WR/TE N'Keal Harry - MIN (1 Viewer)

N'Keal Harry caught 5-of-6 targets for 39 yards in the Patriots' Week 1 win over the Dolphins.

Harry and Damiere Byrd "started" with New England opting for a lot of two-receiver sets. In fact, Julian Edelman basically only played in three-receiver sets, although he still managed to lead the team in receiving (57) and targets (7). Harry's role is secure, but the Patriots will compete for the fewest pass attempts in the NFL if Week 1 was any indicator. Harry will need to convert his size into touchdowns to enter the flex mix in standard-sized redraft leagues. He's best viewed as a WR4/5.

Boy, this guy is the definition of mediocre.  Not sure I see a single plus trait to his game.
He plays so soft. Jamal Adams just wiped him out on that catch near the goal line. You look at him and think he should be playing a lot more like DK Metcalf on the other sideline.

N'Keal Harry caught 8-of-12 targets for 72 yards in Week 2 against Seattle.

Harry had the most targets and his eight catches were tied Julian Edelman. The Patriots got Harry most of his looks on short routes, with his longest catch going for 17 yards. Harry has been playing ahead of Edelman in two-wide sets and looks primed for a breakout after a lost rookie season. Harry will be in the flex mix for a Week 3 matchup with the Raiders.

Tons of targets but he didn't do that much with them. He is worth owning but he isn't a guy I would be trying to buy.

As someone who claimed him for $0 last week, I thought last night was a pretty nice effort, the type that will build trust in Newton going to him.  That shot he took across the middle while still hanging on was a big boy catch.

I hate to agree as an owner and Pats fan, but this kind of sums it up. Last year at least he had some of these plays where he made something happen on his own, like the non-TD that was a real TD. But this game, he was playing timid. Almost like he didn't want to do too much. Ironically, had he not fumbled last week he probably would have made a stronger effort on that last catch.

N’Keal Harry (ankle) is questionable for Week 3 against the Raiders.

The Patriots also listed Julian Edelman (knee) as questionable. Both are expected to suit up. Harry has been playing through a shoulder issue, but the ankle injury is new. He’s tied with Edelman for a team-high 18 targets through two weeks.

N'Keal Harry caught 2-of-4 targets for 34 yards in the Patriots' Week 3 win over the Raiders.

Harry saw a whopping 12 targets last week in Seattle, but New England controlled this one on the ground, giving three running backs 10-plus touches each. Harry might get a better chance at production next week if the date with the Chiefs turns into a shootout.

N'Keal Harry caught 3-of-6 targets for 21 yards and one score in New England's Week 4 loss to the Chiefs.

Harry's afternoon was salvaged with a fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Jarrett Stidham, who replaced Brian Hoyer for the final 15 minutes. Even in seeing six targets, Harry's 6.1 yards per target through four games are comical. Damiere Byrd, who caught 5-of-10 targets for a team-high 80 receiving yards against Kansas City, should be the priority over Harry in deeper leagues.

Anyone see any potential here or reason to pick him up over some others out there like Kirk/E Sanders/Cooks etc?

N'Keal Harry (WR, NE) - Week 5 Waiver Wire Pickups

Excerpt:

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

ROSTERED: 35% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: After an injury-derailed rookie season, N'Keal Harry is finally enjoying a full-time playing year as a sophomore. He has already surpassed his receptions, targets, and receiving yards from last season in just over half the games he played a year ago, has one score (he had 2 TDs last season), and his yards per target and aDOT are both up from 2019. Not bad for the often-criticized young receiver.

Now, for the bad news: New England won't have Newton for Week 5. On the bright side of things, though, the Patriots face a Broncos Defense that ranks fifth-worst against WRs in fantasy points allowed to the position through four games. If only for a week, Harry should definitely be on your WW radar.

N'Keal Harry has been up-and-down since the start of the year in terms of production, but the volume has always been there for the second-year player. Harry has been targeted 4+ times in every game, 6 times in two, and saw a season-high 12 targets in W2. So far, he's 18-for-28 in receptions (64.2% catch rate) and just this past Monday he scored his first TD of the year against the no. 1 defense against the position. Not bad.

If Brady were still in town, I'd advise acquiring Harry also in shallower leagues, but with the current situation at the QB position and Cam Newton (and the whole team) having more of a running approach to games, Harry's upside is a little short for that. Don't get me wrong, though. Next weekend he should explode against a really bad defense, and a bye week comes after that. Get Harry, play him as a FLEX with upside to enter the WR2 realm, and if you're not satisfied just drop him next Monday and look at other options.

