WR Calvin Ridley, TEN (1 Viewer)

Funs over. He only really had 2 good quarters this year. I'm hoping I can bench him.
No it's not lol. He has almost scored 3-4 more TD's, but just had some bad luck. No idea what happenned against Houston, but Jacksonville as a team is struggling.

The targets are there, and he is still a stud. Better days ahead

I didnt see this game so I am curious about what happened.

Texans beat the Jaguars and the Cardinals beat the Cowboys.

Regardless of what seems likely to happen, any given Sunday as the saying goes. No matter how bad these teams might seem to be they are still pro teams and can cause upsets. These are division rivals and know each other better because of that.

Ridley has had 4 almost TDs in the last 2 weeks. 2 drew PI calls, one was dropped but was a terrible throw, and one was dropped with a good hit knocking it out.

Lawrence was bad against Houston last season too. 0-3 TD/INT in 2 games last year. 438 yards in 2 games.

Also, kind of think the Cardinals aren't bad, Kingsbury was just the worst HC in football.

Thanks for some context here.

As far as the Cowboys they were looking like a juggernaught of a team prior to losing this game so I just found that interesting and a example of how things change week to week.

Maybe you are right about the Cardinals. Just some including me think they are one of the worst teams right now without Murray, but perhaps this is incorrect.

He looks like it's week 15-16 of a long season, like he's already beat up. I think 3 different times in the last two weeks he's rolled around on the ground after a hit(or hitting something) and I thought I'd lost him. I know there were some concerns last week if he got out of the game unscathed and I got some concerns again this week.

None of this is to absolve him of some of the drops.

Not to get too sidetracked, but I do think its very possible Dallas overlooked this week's game. I think if Murray were healthy we might be looking at a 3-0 Cardinals team. The NFC West might surprisingly be the best division in the NFL. Its probably that or the AFC North, but nobody in the North is near SF.

As far as Ridley goes, I think he'll likely start converting more opportunities as the season goes on. I think his big week 1 made us kinda forget that he hadn't played for a year and a half.

This is mind boggling to me. Maybe a case of a team just getting in his head. Can't believe an otherwise poor defense against most teams are like the 85 Bears when they play Lawrence.

He has had some misfortune the last two weeks. Some from his own doing, and Trevor played really bad yesterday. It's crazy how close the last two weeks were to 20+ point weeks as well. Give this situation time - the ultimate buy low in my opinion.

Ridley played awful last week. First possession of the game. Ball around the 35 yard line and Lawrence throws a beautiful pass and lays the ball perfectly in stride into both of Ridley’s hands and he drops an easy touchdown. They end up missing a FG and give Houston good field position instead of scoring 7. 3rd or 4th possession. 2nd down Ridley drops an easy first down, they don’t convert the third down and they end up having the FG attempt blocked and Texans score a TD. He catches these two easy passes the Jags win the game going away. Both teams were getting first downs and moving the ball, but Ridley’s drops were the same as turnovers in this game. Ridley has the potential for top 5 in this offense, but he has to catch the ball.

Trevor played bad? He had two bad passes the entire game, one that was a pick. Ridley dropped a perfectly thrown TD, Jones missed a first down conversion, Ridley killed another drive with a drop, Engram and Bigsby both dropped passes. Houston ran a lot of clock so they weren’t getting the ball back right away.

Trevor is taking a lot of the blame as a leader, but inside he has to be disappointed with his supporting cast.

Don't disagree with anything you've said - I personally don't think Trevor has processed quick enough and has caused the offense to be sluggish at times. The drops and a couple calls are the only reason this guy isn't pacing top 5 right now. I think that changes and it's just getting through rust. Ridley has always had great hands.

Current problem is the team's defense. Jacksonville has been playing the game script like they have this light's out defense.

Then they get down big and can't climb out of the hole. They want to be this balanced run team but their defense is not allowing them that luxury. I think this London game is good for a breakout, defensive players seem to get lax and don't play well from my experience.

