If he isn’t tagged, we’ll know a lot more about the injury.I’d expect the IRR tag this week.

It’s a well understood injury.Holy cow, internet doctors are killing it! This was super-informative!
Not sure why - they’re all guessing. None are with the team, none have seen his X-rays or MRI/CT results. After watching that, I don’t have high hopes on Worthy making a meaningful return this year
Why would he be a “banged up decoy”?It really sucks because the first six weeks was his time to shine without Rice. Now he comes back as a banged up decoy? Can’t start him or can’t drop him, yet.
No link, just my personal opinion. I don’t think we can expect what we did before the injury. Hope I’m wrong and he ends up being good for fantasy. Why would he be a “banged up decoy”?It really sucks because the first six weeks was his time to shine without Rice. Where are y'all getting these narratives? If he’s ok to play he’s gonna draw targets. Right now all we know is he dislocated his shoulder. The rest is TBD. I fail to see how comments like this are at all helpful.
I mean, if you have a link to something saying he’s going to be a “banged up decoy” by all means, please shave it.

Okay—and I don’t want to come across as abrasive—but we need to drop this whole “internet” doctor shaming thing. The videos that I’m posting are not just from random wannabe doctors that are putting bogus stuff up. You are welcome to research the doctors and find that these are legit Md’s with established merits in the world of sports injuries. The fact that they are sharing their knowledge and giving us their opinions based on a lot of experience and knowledge should be something we are thankful for—and not shaming them for.Kind of. The purpose isn’t to control range of motion as much as it’s there to keep the ball in the socket in the shoulder joint. It’s not necessarily limiting, it’s more there so that if he does take a hit to that shoulder it will stay in place. You can google around to see what they look like. Search “shoulder harness dislocated” and you’ll see em.I would think by definition it would limit range of motion so it can't get extended to a weaker position.Would the brace limit full range of motion? I'm not familiar with how the brace supports this type of injury.
That said, whatever timeline he’s on will be determined by the severity of the dislocation, and what other damage was caused when it popped out. It could be a week, it could be 6 weeks.
The internet docs out there are all guessing if they haven’t seen his MRIs. Anyone who’s dislocated their shoulder can attest that it’s a wide range of possible outcomes.

Secondly—there is not a legitimate doctor on the planet that will tell you that a dislocated shoulder for a full contact sport that involves heavy and full movement of the arm has a recovery time of as little as a week. An AC joint sprain can take longer than a week.
The key to these threads is to be as objective as possible—not to assume a “Cinderella” fairy tale. The dude got absolutely trucked on national television right on the shoulder to where it showed that doctors popped the shoulder back into place—and it was confirmed to be a dislocation. Second opinions were gotten—which is a sign that whatever trauma the shoulder received was complicated enough to warrant one. After two opinions—all we know is that they have decided to not undergo “immediate” surgery—and that he was going to start a rehab regimen and evaluate the results “day by day”. Nothing was said about him returning in one week or six weeks, and nothing has been said about him not potentially having surgery if his rehab doesn’t show the progress they would like to see. If he does come back wearing a brace—that would be a clear indication that his shoulder is compromised as if it wasn’t—he wouldn’t “need” a brace.
Objectively—all we know is that he hasn’t been ruled out for the entire season—and if the does come back—he will be coming back not fully healed and will have a certain level of being compromised (as he he would be forced to wear a brace). That by nature means he will carry risk that was not there when we drafted him.
So far, the “internet” doctors have been right on with their diagnosis. So far, the alleged “pessimist” of this thread easily exposed that the report of Worthy being “day to day” was erroneous and was not at all what Reid said. The fact that “if” he returns—that it will be with a brace—is evidence that he would be coming back with some compromises in his shoulder—whether it be range of motion, instability…etc. As of now—there is ONE thing that Worthy owners should feel optimistic about. That only thing is that he hasn’t had immediate surgery and the hopes of him coming back at some point this season are still technically alive. Slamming and shaming “internet doctors” that have done nothing but share their expertise (and that have been accurate thus far) is not helpful imo.

