I just don't get casting shade on Reggie, or any key figure in the organization at this point. Things seem to be heading in the right direction.
Playoff talk is silly for this year but this season is a great lesson for a young team. Trying to win meaningful games while banged up this year will pay off next season. The Raiders have to get into the playoffs next season. Anything less is a disappointment. This team is just a few players away.A win is a win. The Raiders of recent years would have absolutely pissed this game away somehow. There are glaring holes and I think playoff talk is silly this year, but it's starting to look more and more like next season could be a breakout one. The pressure is really on Reggie now to give Del Rio the right tools to compete.
Yes, I think another true tailback is a must. I have zero interest in Lamar Miller I would take Starks or Ivory over him.I'll second your L Miller thought, but Forte is ancient in RB years. pass.
In reality good RB's are available every year deep into the draft. I too am not sold on Murray as anything more than a 2 down back.
its because they dont believe brother ...they just dont believeI do not get multiple people saying playoff talk is silly. How exactly is it silly when they are one game out? I also agree that playoff experience does matter and agree it would be better to make the playoffs and get destroyed than be sitting home on wildcard weekend.
I don't think it's silly from a mathematical standpoint, but I just think there are more immediate goals that should take precedence - such as maybe getting another win or two.ICON211 said:I do not get multiple people saying playoff talk is silly. 8-8 was my answer at the beginning of the year and is my answer now. A wildcard playoff spot would just be icing on the cake.Let me throw this out there: As it stands right now, what would you consider a successful 2015 Raiders season? Playoffs? Winning season? Are we there already?
Also, what was your answer to that going into the year?
I consider major progress a successful season and as long as the team does not collapse down the stretch and remains competitive in every game we have achieved that already. I would love to make the playoffs and they are within reach, but I would not call the season a failure if they don't make it. Next season making the playoffs is a must.Let me throw this out there: As it stands right now, what would you consider a successful 2015 Raiders season? Playoffs? Winning season? Any getting of your hopes up prior to this year is entirely your fault. Prior to this year anyone who was paying attention to what the Raiders were dealing with when McKenzie took the reins hand no reasonable expectation to be anything but a bad team. Last year's acquisitions were about nothing more than putting as many veterans with championship experience on the roster as possible to help teach the young roster what it takes to get to that level.I'm thrilled we have finally found our franchise QB in Carr and paired him with the best young WR prospect the Raiders have had since Tim Brown. And we are playing competitive NFL caliber football, and not the poor excuse for what we've been given to get our hopes up during the McKenzie era (prior to this year).
My thoughts exactly. I did not think the Raiders were going to the playoffs but thought they could be decent. They are decent. They are a little more than decent. Carr, Cooper, and Crabs have delivered this season. Even talk about the playoffs in December is a big step for this team.Said 8-8 before the year but I have seen enough to already consider this a successful season. They are in the conversation for a playoff spot on December first? That's incredible. There is a ton of reason for optimism in Oakland and that is something that couldn't be said for over a decade.
Wow! You are still on this? So, prior to this year Reggie hasn't done anything, right? I know it has been said to you before, but this team was a hot mess when Reggie took over. We were in cap hell, with a roster full of under performing over paid players. You can criticize his first draft but not year two. That draft netted Mack, Carr, Jackson, Ellis, McGill, Carrie and Harris. All are contributing. At least 2, maybe 3 are budding super stars. If Al could have a had a couple of drafts like that in his last decade we wouldn't have had to suffer thru double digit losing season for over a decade.I'm thrilled we have finally found our franchise QB in Carr and paired him with the best young WR prospect the Raiders have had since Tim Brown. Just for the record year two netted D.J. Hayden, Menelik Watson, Sio Moore, Tyler Wilson, Latavius Murray, Mychal Rivera etc...Wow! You are still on this? Not sure why you can't let this go. Geez.

Mack, Carr, Jackson was year 3 for Reggie.
Why?massraider said:Would you trade a 2nd rounder for Calvin Johnson this offseason?
Alterraun Verner or Leodis McKelvin make a whole lot more sense if they are on the chopping block.massraider said:http://www.spotrac.com/blog/early-2016-cap-casualty-candidates/
A very good salary cap site with potential salary cap casualties. Would you trade a 2nd rounder for Calvin Johnson this offseason?
I don't think they are even allowed to have contact with him while he is suspended. On defense they should be doing everything possible to get A. Smith focused and clean.
I thought they changed the rules during this past off season.I think you are correct, which is unfortunate because the players in these situations need as much help as possible.
I wonder if they are allowed to help a player through an intermediary?

Agreed, but give it time. The kid has all the potential in the world.Very disppointing performance by Carr today. The entire game swung on the overthrown pass to a wide open Crabtree, then the INT on the next play.
Carr showed very poor pocket presence and decision making today. Hopefully he learns from his mistakes.
Understood, it's frustrating to see them so close. I know the WRs have done some great things this season, but the drops today were killing me.I agree. Just venting.
