WR Emeka Egbuka, TB (2 Viewers)

For an injury that occurred in November though? There's a difference between 100% healthy and 100% yourself.
Yeah, and it was the “Jason Kendall” injury… That dude was never the same player again. I know it’s a different sport, but arguably more difficult in football to recover fully.

It’s what gives me some optimism about both of the young Tampa receivers. Plus, Mike Evans seems like he’s due for a hamstring issue. Nothing against the guy, but he has suffered through them for years.

No 2 injuries are the same. Someone anecdotally not being the same really nothing nor does someone coming back 100%. However Kendall played well the next season and played 11 seasons after that injury, including 2 of his best 3 seasons.

Who is this one?

They're just one on ones. WR has a huge advantage. Good early reports though in terms of his opportunity to hit the ground running right away.

Good chance. It had an authors name and picture at the bottom but of course that could be fake too.
that might make for a solid business idea. I could sell various AI Slop “news” services my name & likeness to have someone to attribute their AI-generated articles.

Stand back fellas, I’m finna get rich!
General public isn't smart enough to figure out I'm 'Al Bothwell'.
Sure the L looks like an I and the surname literally starts with Bot, but this is the mid talent FF fan we're talking about.

Not just the general public. The Head of the Department of Education thought it was a 1. She referred to it as A1 multiple times. You literally can’t make this up lmao. We used to live in a world where knowing how to find info was the key. We are now in a world where the key is knowing what info to ignore.

with the two aging receivers and one who may not even be ready for the start of the season....I'm probably gobbling up shares of Jalen at his price as he has shown he belongs in the league and his price is dirt cheap right now....if any of the other three have an issue (and even if they don't to a certain extent)....Jalen will get some run....let alone if something major happens...Jalen would probably be the WR2 on how many teams in the league right now....embarrassment of riches right now in TB, but they have set themselves up nicely for when Evans and Godwin hang em up...

Not a bad strategy. I imagine you can get Godwin pretty late as well.

I'm definitely sold on the floor for dynasty. Really feels like the safest pick I could make at 1.5. I don't envision any scenario short of catastrophic injury where he's not a lineup contributor for years.

What about ceiling? Realistic top-10 WR aspirations when Evans and Godwin hit the dusty road? Feels a little more like someone on track to be a top #2 on a team with SB aspirations. Or is that selling him short just because of the OSU duo with Smith? Is anyone betting on him cracking the top half of fantasy WR1s in three years?

I want to talk myself into Egbuka ahead of T-Mac, but my league lineup settings reward ceiling over depth. T-Mac still feels like the selection when drafting for ceiling.

It just really feels like Egbuka is about to emerge as the #1 in Tampa with Evans a productive #2 that returns FF value of something like WR22-26, which is probably a loss at ADP. Godwin can possibly muddy things for a minute but that's about it. If he starts commanding #1 targets and attention then it isn't going to stop. I'm trying not to pile too much fuel in this train's boiler but I find myself reaching for him. Since this board has ears I wonder who will reach the most?

One thing that might play into Egbuka's hands is running more short routes, getting open quickly where Evans tends to run more down the field. With the loss of Wirfs for part of the season, they might need to lean on more of a quick passing game to star the year.

So did I hear right, Egbuka has been playing outside and not in the slot so far? I'm trying to decide as a Godwin dynasty owner does it make sense to add Egbuka at 1.6. "If" Godwin comes back healthy within the next month or so and plays the slot, I think he will be the Bucs WR to own for this year.

I’m in a sixteen team league, I can take him at 49 or see if he makes it back at 81 overall. I’m leaning towards 49 overall which is nuts but I think he’s the goods

I don't think I'd want Egbuka at 49 overall. But, I get it, when you believe in a guy.
Ha I dont either but thats a point in the draft of Pickens lets say, receivers grouped there are Tet, Sutton and Worthy as well

Evans age and Godwin on PUP and I do like the player, its really a question of how high does he go

49 is admittedly too high but what's the expectation here's there at 81. 7th round of a normal league, I think he starts getting there

Not sure about #49 and what other players are available, but I'd probably view the WR situation along the lines of:

Sutton
Tet
Egbuka

Worthy

Pickens

Sutton is Nix's WR1 and Tet is going to be a target hog in CAR - I'd have to consider them before Egbuka, who will be competing for targets with Evans and (eventually) Godwin. I might even bump Tet above Sutton tbh. I am a big fan of Egbuka however, haven't been able to land him anywhere yet, and wouldn't fault you at all for reaching for him a little. Got a feeling Egbuka might not be there at #81 - his stock is rising. Overall it's probably better to go with your gut and miss instead of wishing you had pulled the trigger on the breakout player you really liked all summer, but then made a pure ADP pick that turned out to be wrong.

Personally, I would take the chance he gets to #81.

But that is with no clue who your other options are at #49. That will dictate everything.

He had another target for 20+ yards where he was open but Bridgewater missed him.

Godwin isn’t even running as far as we know.

Egbuka is showing it and showing out. He’s going to get a lot of run right away.

6 games? 10 games?
Could Godwin miss the season?
McMillan suddenly seems to have value again IMHO
Egbuka for sure but JM will be out there in 3-Wide sets and already knows Baker Mayfield and the offense, he could be an overlooked piece early in the season
I also think we Evans start to tail off some

Jalen McMillan got hurt too. Likely not serious, but sure to miss valuable practice time.

You gotta factor in more for QB play. Baker had 4.5k+ yards and 40+ TDs.

Young only had 2.5k yards and a mere 15 TDs. Sutton I can understand as Nix was much better. But not Tet just on assumption of targets.

I’m guessing we don’t see Godwin till after week 6 or something.

Hate to see that. What a warrior for the franchise he has been. Definitely think EE is the heir apparent.

Agreed but I'm willing to bet that Young improves on those numbers considerably, with Tet as the main beneficiary. Egbuka looks great and the TB offense is superior to CAR in every way - but Tet is going to be the man for CAR and Egbuka will be competing with a future HOF WR for targets. It's close for me though - I wouldn't blame anyone for preferring Egbuka over Tet or vice versa.

Reverse engineer and show me how you get Tet to 1k yards and 7+ TDs. I just don't see Young touching 4k yards or 30+ TDs.

Egbuka doesn't have to "compete" for targets. There are plenty of targets to go around when you are dividing up 4k+ yards/30+ TDs. Lock in Evans for his 1k/10TD That leave 3.5k/20+ TDs for the rest and Egbuka steps in as the #2.