N'Keal Harry was held without a catch in Week 6 against the Broncos.

He was targeted twice by Cam Newton. James White led the Patriots in receiving and Harry was outplayed by Damiere Byrd (3 catches, 38 yards). Harry's role has been all over the place this year, with 40% of his targets coming in Week 2. Harry should be avoided for next week's matchup with the 49ers' secondary.

N'Keal Harry (concussion) is not practicing Wednesday.

Harry was knocked out of the Week 7 loss to the 49ers in the first quarter and is in the protocol. He has a combined 19-172-1 line on 32 targets through six games and is well of the fantasy map.

Oct 28, 2020, 4:19 PM ET

N'Keal Harry (concussion) won't play in Week 8 against the Bills.

Julian Edelman (knee, old) has also been ruled out for Sunday. New England will move forward with Damiere Byrd, Gunner Olszewski, and Jakobi Meyers in three-wide sets with Isaiah Zuber likely getting promoted from the team's practice squad. Meyers, who came off the bench to record 4/60 receiving against the Niners, is the only one in consideration for deeper fantasy leagues in Week 8.

Patriots WR N'Keal Harry (concussion) had a limited practice Friday and is listed as questionable to play the Ravens in Week 10.

The Patriots again trolled the league and fantasy football blurbers everywhere by listing 13 players as questionable, including Harry, who missed last week's game. Whether or not Harry is active for Week 10, Jakobi Meyers will continue operating as the team's WR1. Against the Ravens, he should again see double digit targets.

N'Keal Harry was held without a catch in Week 10 against the Ravens.

He wasn't targeted in his return to the lineup. The Patriots went run-heavy against the Ravens, with Jakobi Meyers the only Patriots receiver to finish with a catch. New England has one of the lowest volume passing attacks in the league, but there should be better days for Harry as the Patriots' No. 2 receiver. Harry gets a matchup with the Texans in Week 11.

N'Keal Harry (shoulder) was limited at Friday's practice and is questionable to play against Houston.

This is a new injury for Harry, who has been plagued by injuries all season. Held without a single catch last week against Baltimore, Harry shouldn't be rostered in fantasy leagues. Jakobi Meyers is the only fantasy-viable Patriots receiver.

N'Keal Harry caught 3-of-4 targets for 49 yards in the Patriots' Week 14 loss to the Rams.

The 49 yards were the third most of Harry's disappointing career. 30 of them came on a third quarter jump ball where Cam Newton let Harry go up and get it over Rams CB Darious Williams. A nice play, but those have few and far between for the 2019 first-rounder. Harry also nullified a long, if pointless, 33-yard James White run to end the first half when he committed an illegal block in the back penalty. Harry won't have any fantasy juice for the final three weeks of the season.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports teams have had trade talks involving Patriots WR N'Keal Harry.

This is the first report about a potential divorce. Harry only has 414 yards through two seasons in an offense that has been desperate for receivers. Widely considered a first-round bust, Harry may need a change of scenery to jump start his career. Harry has dealt with various injuries in each season, which has zapped his ability to create separation. It's unclear who has called, but the trade compensation would have to be minimal.

Based on predraft scouting, I think his ability to separate was zapped long before he suffered any NFL injuries.
From what I remember, separation was never one of his more marketable skills. I remember hearing that he would win every jump ball and would outmuscle defenders to make catches. I thought the breakdown was little separation, great hands, will catch anything near him, and will come down with the ball in hand-to-hand combat situations. What he turned into was a so-so route runner, still no separation, drops on easy catches, but a couple of highlight reel catches on throws that should have been uncatchable. IMO, he may be better suited to add weight and convert to a TE (although who knows if has any interest in blocking or if he would improve his catch rate).

Hard to succeed when you aren't fast, are easy to cover, and drop easy passes. Defenses never had to give any thought about double covering him or allocating a top defender in coverage to him. MAYBE, and that's a big MAYBE, he might have better luck on an offense with actual weapons (ie more space to work with on a team with some actual firepower), but I think that's more wishful thinking than anything else.

I'd be fine with NE moving on from him, so getting anything back in return would have to be considered a bonus. I can't imagine a team interest in him would be offering more than a last day draft pick . . . something similar to the trade the Pats made for Trent Brown. Something like Harry and a 6th for an early 5th.

His warts were evident, but I never liked the way NE handled him, but I could be mistaken and he just sucks.  If you're slow you better make up for it other ways and Harry obviously didn't do that.

