WR Tyreek Hill, MIA (14 Viewers)

Here is what I don't understand, and I know the QB play has been bad but... the team only gave Hill 2 targets? Waddle only got 2 targets.

I mentioned this before that these QBs they have are scared to push the ball down field. Huntley (and Boyle) loves some TEs. that is fine but when Jonnu Smith has nearly double the combined targets of Hill and Waddle something is wrong. The WRs are dead with Huntley and Boyle as QB. TE season in MIA if they are QB.

Now for this week I just hope Mcdaniel did not spend the bye week working on his latest look and instead buried his head in film trying to find easier creative ways to get Tyreek the ball with Huntely at QB.
I'm actually starting to wonder if McDaniels got his extension and is mailing it in. Cares more about that cool Miami life.

Seriously not sure how you can consider yourself some kind of offensive guru with these results. Had weeks, had the bye week, to find easier/creative ways to simply get the ball in the hands of the of the fastest WR's in the game and has shown nothing.

Huntley was more productive as a passer when he got starts with the Ravens, with Marquise Brown his top WR and Greg Roman as the OC.

I'm 5-2 in my auction league where I paid up big for Tyreek (safest first round pick, lol). If he comes back anywhere near normal with Tua back, I like my chances.

I have a list of criteria for determining safe first round picks. For next year I need to add "Capable backup QB" for first round receivers.

Pretty spot on IMO. McDaniel is way overrated as on offensive guru. I know losing your QB is huge, but with all the offensive talent and speed they have, you should be able to figure a way to avoid a total shiot show. Also, maybe have a backup QB plan in place since your QB has a history of injury and you are a playoff team.

I guess Tua is...kinda good then if McDaniels is not as good as we all thought.

He must be chomping at the bit to show as much too after all the unnecessary crap he's gotten. I hope he comes back and kills it.

I never understood why a backup QB comes in and just checks down all day. If I'm on the fringe of exiting the league, I sure as hell am going to feed Hill & Waddle and hopefully they make me look good. I'd go down swinging.

This happened all the time when Megatron was in Detroit. Backup QBs would get a start and give him 4 targets. I'd have given him 20.

I'm in a similar boat. Paid top dollar for Hill and Breece Hall. If Hill can get back to just normal floor production I should be all right.

I’ve been playing fantasy forever and I’m in 3-4 leagues a year and this year is the first year I grabbed Hill on one of my teams. Hasn’t gone quite how I expected.

Funny enough I grabbed Waddle on my other teams as I wanted as much exposure to the Miami offense as I could get. I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that losing Tua somehow makes this team one of the worst teams in the league despite having ridiculous healthy talent still on the roster at all the other skill positions. I thought McDaniel was an offensive genius but this season has put that theory on pause.

I understand the frustration as I own both Hill and Waddle in different leagues. It all comes down to horrible QB play for this offense. The back up QBs hyper focus on Jonnu Smith as they are scared to throw it downfield.

Tua is also underrated for his ability to read defenses quickly and go through his progressions. Tua has done a great job picking apart defenses. Everyone wanted to point fingers at Tua and say he's a horrible QB - well I think we know that Tua is what stirs this drink.

Week 1 when all offenses seemed to suck Tua threw for 338 yards. Waddle had 5-109 and Hill had 7-130-1. Achane was 7-76 receiving and added another rushing TD.

A healthy Tua goes a long way for this offense. For those that still hate on Tua - who are you getting that can replicate these numbers? I'm open to suggestions if you think you can find a better QB.

You draft till you find one.

You constantly point to “his numbers ” tell me….how about these numbers:

7-15 lifetime vs teams above .500
Averages:

1.22 TD passes vs winning teams
(28 total)

18 ints

84.3 passer rating

And behind this current OL…..he is going to go down again in short order.

Tua has not played well since November of 2023.

December and January he and this HC were exposed as stat accumulators vs sub .500 teams.

Facts. Not stats. Facts.

I never liked the pick, never felt he was a franchise SB caliber QB and while not many are out there…..he can’t perform vs winning teams. So where does that leave this franchise?

Mediocrity purgatory.

But the genius of Chris Grier continues.

Let’s extend a QB who has completed 1 count em 1 complete season and has never won a post season game.

Genius. Like teams were going to pounce on Tua if we had let him play out his 5th year option and say “Hey you play another full season and lead us deep into the post season we will make you the highest paid QB in the League”.

Nope….we fold like a lawn chair and extend this guy who can’t stay healthy and can’t beat winning teams consistently.

Again brilliant. But you keep drinking that Tuanon kool aide my fellow Fins fan.

I want them to incinerate this front office and coaching staff and try again. This window whatever it was, is slammed shut.

On a fantasy level…..The Fins schedule gets a lot tougher.

So Hills prospects with Tua won’t greatly increase….better? Of course. But I would not expect top 5 production vs winning teams. I guess anything is better than the dreck we have seen.

But long term….I see the Dolphins trading Hill after this season.

