00's Mixtape Draft (3 Viewers)

Once in a while a song comes along that--from its very first notes--picks you up, thrashes you around, and doesn't let go until it's done with you. There are songs that, when you first hear them, you need to hit replay immediately and experience that #### again. This is that song for me. And no other song will do. Sorry, Marco.

1.whatever: McLusky - Lightsaber Cocksucking Blues (1:51; 98:09 remaining)

Damn. Now I wish I hadn't endorsed you. It's all good. There's plenty o' McLusky to go around (just not in 1:51).

Man, I'm having trouble finding value up in this draft.
Right there with you.
Well, I think "The Rat" is widely thought of as one of the best of the decade, so nicely done there.I think I've settled on a tune for my next pick, but I'm not really sure if it's a good value play.
Sack up and roll it out there, bro. :drive:
Not waiting for pmike?
he said to skip him so go ahead.

Not sure where we are with that. Where did he go?

Super fun band with some of the funniest titles and lyrics (The Difference Between Me and You is that I'm Not on Fire, "my band is better than your band, we take more drugs than a touring funk band", "pay your fluffer by the yard", "all of your friends are c###s, and your mother is a ball point pen thief," My Pain and Sadness is More Sad and Painful than Yours etc.). I miss them.Has anybody heard The Future of the Left?

A few guys here are pretty up on them. I liked a couple tunes off the last album, but was surprised at how solid the previous one was after a recent re-listen.

I hate to break it to Humanzee, but I own that album---I'm not kidding. It's good. :drive:
I'm glad! It is, of course, an exagerration to say that my picks will be so obscure that no one will have heard of them. I just doubt that anybody else will likely consider them among "the best of the decade" as I do.
Just giving you ####.That New Year album is strong. Looking forward to the rest of your mix.

Can I get a ruling on secret songs? The song I'm considering is the end of a long track after a few minutes of silence, but I only want the last bit of that track. It's a separate composition, and can be found as such, it just isn't listed that way on the track list.

For things like this, we had this criteria:- Any version (album, single edit, radio edit, remix etc.) of a song will be allowed, including live versions, but you must be able to produce the version of the song you select on your final mixtape, and once the song is taken in any form, it is off the board. So if it can be found as its own song, it's good.

Sorry OH, I thought it was Krista that Pmed. Never looked at sender

Who let Pirate Mike in. :goodposting:

Takes my next pick. Oh well. It didnt fit my theme so he actually helped me. was only taking it for value

I am just speaking from my experience in previous drafts but we had previously been pretty strict that the whole track as featured on the officially released CD has to be included (i.e. you can't just include a portion of the track). I'll let NV chime in though since he's commish.

2.18 Outkast - B.O.B. (5:04; 93:05 left)
GREAT pick. IMO this group's best of the decade. And that's saying something.
:goodposting: was going to be my pick

####### love this song
This one was great times at the wedding.
I was crucified for taking this in round 1 of the "black music draft".
As well you should be. An amazing song by an amazing artist but it's not even one of the top 25 hip-hop songs of all time, let alone a top 25 song by a black artist of all time.

How many black artists have been represented so far in this draft? I'm pretty sure I got Wolf Like Me in that one as well. If it's the #1 or #2 song by a black artist in the 00s (EDIT - and accoriding to P4K, the best song of the entire decade), does it not have a place in the top tier of all time?

Anyway, that discussion was probably best left in that thread - which seems to be gone now.

Wow, I am really lost on new music. Very few bands I've heard, or at least are aware of hearing, though most of the names are at least familiar. Never liked Radiohead, didn't like Green Day's later albums but I think Modest Mouse is the second greatest band of all time, so I got that going for me. This is going to be very interesting...
