WR Malik Nabers, NYG (2 Viewers)

Congratulations to the Giants and all those fantasy owners that drafted him. He is elite and don’t see how anyone would question that.

Next Gen Stats
Malik Nabers was targeted 12 times on 34 routes for 8 receptions, 78 yards and 2 touchdowns, accounting for 56.9% of the Giants team air yards.

Nabers is the only receiver in the NFL to account for over half of his team's air yards (57.6%) this season.

Malik Nabers with another ALPHA performance in Week 3.

Through three games:

95% routes (elite)
38% targets (elite)
57% air yards (elite)

Already one of the best WRs in the NFL and not even Daniel Jones is slowing him down. Really amazing stuff.

Like a good Naber…was my number one rookie and looks the part. Definitely has some young OBJ vibes to his game but better in contested catch situations. Hope the kid can stay healthy, will be fun to watch going forward.

I laughed at those who mentioned Nabers in the same sentence as Harrison. I'd like to take a few minutes to apologize to my fans. Dudes a stud.

A lot of people were turned off by his QB but his talent really showed up despite that. You could see it in preseason as well as college.

I was worried about you he QB as well, thankfully not a detriment as of yet. Just to be clear I was talking in terms of dynasty and would have ranked MHJr over him in redraft. Exciting young player and love his attitude towards the game as well.

My apologies for even suggesting selling high.

Still aggravated. Because I kept thinking it's so typical of this team to go to the same well too many times until their one and only good player is out with injury. And then by gum they went and did it.

Nabers and Jayden are my two regrets right now. I was in position to get both either through trades on the table or having the pick in hand. I thought both would be fantastic and despite being a Bama fan, I liked watching both in college. But I listened to the experts and ended up with other players (Odunze who I later traded + for Bijan, and Caleb).

Malik is really good.
And when The Giants draft a quarterback who doesn't underthrow every deep pass,he's going to be even better
Think about that. :coffee:

Nabers is too good, he's gonna get Saquan'ed. They'll burn him out and run him into the ground, limp to 5-6 wins on his back and never get high enough in the draft to get him a proper QB

I see comments like the bolded from fans of many teams. Sure, I get that fans would prefer a high draft pick with the expectation the pick will turn into a franchise QB, but how many of them actually work out? Jones was the #6 pick in his class. Going back 10 years, here were other Top QB 10 picks: Blake Bortles (3), Jameis Winston (1), Marcus Mariota (2), Carson Wentz (2), Mitchell Trubisky (2), Sam Darnold (3), Josh Rosen (10), Trevor Lawrence (1), Zach Wilson (2), Trey Lance (3), Bryce Young (1), and Anthony Richardson (4). None of those guys have exactly lit the world on fire. Lots of things go into a QB succeeding (coaching, OL, play calling, skill position talent, ownership willingness to bring in free agents, etc.) IMO, there have been many situations where teams have been lacking in those other areas where most rookie QBs would have failed.

So glad he fell to me at 1.4 in our rookie superflex draft. I really thought Daniels was going to be the one to drop to me since a few of the teams ahead of me did not need a QB. As of today what order do we see the top 5 rookies in SF?

Really sort of kicking myself for trading down from 1.2 to 1.3. Would I rather have Odunze/Adonai Mitchell/Early/Mid 2025 3rd or Malik Nabers.

Yuck.

I think Odunze will be a pretty good WR but the early returns on Nabers are about as rare as it gets thru 4 games.

I guess I'm talking with my giant fan hat and not my fantasy hat so I don't know what perspective you're coming from. Fantasywise, it will be great, he will be fed. Giants wise, vicious cycle rolls on.

I agree with you in theory on the QB, but I think you would see the better outcome QBs are in the top half of the first, by and large.

As far as Daniel Jones being 6th, total overdraft but I think that was known at the time. He would have been there at 17 that year

I am a NE fan, and post-Brady, the QBs the Pats have rolled out were pretty much doomed. Cam, Mac, Zappe, and Brissett have had very little to work with. NE drafted Maye, but he will have it worse than the others. No OL, no experienced or talented WR, a rookie coaching staff, and a front office that has spent hardly anything on offense in 5 seasons. The majority of fans want Maye to be starting, but I don't see how he could be successful with the situation he has to work with. It's worse than Carolina, and we saw what happened to Young.

I didn't understand why the Giants gave Jones a $40M a year extension . . . but I don't understand why other teams have been reupping other so-so starters to even bigger deals. I don't get a chance to watch the Giants a ton, but when I've seen them the O-line has usually been poor, they haven't had a ton of talent at WR recently (until Nabers), and it seemed like the offense went as far as Barkley could take them. Could Jones fare better with a more stable line and another talented receiver to throw to? On the flip side, I'm not sure bringing in a rookie QB to work with the same limitations would yield much better results without similar offensive upgrades.

Personally I think Danny Dimes sucks, but I think Nabers elevates his play enough that the Giants likely hang onto Jones for at least another year. They beat the Browns and hung with the Cowboys for most of the game last night. Giants have put a lot into their offensive line the last few years with not much to show for it but finally appears to be paying off this year (they only gave up 1 sack and 10 total pressures to the Cowboys last night). If they only win 1 or 2 more games though who knows, they do save $20MM to cut him next year.

I don’t like the sound of this at all for this week. To be almost a week after it and still be in the “early stages” of the protocol is not a good sign imo. We want to be hearing that he’s progressing quickly through the stages.

Agreed - if he’s in the early stage, hard to imagine he’s playing this week.

He hasn't cleared stage 3 yet, and if he doesn't by tomorrow there's almost zero chance he plays this week

What is stage 3 and how do you know he hasn't cleared it?
Stage 3 - Football-specific exercise

....The player is allowed to participate with the team in sport specific exercise for 30 minutes or less with ongoing and careful monitoring."

The 5 stages of the protocol are in the link in the post I made about him not practicing Wednesday.

Thank you, are we just assuming he's in Stage 2 based on the "early stages" comment, or was there something specific said?

I think you have to read between the lines here. Don't think Daboll is going to come out and say he's in stage 2,3,4, etc. He could be in stage 1 for all we know. What we do know is he didn't practice. See where he is today.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan says Malik Nabers (concussion) “seems like a longshot to be ready” for Week 5 against the Seahawks.
Nabers is in the early stages of concussion protocol and didn’t practice on Wednesday. The rookie will need to clear protocol in time to play on Sunday against the Seahawks, and will presumably be out if he can’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday. His status remains one to watch over the next 48 hours.