As Tua looked sharp in his first practice back, Tyreek Hill highlighted his accuracy and timing in the offense as things that stood out.

Hill said there was one of their patented connections at practice, and all he could do was cheese 😁 after it happened.

Jaylen Waddle said Tua and Tyreek Hill were indeed “on one” in their first practice together in a month and a half.

2 days after telling everyone to start him, Tyreek is a DNP on Friday and is now questionable. In his last 84 games, he has missed only 2. 1 of them was the last week of the 2020 season, when the Chiefs rested all their starters. The other was week 15 last year. He seems to always be some sort of injured, but he guts it out. Luckily, he has the early game on Sunday, so you have time to replace him if he is a no-go.

How are people feeling about Tyreek going forward? Is he going to be a top 3 WR again now that Tua is back? Any reason why we should think otherwise?

I'm lowering my expectations.

The offense is going through Achane now. He's out targeting both Hill and Waddle right now. I think until defenses stop this and adjust, Tua is going to take the path of least resistance...which makes sense considering his head injury history.

Hoping D's change their scheme and that opens things up downfield.

Still think he'll be more than solid, but the 30+ point explosions may be few and far between.

This is a tad concerning.

Feel like Tyreek pulls this like every week and then ends up gutting it out.

May need to have D. Robinson handy as a plan B on Monday night.

Dolphins Head Coach Mike McDaniel told reporters Tyreek Hill (wrist) is doing everything possible to play in Week 10 against the Rams.
McDaniel added that “we’ll see” and wouldn’t say he’s optimistic or pessimistic. Hill popped up on the injury report and missed practice with the wrist injury on Friday. The Dolphins have an extra day before their matchup against the Rams on Monday Night Football. Unfortunately, it looks like Hill will need the extra time in order to have a chance to play this week. For fantasy managers, the timing is less than ideal as Hill’s status is unlikely to be determined before kickoff Sunday.

Hill has to be right up there as far as fantasy busts go this year, no?
Hard to label a guy a bust when his performance is really more about Tua's absence.

Was roaming around twitter on this and this a bad rumor where a conversation was overheard at the airport where Hill's agent indicated that Hill isn't playing Monday and he's considering surgery.

Most likely BS, but you never know.

Hmmmm.... Thinking of adding either Atwell or OBJ as an "insruance policy" in case he can't go on Monday. Rams WR group seems hard to decipher, so I'm leaning towards Beckham. I'm assuming he would see more action (hopefully targets) if Hill is a no go, no?

I'd not be calling him the bust of the year or even what I think of as a bust but had Tua remained healthy I supposed we'd be looking at him as one of the more disappointing players of the year drafted in first few rounds.

He's had 3.5 full games with Tua, if I cut that Buffalo game that Tua got hurt at half, and he's put up 56 points and 15 came on one play.

He was generally drafted as THE WR2 and he's performed, with Tua, more like A WR2. So again I don't call that a bust, just very disappointing.

My point is his issues, and Waddle's, are more then Tua's abscence.

I'm already starting C. Kupp Monday night so I'm loathe to go with another Ram, but the O/U is so high Stafford could be in bust out mode with all weapons healthy AND they are getting O linemen back. For that reason, I may double up with D. Robinson who is clearly on Stafford's radar when it comes to TDs.

I'm not sure on Miami WR options. If no Hill, it's going to be the Achane show for sure. Then Waddle, probably a lot of passes to the RBs out of the backfield. Just can't imagine Beckham's ceiling is more than 6-50.

This injury has me nervous. I've got an owner in my league who is sending me Tyreek offers left and right thinking the old Miami offense is back. May try and unload him.

6-50 sounds pretty damn good as a desperation play

Agreed. I'm good with 6-50. The part that scares me is, if that's his ceiling, what's his floor?

OBJ as an insurance policy is an oxymoron .

These weekly questionable tags for Tyreek are annoying AF. He has played in every game and his 80% snap count is his highest in 5 years. Yes, he is having a crappy year, but he has played at least 44 snaps in all 8 games thus far. He is the Cheetah, but unless he is running on all fours (his wrist), he will be out there.

I don't like that we won't know until basically after all the games are done today
GTD
"Hill is doing everything he can"...that sounds like it's uphill climb to make it on the field Monday

I don't see a lot of positivity after he missed the last couple practices

Curious what everyone's plan B is here?

Obvious options and could be available in FA:

* D. Robinson -- #3 on the depth chart, but Stafford keeps finding him in the endzone.

* J. Smith -- Quietly getting targets, maybe more looks with Hill out?

* O. Beckham -- Feel like he's kinda washed, but wouldn't he roll into Tyreek's position?

* J. Wright -- Third fiddle in the backfield, but Moster's fumbling could open the door this week.

conspicuously absent is your choice: Waddle.

I’m guessing Waddle is rostered. I’d go Jonnu. Miami is trying to keep Tua alive so they are having him get rid of the ball quick and Jonnu (and Achane) is benefiting. I’d imagine him getting a lot of targets if Hill sits.
