WR Garrett Wilson, NYJ (2 Viewers)

He will be just fine. Lazard has history with AR, but Wilson is the true #1.
Not happening. Into year 3 and this situation is actually worse than when Zach Wilson was the QB. Rodgers barely looks his way
Yep. The two NFL retreads lazard and Conklin are getting more looks and targets than Wilson.

Either Wilson did something to Rogers personally to where Rogers doesn't look his way or Wilson just isn't that good. I can't think of any other reason why he's not getting looks and targets. Even Zach Wilson was targeting him like there was no tomorrow.

Even the running backs are getting more passes too

Unbelievable. What a wasted draft pick.

In this situation a lot of times I'd blame the OC for not getting the ball to their best WR. But with Rodgers, if Wilson was doing enough to command the ball, Rodgers would get it to him.

It’s apparent the Jets are running the team ala KC with TE Tyler Conklin as the #1 throwing option and the receivers as accessory targets. Wilson should still have value this year as a wr2/3 (better than drafting one of the many injured players in round 2)

They’re just not on the same page. Aaron has missed him a few times and Wilson hasn’t run sharp routes either. Gotta happen against woeful Denver or else I’m shopping him.

Just give him time. Rodgers is leaning on his familiarity rn.
Wilson had to deal with Sneed Gonzalez and next week Surtain.

Gonzalez shadowed him all over the field tonight.

Rodgers forced one into him to get him going.
After the game in his prime interview, his last sentence was “once we get 5 going it’s going to be special”

SO CHILL

Do my eyes deceive me or does this dude look like he shrank between last year and this year? I don’t ever recall thinking he looked this small on the field. Maybe it’s the goofy loose jersey.

He's skinny. He moves like Gumby. He's being counted on to be the guy, and I hope that he can be.

He does need to bulk up a little, he would of had that 1st TD if he could break a tackle. The Jets just didn't need to do much last night; at halftime they had 250 yards to 40. And Rodgers is good enough to not force the ball to anyone; he tore them up last night in the middle of the field. Once they felt comfortable with the game they gave GW another chance at a TD and he got it done. Obviously we're not going to get 1600 yrs out of Wilson but hes going to be fine IMO

Nice analysis. I don't roster him; I'm just a Jets fan. I think he'll be fine also, but can he be the guy for Rodgers? Those guys have career years.

It's the 80's throwback jersey. It's funny how weird it looks.

This. He wasn't getting targeted much, and then when he was they were not in sync. I want to blame Rodgers, but he didn't seem to have any trouble hitting anyone else.

He had the joint most receptions last night.

And since preseason play is out of the question, how many games will this take? I'm beginning to think they should make preseason 7 on 7 non-contact so that starters can actually use it to get ready for the season. Imagine.

I am the other way.. I think they should eliminate all the PS games and make camp longer.. Coaches can control what they want in camp, like no touch on the QB and such, so people like Rodgers, Mahomes, etc can get more work with their new players, or get adapted to a new offense.. Playing pointless PS games IMO just takes away from them doing that cause no coach is going to risk a top notch player with a big contract getting hurt in a PS game, so maybe outside a series, they just aren't going to play.

The problem with this is that players on the bubble or who aren't superstars are still auditioning for a job. Playing actual games helps these guys and the coaches make these important decisions.

I tend to agree.

The great Don Shula had a very intense camp in Miami and required everyone to complete a 1 mile run in something like 8:00 or maybe it was 10/12 but he required it to be on the team and everyone had to pass including OL/DL, although back in that era, 250-260 was about as big as they got.

His players were typically in top condition and part of their magic in the early to mid 70s was overall conditioning.
Piggyback on what you said, a 2 week extension of camp would be a good move

On other thing I wanted to add is that even when they abolish PS which they will to get the players to play an 18 game schedule, you still are going to have injuries and while you're right, nobody that's making a lot of money is going to be exposed in these meaningless and useless PS games.

When the NFL slotted rookies and capped their potential money coming in, Sam Bradford being one of the last of those types of contracts, I think many fans liked it and thought it was a good way to reset the table and it was. But now, we have sky high QBs making $60M or close to it per season, should there be a salary cap at the certain positions? Like a Max-Contract in the NBA, and that numbers is maybe adjusted yearly and accordingly.

And with that, I have hijacked this thread, I didn't even know I was in the Wilson thread, I'll find my way out the front door

Back then they needed extended training camp/preseason because most players worked other jobs in the offseason and weren’t anywhere near in playing shape when they arrived to camp. That hasn’t been the case in many decades.

Is the target statement accurate?

No.

Ytd Targets
Wilson: 26
Hall: 19
Lazard: 16
Conklin: 10
Allen: 8
Williams: 5
Ruckert: 5
Gipson: 2
Corley: 1

Between being unable to overcome top CB's, and not being on the same page as his overrated head case QB, we are 10,000 miles from ROI where he was drafted.

Makes me want to slap myself.

Will sell higher than dirt at any opportunity.
