan Edwards (foot) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Edwards hasn't been on the injury report the first two weeks but should be fine for his starting role against the Patriots this Sunday. The rookie has just three targets to his name through two contests.

With Ruggs out and Waller banged up and the focal point if NE Defense I'm quietly optimistic that Bryan Edwards is going to get more opportunities Sunday. Not saying start him or anything but this could be a big day for him. NE wants Carr to throw to his receivers. So they'll try to make him.

Unfortunately will probably draw Gillmore. Or does Bill just stick Gilmore on Waller and make the rookie beat him?

Generally it's gonna be a slot guy, a linebacker, or a safety that really keys on TE, so I'm guessing BB isn't moving Gilmore to the slot and that Gilmore guards the outside, which is where Edwards would be. I don't think, though, that Edwards demands roving attention yet, though, so Gilmore just may play his favorite side of the field. 

That's my dilettantish guess.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Waller is the only receiving option that can demand any special attention. I know it's not normal for someone like Gilmore to key a TE but Waller is the only guy on the team that has produced. Just going by the "Bill always takes away your best weapon" line that everyone rolls out every week.

Sure. I'm not sanguine on Edwards's chances this week of doing anything but in garbage time. Jacobs is banged up, Waller is banged up, Ruggs is out. Not looking good for Las Vegas (that hurts to type out) so far. Limited or banged-up weapons, rookies galore, Derek Carr as your QB, Belichick as the opposing coach. I believe the mantra that he'll take away your best player, I'm just not sure that in this case it involves moving personnel around. He may leave them in their places and scheme doubles and the like with the guys in place. 

Not lovin' it. I'd look for the NEP to have a banner day on defense if all reports about injuries and the like are true. That said, watch LV score 30 or so.

It was a big play at the time and it was also a very solid route and throw that *probably* would have been a completion. Gilmore had tight coverage but it was better offense. Until the PI which was blatant. 

 
Bryan Edwards caught 2-of-3 targets for 48 yards in the Raiders' Week 3 loss to the Patriots.

Edwards had a sick 34-yard catch-and-run over the middle but appeared to injure his ankles while being dragged down awkwardly at the end of it. The rookie has just six targets through three games and won't be a fantasy option for Week 4 against the Bills.

Raiders WR Bryan Edwards ran 13 pass routes in Week 3 against the Patriots. 

With Henry Ruggs (knee) inactive, Edwards, who drew praise from coaches and beat reporters during training camp, ran well behind Zay Jones, Hunter Renfrow, and Nelson Agholor, who led the team in routes against the Patriots. Renfrow had a team-high eight targets. Agholor is a better desperation flex option than Edwards at this point.

Bedwards is flashing out there despite being banged up and underutilized. The big gainer on his crossing route this week was delicious until I threw up in my mouth at the end when the tackler murdered his ankles. He came into this season a beat up rookie and yesterday almost surely added new knocks - so might have to temper expectations severely until at least the 2nd half of this season; and perhaps more likely - until next year, especially if the Raiders don't give this dude a few weeks off to get his body right.

Not comparing them at all as players, so don't get this twisted - but look at Kamara last year versus every other year, particularly this one. Have you ever done anything physical, yetless played a sport with a nagging injury? Few can do it effectively, particularly those who are dealing with lower-body stuff and rely heavily on explosiveness to compete.

But again, he's flashing. I don't play dynasty, but if I did, he'd absolutely be a hold for now. Beddy and Ruggs have shown me enough already to believe the hype - IF they can find/maintain health (potentially a big IF - some just aren't built to withstand the NFL), I could see these two becoming a monster duo for Gruden/Carr. They compliment one another incredibly. It's a crying shame both are already breaking down; just got to hope the knocks are short term.