I seem to remember some people making comps to Dez Bryant. similar size and build, basically the same 40 time, etc. Harry never showed much on a consistent basis in NE. I heard stories in practice where he was never open no matter who was covering him . . . even practice squad guys. Then every once in a while he would make some superhuman catch on a ball that should never have been thrown and it seemed like there was hope.

I get that he can't beat man coverage, but you would think he would be able to do something in zone? Maybe find a hole in the zone somewhere? How about on a rub route / pick route? There should be ways to use his size to his advantage (slants? WR screens?) where he could at least get some yardage. NE should be able to find some use for him or some packages where he could do SOMETHING. But I guess that just ties up a roster spot. In NE, anyways, it doesn't look like he can be an every down player with consistent contributions.

ESPN's John Keim reports the Washington Football Team is "monitoring" N'Keal Harry's availability.

New England's first round bust -- who has 414 yards through two seasons with the Pats -- has reportedly received interest from several teams that might be willing to trade for him. Keim pointed out that Washington general manager Martin Mayhew was in San Francisco when the 49ers showed interest in Harry leading up to the 2019 NFL Draft. A source told Keim "it's hard to imagine" the Patriots settling for anything less than a fourth round draft pick in exchange for Harry. He would be Washington's No. 4 pass catching option, at best.

He's not even good at what he's supposed to be good at.

My worst ever dynasty pick and it's not close. That 2019 draft was just rough.

Since HyperActive leagues folded (HA3 specifically), I am now the proud owner of NO Harry shares.

ProFootballTalk: Bill Belichick reportedly ignored scouts in drafting N’Keal Harry

...

Two years after the 2019 draft, we know that first-round receiver N'Keal Harry has not been good. Albert Breer of SI.com recently reported that coach Bill Belichick ignored his personnel department in picking Harry over players like Deebo Samuel and A.J. Brown, both of whom were preferred by the team’s scouts. Belichick ignored that input and instead took Harry, based on Harry’s performance during a non-workout visit to the team and Belichick’s relationship with Harry’s college coach, Todd Graham.

Breer interprets Kraft’s reference to a “different approach” as reflecting an indication that Belichick is now listening more to those in the building who are setting the table for Belichick.

Well let's all just be thankful the Patriots didn't rob us all of AJ Brown taking off somewhere else.

The Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan reports WR N'Keal Harry could be fighting for a roster spot this summer.

The former first-round draft pick could battle it out with unheralded second-year wideouts Isaiah Zuber and Kristian Wilkerson, per Callahan. Harry was at the center of trade rumors in March. How real those rumors were is the source of much speculation, as Harry has been disastrous as a pro, managing 45 receptions over this first two seasons in the NFL. Handpicked by head coach Bill Belichick over A.J. Brown and Deebo Samuel, Harry could start the 2021 season on another roster if the Patriots give up on him this summer.

Patriots WR N'Keal Harry suffered a calf injury during practice on Tuesday.

The Athletic's Jeff Howe noted that Harry limped through the remainder of the drill he was participating in and that his status is being monitored. He added that Harry has been building momentum throughout the week. Harry, an unmitigated bust since the Patriots drafted him with the No. 32 pick in 2019, has 414 yards to his name through two injury-plagued seasons. For now, the injury appears to be minor. If it turns out to be more serious than expected, Harry could continue falling behind his teammates, putting his roster spot in jeopardy.

Harry was a liability in NE. Wasn’t developing and wasn’t going to have a big role. His agent is right. There wasn’t a plan for him and he wasn’t going to see many targets and wasn’t going to do much. However, that had more to do with him not having much speed, not getting much separation, getting single covered by the defense’s worst cover guy, and dropping easy catches. That skill set won’t get him far career wise, but maybe a change in scenery will be able to get more out of him. He was good for the occasional highlight reel catch but most games was pretty invisible.

I am guessing he gets cut. If the Patriots desire to help themselves, the sooner the better. He might sign on with another AFC East team. Win win
I am pretty sure the Pats have had him on the trading block all off-season, so if there was a trade to be had, they would have moved him already. He was probably WR5 by this point and that’s not counting the two TEs and White out of the backfield in terms of where he fell in the receiving food chain. He’s such a non-producer that traded, cut, or rostered makes very little difference. He’s been the definition of a JAG.

Maybe it is easier to get a trade done if his agent is allowed to talk to other teams and broker a deal. I would be happy if they got anything for him at this point.

As I just mentioned above, NE has been working the phones trying to move Harry since we’ll before the draft. The agent requesting a trade is window dressing at this point. What he should be asking for is his outright release.
