Any DT/NT on the radar...or will they stick with Raji cheap (and think they will).

Ellis from the Jets and option for the line?

Getting locked into Cobb and Bulaga for 2 years each at a premium price for the position isn't an issue when the salary cap is projected to jump another 17 million next year.

They are god young players. Pay them.

I'd be happy getting Raji back at <$4M this year. At 28 and losing time to injuries he's got a lot left in his legs, and has the size needed for NT.

Raji was horrific two years ago (AJ Hawk horrific). Again, don't know why they want to bring him back. I would be looking into Dan Williams. Big time run stuffer.

Raji at NT was good...at DE was bad.

Dont mind it as a cheap option...but not as an only option. Wondering if Williams signs elsewhere before Ted is even awake in free agency.

Just can't get visions of Raji using the swim move on every play. I am not sure what the market will be for NT. And we know TT doesn't break the bank on outside free agents (I am a huge TT fan, by the way). Williams was a difference maker on running downs which we really need. More so than ILB right now. Might just be wishful thinking on my part.

Agreed on NT being a need.

Just think Williams signs quick...and that is never TTs game. Stays out of the first week of free agency and lets the prices come down before slowly dipping his toes in.

Hos biggest moves of Peppers and Woodson were 2nd to 3rd wave signings.

He wont ever overpay for outside talent...which is typically a good thing.

I'm encouraged from not hearing anything about Bulaga. That could mean other teams are wary of him being able to move back to LT or paying him record RT money. The Packers have $7M/year on the table for him, which would match the current highest paid RT... I hope he accepts. Since no other team is heavily linked to him right now he might fall to the second week of free agency and only be getting offers around what the Packers are offering.

They are going to bring back Guiton and I think Raji comes back since very few teams want to give him money do to performance and injury of last year. I dont see this being a big issue even with Guiton getting a couple games off. They also like Pennel and Thorton kid could emerge with a full offseason.

Can't see letting Bulafa go unless he gets outrageous money.

It's fine to slightly overpay to keep that line together. Let's not all forget the problems that line had in years prior.

the difference between Bulaga and Barclay is worth paying extra for.

Additionally, if Bulaga leaves, that becomes an early draft need when there are other positions to focus on.

In my opinion, Bulaga was a more important need than Cobb. Really hope they sign him before FA starts.

Locking up Cobb...Suh out of the division...Marshall out of the division.

Not a bad few days for the Packers.

I heard a rumor about a year ago that they were done trying to lose but I guess my source was wrong. :lmao:

You can likely add in that AP would rather play for the Gophers over the Vikings right now.

LOVING what is going on in the division. Detriot may lose Fairley too and it is likely their defense will fall back to middle of the road.

Everything points to GB having a cakewalk to the division title.

At the same time, we may lose Bulaga, House, and Tramon. Those may not be as blockbuster as Suh/Fairley/Marshall/Peterson but GB may be hit by FA as well.

Not concerned about any losses on the defensive side of the ball. Need fresh blood w some young guys in the draft. Should also have free agent bucks for a few new faces.

I'm concerned with corner. Shields is our #1, but its unknown after that. I thought Hayward was going to be a good one, but he kind of disappeared after his rookie year (although much of that is to do with injuries).

Not really comfortable with the #2 spot if Williams leaves. Even if they resign House, as he's largely unproven. Every team has holes, just something to note.

I agree. Let's not pretend that the Packers aren't going to lose anybody. They had a lot of free agents and only have signed 2 so far. Bulaga could be gone.House could be gone. Williams could be gone. Guilon could be gone. Hawk is already gone. Kuhn could be lost. That's at least 3 starters (Bulaga, Guilon and Williams) and 3 others that played a prominent role. That's a lot to lose and really hurts your depth. GB will still be the favorite to win the division but let's not lable it a cakewalk.

