20.23 Fiona Apple - Get Him Back (5:25)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oj6cvOipaFI

Love the vibe on this song

Where did Fiona Apple disappear to?

Oh, and with all the gushing over Taylor Swift elsewhere in this forum (ZOMG! SHe writes her own songs and picks at the guitar), it's worth noting that Fiona Apple was 18 when Tidal was released
Such a great songwriter. When The Pawn... is vastly underrated. I liked the newish one alot too.
I like all 3 of her albums a bunchVery talented

Also find her very hot

That Criminal video?

Yikes, :powerboner:

*= bands I fully expected to be taken but weren't, unless I missed some.Like I said, Modest Mouse would be in there with two songs probably and some of the shorter punk songs would be out. Many of the youtube videos are not the versions I have for the mix and obviously I have the missing ones . Any suggestions on where to link those songs other then youtube and I will do so. Had to rearrange so i am not sure this will be the final order. And i think I stuck with the limitations of 6 per artist. And I was wrong, I would've considered Lazy Eye to be a snipe.
Trail of the Dead and Common both had songs taken.
Ben Folds too. At least one more from him will go.
:bowtie: I took a song featuring Pharoahe Monch...not sure I could spend 2 picks on him though...

My favorite Pharoahe tracks are from '99. ;)

And yet you didn't take him in the 90's mixtape draft either . . .

Neither were asterisked as such.
Yes, see, he can make pompous claims all he wants, but you need to pay attention to his asterisks man!
What pompous claims did I make?
I thought it was pretty weak that you made a point to let us know that your great bands didn't get taken. Maybe I was alone there.

:lmao: I got cold feet at the last second and wasn't sure if I'd be able to make it flow if I got some rap in there. "Simon Says" and "The Truth" are sick, though.Truth had me up against the ropes, semi-conscious without no boxing skill...

Edit: Listening to it right now. So good.

20.16 - Kanye West feat. Jay-Z and J. Ivy - "Never Let Me Down"

I didn't think this one really had a chance of being sniped, but I'd be remiss if I didn't take it.

This song features, quite simply, the single best hip hop verse I've ever heard. Without question. The third verse, sung by the essentially still-unknown J. Ivy is just phenomenal. He kills it. Both Jay-Z and Kanye are pretty good on the track, especially Jay-Z, and that's saying a bit because I don't really like Jay-Z all that much. But neither of them even comes close to J. Ivy on this one.

Here's him doing the verse I'm speaking about in spoken word on Def Poetry:

Not my intention at all. I was genuinely shocked that they weren't, as I thought they were well thought of. Eli is the only Decemberists song I like and I guess I thought Two Gallants was more widely acclaimed than to have no selections. Those two and FM were the only bands I was talking about when I said that, that's why they alone were asterisked. The other ones not taken are pretty niche bands that though I really like them, even I would hesitate to call them great.

I asked this before but got no answer

Can I download something from itunes and will it allow you guys to play it

If not, what sites can I use besides Amazon

Also, would there be any interest at all in having a punk rock draft later in the year?

Would think if we could get 15 people, we can put together some great mixes

if you want to buy music, I know people who don't hate emusic.com -- definitely skewed towards an indie crowd though, I think there's a few of the big labels they don't have on board. But they have some things that surprised me when I looked a few years ago. I think they've gorwn considerably since then.

That sounds like a trainwreck of music nerds arguing over what is and isn't PUNK.Having said that, IN

I think iTunes is DRM free now but I think they still use MP4 instead of MP3 technology, I could be wrong. You're much safer as far as sharing files if you purchase from Amazon though, from a comparability standpoint.

Remember the punk/alternative band member draft we had back on ole yeller?I remember much of my lineup:

D. Boon (m.vocals)

Wendy O. Williams (f.vocals)

Bob Stinson (guitar)

Flea (bass)

Tres Cool (drums)

In true punk fassion we never finished . . .

As long as we get a good group like this draft I would think no one cares what someone else thinks is punk. I know I don't. I just want to hear great mixes.

Emusic usually gives 50-75 free mp3s on a free trial basis. They are subscription-based, so you pay a set amount each month for a set number of mp3s. But if you cancel during the trial period, you can avoid paying the subscription fee and just get the freebies.I'm guessing the best bet for individual mp3s is amazon though.