Internet doctors are guessing. It’s a fact. I don’t GAF how good they are - they aren’t the team doctor and they don’t have access to Worthy’s MRIs.
I didn’t “shame” anyone. I called it like it is. They’re guessing. Educated guesses? Sure. But guesses nonetheless.
And they haven’t been 100%. After it happened I saw everything from collarbone to AC joint to shoulder separation. Then the team said it was dislocated and they narrowed it down.
All I’m saying is we should wait for an update. You’re extremely triggered in here and it’s a little odd. Maybe take a beat and wait for the update.
They are doctors, on the internet. It is a literal description of who they are. I didn’t call them “quacks” - I took at face value that they’re actually who they claim to be (which isn’t always the case in 2025)by calling them “internet doctors’—you are shaming them.
I didn’t either. I posted an update from nbc sports that said that.I’m not the one touting Day to day when the update came out
All good dude - you were, but I’m not taking it personally. In any case, I like and respect you as a contributing member—and the last thing that I want to do is come across as being confrontational. If that’s how I came across—that certainly was not my intention.
Welcome to ignored users.Due respect, that wasn’t worth typing 1K words over.

I’ve said several times I’m not being Pollyanna about this. It is absolutely possible he misses 2, 4, 8 weeks, or the season if he has surgery. Like you, I’ve had this exact injury numerous times until I had it repaired.
But historically speaking we absolutely have seen guys play through this. And again - all due respect to the fine doctors of the internet (better phrasing?) but literally no one knows the type of dislocation this was, or if there was associated damage, outside of that Chiefs locker room. And I’m pretty sure they’re not sharing test results with people on Twitter or wherever.
The type and severity matters for his potential recovery, wouldn’t you agree? It’s difficult to know if his rotator cuff is damaged from watching the video, right? Impossible to know if it’s a partial or full labrum tear - fair?
In that light, let’s wait and see. The only thing worse than rampant optimism over an injury we don’t fully understand is rampant pessimism. Claims that he’ll be a hobbled decoy or won’t be able to play through it, or that it will be limiting are just that right now: claims. Because we won’t know any of that until we know.
And the ways we’ll know are
1. Worthy will show up on the practice report.
2. The team will tell us
3. worthy will tell us.
Outside of those 3 things happening, everyone is just guessing. And in this case even an educated guess is somewhat worthless. Like, I’ve dislocated mine 5x and have the X-rays to prove it - does that make me an expert? Not hardly. My shoulder/arm had no swelling and was pain-free just two weeks after the initial dislocation. I had full range of motion and no loss of strength. No rotator cuff or AC joint damage. And I’m not a pro football player in extraordinary shape like Worthy is.
So again - let’s take a beat. We will all see the practice reports. I’m sure Reid will be asked about it in his pressers all week. Maybe we’ll get some actual information from the team that we can hang our hats on.
For the record, I do not expect Worthy to practice before, or play in week 2’s game.
IMO the most telling bit of information we’ll have is if they place him on the IR-R. Then we know he’s out at least 4 games, and possibly more. Conversely if they don’t do that, we can maybe be a little more optimistic about his situation.
Fair?

I still think he’s the only one on the team that can truly take the top off of a defense, and having Rice back drawing coverage might actually help with that.I think he’s a good player but being elite as a fantasy asset is not something he would be consistently do outside of the role he was tapped for in the next 6 weeks.
Because he's tiny and very banged up. People keep saying "It's just a pain tolerance issue" I don't think many are considering how it feels to be tackled by an NFL player. Just the action of sprinting off the line, maybe, fighting off press coverage is going to require a lot of pain tolerance. Why would he be a “banged up decoy”?It really sucks because the first six weeks was his time to shine without Rice. Now he comes back as a banged up decoy? Can’t start him or can’t drop him, yet.
Wait, have you heard that he’s playing? I don’t think anyone has argued that he should be in lineups this week.I agree that, unless you have no other options, he should not be in lineups this week.
I’ve said it multiple times. Definitely considering it.I don't think many are considering how it feels to be tackled by an NFL player.
This very much depends on the type of dislocation, and severity of peripheral injuries (or if there are any). If he didn’t hurt his rotator cuff, and if it’s not an anterior dislocation, his ability to reach, extend, or catch should be fine. He's a WR, his shoulder is kinda important to that job. His ability to extend to catch passes will certainly be compromised.
My dislocation for reaching for Worthy cleared up pretty quickly with Hollywood in the 14th.Wait, have you heard that he’s playing? I don’t think anyone has argued that he should be in lineups this week.I agree that, unless you have no other options, he should not be in lineups this week.

