Hey guys, what kind of beer should I get tonight? Looking for something under 8 bucks. Goose Island, maybe? Thoughts?
Eight bucks a bottle?
Was thinking a six pack. They have those in Canada?
You get any westcoast stuff at ur hole?Anderson Valley?Rogue?North Coast?Stone?Bear Republic?Russian River?Nectar?Lagunita?Actually.Get some Dogfish Head. It's not available in Cali.At least I can live vicariously through a brother music nerd.eta -> I wanted to double-check my facts, so I went to the website. NOW AVAILABLE IN CALI!!!!! :lmao: (actually has been for 2 years :lmao: - Closest distributor is 45 minutes away :lmao: )
One of the largest liquor stores in the world is just a couple blocks from me, so I can get all of this stuff, but I'm pretty sure its all over ten bucks a sixer.

Yeah, you're looking at well over $8 for all of those. Might be able to get some of the lower-end Lagunitas for $8-9....at least you can here.....but it's like the Pils or the Pale Ale.....which aren't bad of course....but aren't super exceptional IMO....

OuchActually, that's the main reason we've switched to wine as of late.2-Buck Chuck :lmao:

Yeah. For Lagunita, it's pretty much IPA or nada.Sierra's got a couple of more recent offerings that are decent (and usually a little lower priced).Just tried their Southern Hemisphere Harvest and liked it a lot. ( :lmao: JML) eta -> nother doh! been out for 2 years . . .

Love the beer nerd/music nerd synergy we've got going on in here. Can there be too much nerdery for one thread?

So I caved and blew 15 bucks on Bell's HopSlam. It's tasty to say the least.

:yucky:Doesn't get much better for me than beer and music nerdery mixed together.

2.06 - Spoon - The Way We Get By

Spoon is so consistent and they have so many good songs, picking just one is almost impossible - even moreso with them being my favourite band. I wasn't a music nerd until the mid-00s, I mostly listened to whatever played on the radio. This was one of the first songs that sent me to explore further all the music out there that didn't get played on the radio. After listening to this, I immediately went out and downloaded everything they had ever done. By the time Gimme Fiction came out, they were without question my favourite band.

Here's a review from Pitchfork:

Spoon were late bloomers. The first seven years of the band's career yielded many great songs, but in retrospect, Britt Daniel and Jim Eno spent all of that time gradually refining the elements of their style into a striking aesthetic all their own. "The Way We Get By" is their breakthrough, and it still stands as the track that best defines the Spoon sound: rhythm and melody pared down to the barest essentials; extremely dry piano mingling with tight-pocket percussion; Daniel's sexy rasp hitting a perfect balance of cool aloofness and genuine emotional investment. The lyrics may namecheck some Iggy Pop classics, but the melodic sensibility is more like an alternate universe version of Billy Joel raised on the minimal punk of Wire. For longtime fans, this mastery of style and form was well worth the wait, but for just about everyone else, it was a revelation. --Matthew Perpetua

Thought you would've used your first rounder on this one.

I'm a bigger beer nerd than I am music nerd...I'm a bit out of my league compared to some of the "big guns" in this thread...Wish we got Hopslam here....I have to order it online or trade for it. That stuff's brand new too....like a week or two old....enjoy it while it's fresh...

I'm pretty sure I could wait a few rounds for this one (and I'm absolutely sure I would have gotten booted if I picked it at 1.01) but here goes anyway.

2.02 Amerie

This kind of got lost at the bottom of the last page but this is a great song.

Yep, I figured I'd splurge now while it's fresh. Never done the beer it forward thing, but if you're hard up I'll give it a shot.

Let me know if there's a variety of 2-Buck Chuck you're interested in trying!

I can't afford to trade these days....never realized how expensive trading was until I did it a few times. Looking at $15-20 for shipping costs alone. You get Founders there too? That's another great one we don't get here.

First of all, big thanks to whomever put the running time in for my 1st-round pick (Hey Ya, 4:11).

And for my second round, I'll continue holding off on my rock picks and continue plucking my faves from the rap/hip-hop milieu.

Yep. I mean, it's not available everywhere around here, but this place is right up the street, so I can get about anything:http://www.thepartysource.com/beer.php
