WR Michael Pittman, IND (2 Viewers)

Does he have a realistic shot a playing this week? My contingency plans are…lacking.
I think he’s fine. Cleared concussion protocol, full practice, mystery shoulder injury at 4:00 on Friday?

Must win game. He’s gonna go bananas - play him.
Now OUT.

Nooooooooooooooooooo
:sadbanana:

My only option left is Gabe Davis, who’s had 0 catches in 2 weeks, or Rashad Bateman, whose ceiling seems to be about 8 points.

I hope you went with Gabe.

… I was busy with Christmas Eve dinner prep. Didn’t see this news at all. My pivot would have been Gabe.

Now it’s Demario Douglas 😥

I wish I were single so I could jump out of bed, slug whiskey and slam a few cigarettes to make me feel “better”

Sure did. Went for ceiling.

Boom goes the dynamite. 🧨

Also sorry, that sucks. 🥹

Colts GM Chris Ballard has acknowledged the franchise tag is a possibility for impending free agent Michael Pittman.

“I don’t want to use it, but it’s a tool,” Ballard said. “If we have to use it, we will.” The Colts have a strange aversion to tagging players, last doing so in 2013 with ... then-punter Pat McAfee. It’s the second longest tag-less streak in the NFL, albeit one that is certain to be broken with Pittman absent a long-term agreement. For his part, Pittman sounded surprisingly open to the possibility last month. “With the franchise tag, I don’t think anyone would be displeased with $23 million,” Pittman said. “The franchise tag is almost like a tag of respect, to get paid in the top five at your position, but do I necessarily want to play on one? I wouldn’t say, necessarily, no, I do not want to play on the tag, but you can use that to work toward a long-term deal.” Pittman’s agent probably didn’t love that, but it’s clear Pittman will remain a Colt for 2024.

Yes, Ballard has said the Colts will keep Pittman one way or another. Either by resigning him or franchising him. He is adamant about that.

NEW #ReceptionPerception profile on the site: Colts WR Michael Pittman.

The 2023 season was Pittman's third straight year:
- With a near 74% success rate vs. man coverage
- North of 80% success rate vs. zone
- North of 80% success rate vs. press

Pittman is such a reliable, well-rounded receiver who has become the foundation of the Colt's passing attack. One of the best short and intermediate receivers in the game.

I don't think he catches 109 balls with Richardson and how (I think) they want to run the ball. But he could catch in the high 80's, low 90's. More importantly, he's 6'4 and his career high in touchdowns is 6. Just feels like he's due for a bigger TD year. Richardson should help the offense overall.

Pittman feels like he will be a steal in casual redraft leagues. Going around WR20 late 3rd early 4th round; he's already out performed that the past 3 years, flying by that projection last year in particular with some terrible QB play. He's still the center piece of the passing game, and basically showed he won't be reliant on ARichs health. Throw in he's due some positive TD regression, and I think I'd be more than comfortable taking him a full round earlier than that ADP, towards the end of the 2nd round. Early third he's an autopick for me.

Another guy whose ADP is gonna be drastically higher in a month. Wr26 on fantasypros? Tragic. Even at wr20 is silly. If u can get a guy that's about to see his target share anywhere near wr15 that just feels like a lock draft pick...

Not sure what you guys are seeing. Went WR14, 2.9 yesterday and WR13, 3.2 (TE heavy scoring) two weeks ago. He's WR16 in FantasyPros projections.

i've been seeing it. did 4 cash drafts so far. pittman went 38th, 39th, 39th, and 35th. so end 3rd/top 4th in 12 teamers. i got him in one of those. he's a very safe feeling kinda pick but people do start drafting rbs and laporta/kelce before he goes. maybe a qb or four. other wrs like metcalf, deVonta and nico tend to go over him as well. a great target if you draft rbs early. but i've passed on him at end 2nd/early 3rd in favor of a rb like etn and/or kelce. with so many decent wrs people are gonna chase other spots before they dry up. i passed him over in another to get a share josh allen at 36th. site rankings have him fairly low and he does look like a good value at end 3rd/top 4th. perfect fit for teams that go rb/rb or wr/rd in back end of drafts

Hmmm. This time of never I'll usually look at fantasypros upcoming season rankings only. I'll make my own projections. 2024 rankings have him at 26. Either way. It's silly and wr14 is reasonable to me.

your looking at standard scoring rankings. change to ppr and you'll see he jumps up to 20th overall and like wr13 or something like that

I'm very much on the other side of that. Richardson's health is a negative for Pittman, Minshew was an upgrade for him, as Flacco would be too.

I want no part of Pittman as a top-20 WR. I have him WR29. I don't see him due positive TD regression, he's a non-explosive player in a very run 1st (even more so with Richardson) offense.

Last year was his ceiling in my eyes, and he benefitted a lot from injuries around him. I'm looking at him in like round 6 (maybe the 5/6 turn) so he probably doesn't even need to be on my board. 90-1000-5 is reasonable, but tough to see a ceiling beyond that.

The way I look at it is that if I don't feel comfortable starting him, I trade him. So I did. I gave Pittman and Sinnott for Higgins in a devy / dynasty ppr league. Now don't get me wrong, I don't have warm and fuzzy about Higgins either, but if he can fully recover I feel better about him than I do Pittman. Obviously you like Burrow throwing to Higgins more than AR throwing to Pittman. Or at least I do and I'm a Colts fan, but a realist.

He's gone from my really nice WR3, to a decent flex.

Completely within the range of outcomes that ARich puts together a great 2nd half, and flips the script.

If you are looking for buy low, this is what it looks like

....or if you're looking to get out, this is what it looks like, because obviously from my trade he still has value.

He's on my bench for now, but I tend to agree with @massraider that it should get better later in the season.

Mostly because I believe in Steichen.

I remember when Jalen Hurts was an awful real QB and not a fantasy benefit to his WRs.

I believe in Steichen to help Richardson and the whole offense improve.

Pittman has never had a league average quarterback so he doesn't need him to improve much.

I wouldn't pay much but I think it'll get better.

After they look terrible against the Steelers, you can probably get him off the waiver wire.

Never thought I’d say this a few weeks ago but I’m starting players like Q Johnson and Mooney over Pittman.
Pittman is a definitive Hold for me though. (Dynasty, of course)

#Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr., who is dealing with a painful back injury that appeared earlier in the week poised to keep him out for several weeks… is expected to be active today, source said.

An amazing turnaround and good news for Indy.
