I am disappointed we didn't get Suh or McCourty, but at least they aren't overpaying for players. DLine is a huge need but overpay someone with the nickname pos roast is only going to put us back in cap hell. Hell if Knighton was really all that JDR would have pushed to sign him. Spend wisely. There are still players out there that will us better.
Would you rather "overspend" on a couple really good players or field the team they are putting out on the field? They did overspend on a blocking TE with hands of stone so there's that I guess.
I would have rather over spent for Suh and McCourty. I honestly don't think the Raiders were ever in the running for Suh due to team situation and state tax laws, as was mentioned earlier in this thread. And the Pats re-signed McCourty. Soooooooooo, who else you have in mind to over spend?
I think Suh was chasing the money, but hey maybe not. To answer the question:
McPhee
Hughes
Maxwell
Maclin
Iupati
Graham
Knighton
Odrick
To name a few. And I would not have cut Branch to not have to pay him a $1 million roster bonus. Teams can sign good players without ending up in cap hell. What good is $70 million in cap space if you don't use it? I'm not saying sign everyone, but this year there were many good players available. To not end up with a few of the really good ones with that cap space is inexcusable.
I felt the same way after the Suh deal was announced, but I do not think the Raiders were ever a serious contender for his services, honestly. BTW, Maclin and Hughes re-signed with their old teams and Graham was not a free agent.
I agree about not making a run at Maxwell. Maybe they think he is a product of the system? Remember how we all lost our minds when Nnamdi signed with the Eagles?
Iupati would have been newsworthy, but how much better would that have made us? They still have a shot at Knighton although I do not think he is a difference maker. Strange that the two teams that knew him best didn't make "competitive" bids. Maybe he has overestimated his value? Odrick isn't a done deal yet, unless I missed it, but he would be a nice addition.