These are among the many, many things we do not know at this time, so we shouldn’t be making blanket statements about them. We will know them soon enough. If they don’t IRR him, we will have one thing answered. If he plays with a harness/brace, we will have some idea of other things.
It’s a whole lot of TBD.
No, I haven't. If he isn't able to play this week then change it to next week, or the week after etc.Wait, have you heard that he’s playing? I don’t think anyone has argued that he should be in lineups this week.I agree that, unless you have no other options, he should not be in lineups this week.
Alas, mine has not. Kirk was my next man up and he was down from the jump.My dislocation for reaching for Worthy cleared up pretty quickly with Hollywood in the 14th.
You’re writing him off for the year? Huh.No, I haven't. If he isn't able to play this week then change it to next week, or the week after etc.
Wow. Worth noting that a separation is worse than a dislocation. That’s one tough SOB!Emmitt Smith played through the pain of a separated shoulder in the final game of the 1993 regular season to lead the Dallas Cowboys to a 16-13 overtime victory against the New York Giants on January 2, 1994. Despite suffering the injury in the second quarter, Smith returned to finish with 168 rushing yards and 61 receiving yards, setting up the game-winning field goal to secure the NFC East title for the Cowboys.
Literally anyone would have dislocated their shoulder on that hit. That’s just physics.(I think most players would’ve been hurt running full speed into a 250lb TE also running full soeed, but I digress)
Yep - pretty much expected.Worthy not at practice today, no surprise. He’s not playing this week and not for a few more IMO. That’s if he even gets to the point where he comfortable catching the football.
According to coach Andy Reid, Worthy -- who suffered a right shoulder injury during Week 1 action -- is doing better and making progress, with surgery is not currently under consideration for the wideout
That must mean they think it is a 2-4 week injury. But I would still plan on Worthy being out 4 games.Yep - pretty much expected.Worthy not at practice today, no surprise. That said, they have not put him on the IRR.
That’s my take-away, yes. Could be anywhere from 2-4.That must mean they think it is a 2-4 week injury. But I would still plan on Worthy being out 4 games.
That’s a strange conclusion to draw from this.I think the moral of this story is that the Chiefs WR situation looks a lot like the Chiefs RB situation the past few years. Too many guys and no one near good enough to stand out.
Agreed. Add in the Rice suspension. We could actually see a game with a healthy Rice and Worthy lined up. That's damn solid. That’s a strange conclusion to draw from this.
Injuries happen. We don’t actually know what Worthy would have done had he not been KO’d on the 3rd snap of the game.
This was a fluke.

The Chiefs now have another rotating quagmire at WR of 'who's in, who's out' and once they're in or out, no one knows if they're going to be any good, because none of them are really any good. It sucks that it's because of injuries, but that's what it is.
And it looks like the RB situation of the past few years. CEH, Pacheco, Hunt. Same story. None of those guys were reliable productive options. Weekly fill-in? Maybe. Set it and forget it. Nope.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that no offensive player on this team is going to be a fantasy standout this year. Banged up, suspended, old, what have you.
No.You’re writing him off for the year? Huh.No, I haven't. If he isn't able to play this week then change it to next week, or the week after etc.
Ok I gotta respond to this. Go back and watch the film. Emmitt took a pounding. I was a Giants, Jets, and Raiders fan back then. I remember Emmitt doing that. His line was opening up canyons and Madden was throwing a fit like he was the toughest guy in the world. I wanted to vomit. That was one of the last times Dallas had a serious shot at going anywhere. LOL.

Me too!!!! Ha haWill participate in practice today in some capacity.
