That's what I was thinking. Why pay for something you can get free? Unless I am not understanding what a draft report is.KIPER ??? ................ Good points!I usually get the sporting news' draft guide...I understand your point about why pay for info you can get for free but 1) for me it's more convient to read info in a mag 2)I keep all the draft guides I buy so I can compare/contrast what they're saying about a guy in this year's draft vs a guy from three(or however many) years ago and it helps me know which part of their analysis is valid and what things I can ignore.
I think I'm going to stop picking up PFW this year. Just hasn't been the same without Buchsbaum unfortunately. Always been a fan of Coyle, but thinking about trying something new this year. Might take a look at GM Jr and Draft Scout this year based on the recommendations of a couple heavy hitters around here. CB, is Lande pretty solid with the middle rounders?I get PFW, GM Jr., Waldman, Coyle and Sporting News.
For those unsure what the Waldman Report is, here is a preview. There are links at the bottom profiling Chad Henne and Albert Young. If I was going to pay for a draft report (which I'm not), I would go with Matt Waldman's.
I should have added that I subscribe to Draft Scout as well. I like Lande's depth a lot. I remember hearing about Derek Stanley, the WR from Wisc. Whitewater last year and having trouble finding out anything about him. Then I get Lande's guide and he scouted 3 of Stanley's games and devotes just as much space to him as Calvin Johnson. Of course, at a certain point some late rounders get less coverage. But I think he goes as deep as anyone.I think I'm going to stop picking up PFW this year. I have found the 'free' advice around here is usually centered on the top 10 or so consensus picks at QB/WR/RB. That is a nice discussion to have, but many of the professional scouting reports cover literally hundreds of incoming rookies. I for one don't have time to watch tape/analyze hundreds of guys, so I don't mind forking over a bit of coin to someone who does a good job of it. Personally I love Waldman's RSP, but to each their own. After winnings, I still end up paying a few hundred bucks a year in various dynasty league annual fees. $10 or so each year is a small price to pay to get solid rookie analysis. Those post 1st rd rook pick ups that become solid FF contributors to my team have enormous value IMO.That's what I was thinking. Why pay for something you can get free? And down on Meacham. My dynasty teams thank you.My report (Waldman) is called the Rookie Scouting Portfolio
Here are more samples from 2006 and 2007:
Santonio Holmes
Maurice Jones Drew
Mike Bell
Laurence Maroney
Jason Hill
Wali Lundy
Leon Washington
Bruce Gradkowski
While I have my misses--as does everyone--I was unusually high on Bradshaw, Edwards, Beck, and Selvin Young prior to the 2007 draft.