I am fine if Williams moves on, unless he would take substantially less money than his last contract. I think it more important to retain House, but losing them both in the same year would be a step in the wrong direction. It is time to thank Kuhn for his service. I am hopeful that they will retain at least one of Raji and Guillon and frankly I do not see too much competition for their services. I think it is important to keep the o-line intact, starters and backups. Sign Bulaga to a deal that allows another decision on him in 2 years. Look to a future that keeps Barclay and Tretter available that year when they have to re-evaluate Bulaga.

House to Jax for $6.25 million per year
I just now saw that. I would have hoped the Packers could have wrapped him up while most eyes were on Tramon Williams. tough to compete with Jacksonville's cap, no state income tax, and his former coach being on the staff there. Good luck to him.

tramon may stay...hopefully after losing house

hard to compete with what jax could offer all around...and to this point he had not been the model of health or shown his true potential consistently...

would have been nice to keep him as he develps more and being a it younger than tramon

Both Cobb and Bulaga pushed the envelope as far, apparently, as Ted Thompson was comfortable, and frankly, as much as I would have been comfortable with as well. I am glad they are back. I am concerned with the cost, but not alarmed. I see on House they just could not push their salary structure any more. I agree with that, though I hate losing the still young and rising player.

I hope that next year, when Peppers is gone and off of the cap, that they get Bahktiari done early, before necessary. The sheer number of free agents they had this year is staggering, and could have crippled them. I do not want to see a year where 3/5ths of the o-line comes due at the same time. the potential disruption would put the Packers in a very weak negotiating posture. maybe I worry too much about the future and should just let it work itself out. Who knows, by then Sitton may be out of the game, or Lindsey may have regressed. I just like to avoid too many coming due at any one time.

The thing is, you need to have both the player and the team agree to get it done early. Cobb didn't want to do a deal last year and rightly so. He gambled on himself and won.

I've no idea if Cobb and Bulaga left money on the table to stay in Green Bay, but it is really an amazing time to be a Packer fan even to have that be something people can speculate on in a non-sarcastic way. My entire youth, Green Bay was the place no one wanted to go. Hank Stram would famously threaten malcontent players with the horror of trading them to Green Bay. We all thought free agency would be the nail in the coffin for this franchise. What Ron Wolf started, Thompson had continued, built upon and improved.

The key is that as long as they continue to draft well, they will have options. House can contribute to that by morphing into a compensatory pick (depending what else happens, of course). Glad to see these deals getting done. These are key players, not luxury signings.

Love having Bulaga back. When was the last time they had a good Oline and kept them all together.

What else this does is simplifies the rest of FA and the draft.

The offense is pretty much set. Will likely see another QB either late or a cut from somewhere as the #3.

But now the OL is set for the starters...QB...RB...WRs.

Maybe a TE, but I don't think that is a huge priority as some do.

But ILB, DL, and Corner are all things they can afford to use a ton of picks and hope a couple pan out.

Yes and that's good ole Ron Wolf / Ted Thompson strategy, which is the correct way to attack it. Throw a lot of crap at the wall and see what sticks. It's really the best way to go. You just cannot know with an acceptable degree of certainty what a player will do until he actually puts your uniform on.

Look at New England, they have traded back for years and finally that is starting to pan out. They are going to be great for the next few years.

Ol Ted needs to learn from Bill. Draft an intreging qb and trade him in year 2-3 for picks. Flynn will never have trade value. No money in backup qb spot and future compensation.

I think this is right. Peppers will be gone after 2015, Sitton probably is gone as he will turn 30 next June. Bahktiari, Linsley, and Tretter will be around. Have to figure Tretter and / or Barclay takes over for someone.

Ted just hit the snooze button again while people spend on guys.

Someone may wake him if Tramon's agent calls. Though, id suspect he just gave Ball a number and if Tramons agent hits that number then its done.

Wouldn't be surprised if they knocked on Red Bryant's door. I'm guessing they add a few veterans on defense over the next month or so. Getting 2 of the 3 of Bryant/Raji/Guion would solidify the Dline. I'm sure they are planning to draft multiple inside linebackers, but getting a veteran there for stability would help too. Gotta think Tramon is getting close to signing with the Pack. Seems like he's meeting a fairly cool market.

When you draft well, it's not really necessary to do much in fa.