24. Christian Kirk
37. Calvin Ridley

@FFWhiskey I'd love to bump a few posts from the last 2-3-4 pages.

I will admit that Kirk has slipped a bit although he looks great when they throw his way.
Zay Jones back in the cuts is what makes the tea leaves blurry

You got Ridley, Kirk, Zay Jones and Even Engram gets a steady diet of 8 targets a week at TE
We have a more complete picture now of things.

It's a fair bump! Although I think it's more descriptive to say "Kirk has 8 more points than Ridley through 5 weeks". #24 vs #37 is a wider gap than the actual point difference so that is why I think it's more accurate.

In short, I am very disappointed in Ridley. He looks "fine" but he's a little too boom, bust for my tastes. He'll probably explode this weekend and then lay dormant for a few weeks.

Honestly though, the entire Jaguars passing attack has looked like craps. I mean, we gotta let these guys play a full season but Kirk has been the way better value so far and it's not up for debate. I expect more from Lawrence, he's been a huge disappointment.

To be fair though, I was probably wrong about Ridley stepping in and producing right away. The guy was away for 2 years, just like Desean Watson it's taking a little while to ramp up.

In hindsight, you had it figured out. While Ridley is the better talent, Christian Kirk has played the last two years and it's his second year in this offense. Ridley is coming in off a 2 year delay coming into a new offense.

We are 4 weeks in. Let's let this thing unfold till the back half and see where things shake out. Ridley leads the league in drops - drops are a weird and random stat as Ridley has never had "bad hands". I am a Ridley owner everywhere and am also disappointed in the start, but I also have watched the games and without the drops his stats are worlds different. Now, he dropped them and that's life - all I am saying is I still see this ending well. The entire rest of the offense has done him NO favors either.

That was my point when he posted the soccer score, I'm simply saying there are other factors going on right now and we still haven't had all the JAX skill guys healthy and rolling like we did in Week 1...I always have to do the investigative work for the other side

WR1-WR2...Ridley and Zay Jones, that's what we saw Week 1 and we saw little of Kirk as a Top 5 Slot WR, low snap count and targets, FACT!
RB1 and TE...Engram gets a steady diet each week, he's been my best performing TE across many leagues, match ups have not mattered much
Slot/WR3...Kirk, now he's been great in recent weeks but that has been with Jones mostly sidelined, what awaits in London vs Buffalo?

-Yes we are 4 weeks in, 5 on Sunday, it's going to be interesting because some are benching him Sunday and if Ridley does have a Week 1 type performance, some folks might miss out
-Someone posted above "I want off this wild ride" it's not for the squeamish it seems

Alright I made the trade (James Cook for Ridley). I’m in it for the wild ride. Subscribe.

My league is pretty shallow and I’m 1 bad game away from dropping him if it’s bad enough

is it a six-team league with short benches?

I mean, that sounds unwise. It's four games and he could have scored many more points.

And I am not a Ridley backer. I thought he might be going too high in drafts. I don't know that I was right about that. He's had plenty of opportunities, the London game notwithstanding.

Blinded by Week 1, can't believe I didn't sell high on this cat

He must be WR 80 since the end of the first half of week 1

Pederson just doesn't support fantasy WR

Getting "return of Josh Gordon" vibes from this whole situation.

Wish I posted that back when I first thought it. In August.

Right before I ignored myself and drafted him.

A lot of folks seemed to go a bit overboard during draft season for Ridley (based on not much) and now a fair few are going overboard the other way. It's a long season.
I agree Ridley was going a round early but I got it due to the upside in that offense. They are just not throwing him the ball in the last couple weeks, but yeah, a long season. A guy I am targeting as his asking price dips.

He has 9 catches and a TD in his last 16 quarters of football, on 20 targets. How many games do you need?

More than 4?
It gets late early.

Just trying to encourage a bit of patience, players get lauded up and down after a big game and then dragged through the mud after a quiet one. People were going nuts because Ekeler started quiet last season. Not saying Ridley will suddenly explode, but there's plenty of talent there and the season is very young.
