Your Celebrity Doppleganger(s) (2 Viewers)

When I was younger, I was often told I looked like Sean Penn.  Total strangers would come up to me and tell me that.  That was in my early to mid 20's.

I have not heard it since (45 now).
If you've seen Sean Penn lately, you're really happy, I'd assume.

Considering a doppelgänger is a paler version of one's self, it's awfully hard for me to do. There really is no doppelgänger of me, other than maybe the Encyclopedia Britannica kid from our youth, but that's a stretch.

eta* And much like the dude upthread, people used to give me Corey Feldman or Patrick Swayze all the time in my youth. It was often people of color that did that, proving that yes, we all look alike to certain folks.  (Because I look nothing like Patrick Swayze or Corey Feldman.)

eta2* And Donovan Freberg looks more like my friend Scott than me, so maybe I'm just projecting here.

When Sex and the City was on, I got Chris Noth all the time. All. The. Time. I actually ran with this as my FB profile pic for about a month, and noone said anything. I'll still get a random Noth from time to time, but nothing like it used to be when that show was on.

Every now and then I get mistaken for Brian Sipe.
That's certainly off of the beaten path, if not for this board.

If somebody came up to me and said "Hey man, you know who you look like? Brian Sipe!" I'm not sure what I'd really say.

Probably "Cool," or something like that.

25-30 years ago I got Tom Cruise all the time, but it's probably been 20 years at least since hearing that.  Now I hear either Sullivan Stapleton or a younger Eric Clapton the short hair version

John Cusack or Nicolas Cage (shudder).  No way I look like either, but that’s what I’ve been told.

How come you don't hear Tom Cruise anymore? He's just as famous as he was back then, and you've aged for the same amount of time.

I don't know about the doppelganger part, but the one famous person I've been compared to is Dan Aykroyd, originally as he appeared in Trading Places, but now probably more like when he was in Grosse Pointe Blank.

Fortunately, he's one of my favorite actors/comedians, so I usually feel better about myself when I hear that.

Unfortunately, my wife isn't a doppelganger of his wife. That would have been epic; we could have dressed as them every Halloween.

I get Blake Shelton all the time. I dont see it, but if I ever run into Gwen Stefani I hope she thinks Im him.

jake gyllenhaal when i have a beard. Giovanni ribisi when i dont. How is that for a weird spectrum? I dont see either, but i get them enough there must be something to them.

Now - Jason Bateman

5 years ago - Coach Taylor from FNL

10 years ago - Ron Livingston (main character in Office Space)

Office Space Guy was the one I got all the time. But Coach is still my go to Halloween costume. Blue hat and windbreaker, headphones around my neck and Oakleys. BTW, ladies love Coach Taylor. They all wish their husband was like him. As does mine.

I’ve had Vin Diesel (no clue why except no hair) and the brother from Prison Break who was the original inmate.

But forget what people say - what does science say:

I think we did this with a recent photo and my top 3 were:

Xander Berkeley

Robert Burke

John Cameron Mitchell

I just tried this and got

Scott Bakula

Dan Rather

Ed Helms.

Was only 53% match though. Don't think I look like any of those except very vaguely.

I’ve gotten former Red Sox GM Ben Cherington a lot, as well as ex-Giants coach Jim Fassel and NBA ref Steve Javie.

I get American Sniper version of Brad Cooper a lot.  My best bud Soup refers to me as fat brad, but he’s an inconsiderate ####### and his name is Soup so what do I care.

One point around the time I graduated I looked like the dorky guy with glasses from dazed and confused. Then I grew a beard and looked like trey anastasio, mostly because I happened to have similar glasses and same hair color. However, if you were ever at a phish show in the Midwest (alpine valley or deer creek in particular) and you saw trey riding a bike thru the lot it very well may have been me.  Now I look more like a fatter, dorkier version of Conner MacGregor, with glasses.

Me now

Me circa 2004ish? Playing bass still kinda look like Dork from dazed and confused
