100 Greatest Movies of the 80’s - Not on Timschochet’s list (2 Viewers)

With thanks to our friend Timschochet who provokes excellent discussion, but his rankings are definitely his own.
Also thanks to shuke and scoresman and others who have done similar before

So with that in mind, this list will only have 3 rules.

1) If it’s on Timschochet’s list it’s not eligible. *See below
2) I want to focus on International and foreign language films to some degree. *See below
3) The final rankings will be mine. I will solicit opinions and lean heavily on other forum members. But my decisions.

1* - I will pick 10 movies of my choice from Tim’s list that look out of place, to rerank appropriately. So really only 90 “new” movies
2* - Out of the 90 “new” entries, I would like between 30-50 to be International and or/foreign language movies

Part 2 is where i will need some expertise. I suspect we have some major film buffs with a passion for good movies, regardless of where they are from or what language they are in.
I’m looking at you @Don Quixote and @krista4 , but anyone with knowledge is welcome to PM me their thoughts.

All i ask is you just PM me a list for consideration. Thats it. No write ups, deep discussions or essays required.
I will have some back and forward to clarify certain movies or ask opinions.

Are documentaries eligible? I think Tim left out documentaries. I think 80s and KP excluded documentaries from their list too. Could be venue to give them some love.
Yes. Documentaries are eligible.
Im not asking anyone else apart from me to overthink this.
Just PM a list of their fave movies from the 80s, preferably a list of foreign/foreign language films

We had a lot of foreign films on ours but you are correct we excluded docs.

PM sent with some 80s foreign films I liked. :) I didn't try to do all the "greatest" from the era, just those I've actually seen.

Sorry I was a teenager during the entirety of the 80's. Wasn't really into international film then. Haven't sought any out either in the time since.

I'll send my list of cheese. Do with it what you will.

I was born in '75. The 80's are when my buddies and I wanted to rent movies with boobs in em. Domestic, or international boobs, didn't matter.

I'm half joking.......my 80's movie preferences are very personal, just like all y'all. I can't imagine an 80's list without certain movies......some of those movies other people think are garbage. It's all so very subjective, and nostalgic.

I have received some international/foreign language lists.
Thank you. Would like some more. Muchos gracias

Also received a few lists of omissions, which is great too.

You mean like The Beastmaster. I loved that movie and it was on HBO all the time in the mid 80's. Haven't seen it in many years. Not even sure it is streaming anywhere.

Rambo 1 and Rambo 2!!!!. Rambo fueled a massive purchase for young boys. Massive knifes that had fishing line inside. We all had that knife and we knew how to use the compass attached to it

I can with just Rambo sequels but First Blood is a masterpiece
Part 2 was better
Rambo 2 completely undoes everything the first establishes. It's a huge middle finger to the original. Hate it.

Hell, he didn’t even kill anyone in First Blood. Rambo isn’t Rambo without the carnage.

It weird. I always viewed them as separate movies. The first one had a little depth and addressed PTSD a bit while the second one was just a cool kill em all movie. While I agree the 2nd didn't exactly take the baton to finish the race, it had some damn good 80s bang to it. The torture scene alone has everything I need. Ha ha

Rambo 2 is like if they made...

Born on the 5th of July and Tom Cruise is shooting Libyans with lasers from his jet powered wheelchair

The Dead Poet Society: Carpe Deux where Robin Williams is the head master going Charles Bronson style against a gang of troubled teens enrolled in his boarding school

Durden: The NYC police are getting their butts kicked by hardened criminals until new recruit Tyler Durden enlists a small group of them into his Fight Club, a deeply secrative training designed to turn any average cop into a war machine.

He threw the rock that knocked Galt out of the helicopter. You could say he killed him (even if it was self defense and an accident), Oh and he killed a dog

This is high-level **** here, and I can’t think of an elevator pitch out of the three that I wouldn’t use my zero dollars that I had to be every one of those movies’ angel investors. Bravo, sir.

LOL

Rambo 2 story:
I'm watching it in the theater with a friend.
Asian woman in film says "You're not disposable, Rambo".
Me in audience: "Oh no, she's toast!".
She was dead within 10 seconds.
Now that's predictable!

I cannot possibly be the only one who wants to see at least one if not all three of these movies made now. . . right?

I'm kind of surprised they haven't made a "Tom Cruise shooting Libyans with lasers from his jet powered wheelchair" movie yet.
