Brandon Marshall reportedly created a "raucous locker room" with a halftime rant during Saturday's loss to the Patriots.
Team sources told ESPN New York the halftime rant was "fiery" and "irked some teammates." Jets SS Calvin Pryor suggested Marshall was trying to fight teammates. "When we're getting blown out at halftime, there's no reason to be fighting amongst each other," said Pryor. "Sometimes, how you feel can be saved for another time." Jets DE Sheldon Richardson called Marshall's halftime behavior "embarrassing." Marshall has routinely worn out his welcome with previous teams and could be doing the same in New York. Turning 33 in March, Marshall is owed a $7.5 million base salary in 2017.

Agreed. If they are going to rebuild - and they really must - you need to start with a new staff to implement their system, especially if they draft a rookie QB at pick 6. Looks like they'll mess this one up as well.

Stop it. Pretty sure the Jets would be picking sixth if they won, tied or lost yesterday. Also, unless they trade down, the Titans will not draft Watson at 5.

I disagree that Bowles should be back but agree with the rest....if there is a franchise QB around at #6 then grab him.....if they sign an older stop gap QB like Romo I swear I will lose my mind.....Glennon would be best FA but hearing a lot of teams are high on him pushing up his price...if he wants Brock O money they should pass.  

I'm fine with an awful 2017 if they finally start rebuilding the right way - cut all the older dead weight and go young in FA as well as try to get more draft picks.  Finally do this right and be ready for when Brady is done in 3-4 yrs.  

There have been so many mind boggling bad decisions and flags from this season that I have zero faith in this regime....hope Im wrong but I see another disaster in 2017 where they go 6-10 with the house cleaned....so essentially a lost year as a new coach would be builing...MAc and Bowles are on the hot seat and has to win now which is exactly what they dont need!

This is the biggest problem with teams (such as the Jets) that show no patience with GMs and HCs - the ones in place are always trying to hold onto their jobs and make decisions based on winning meaningless games (like starting Ryan Fitzpatrick because he gives you the best chance to win) or place band-aids over holes in the roster instead of building a team the right way. They do this instead of making the better decisions for long term gains. It's not an easy problem to solve, but there needs to be a good management team in place that lets it happen.

I changed my mind after seeing the firings today and seeing how this will actually play out. Bowles  and Maccagnan will make band aid moves in offseason. Good chance Romo or Cutler will come in. No to Glennon because he is young and unproven. 

If Woodrow was smart he would force Bowles  to use Petty or Hackenberg next season and not let a band aid move occur at that position. But he won't do it. He will keep wearing his baseball cap with his suit and Reeboks.

Bowles  should have been canned. 

There was a fistfight in his first camp and there were heated arguments during games this year. Bowles  has no control of the team.

A friend of mine (not a Jets fan but a guy who watches every NFL and CFL game, tons of college and high school) wrote yesterday in an email that Bowles  is the most infuriating coach he ever came across. Called him "a willing loser." He didn't need to cite examples. We know what they are.

I feel like these past 17 seasons are a big joke. Can we turn back the clock to December 1999 and make Parcells and Belichick make different decisions? The Jets and Patriots were practically mirror images of one another through that time. Now? One still remains crappy. The other is a flagship franchise.

The problem is that he'll be gone once Bowles is fired after next season - so it's fairly meaningless to bring him in, unless somehow the Jets land a rookie QB that comes in, starts and looks good. Yeah if they can win (even at a level of mediocrity) with a young QB, I'm all for it. I agree this team still has talent and the ability to jettison a few bad contracts so they can rebuild without a total blow up. Powell, Decker, Enunwa, Jalin Marshall and Robbie Anderson give the team a decent skill position core - I'd show Brandon Marshall the door (I appreciate what he's done, but it's time to let the youngsters grow). 

I'm just not sure who this young QB is. I'm not sure Petty is more than a backup level QB - not that I'm writing him off based on a handful of games, but he was a fourth round pick and lacks instincts. I do think he has a nice skillset and could potentially grow into at least an average to a slightly above average starter with time, but its far from a given. The reports on Hackenberg have been real bad. Not writing him off either, and hoping he can develop, but there's plenty of draft experts that panned the pick at the time. I'm sure they will get panned using another second day pick on a QB, but for me I think you have to keep trying until you find one. I'm not a DeShaun Watson fan but Kizer  at 6 would be ok for me if they see him as a franchise guy (I think he can be). 

I'd still like to see Glennon brought in but not if he sees an Osweiler type offer. Maybe AJ McCarron - but I'd hate to give up any picks and frankly I'm not very high on him.

However, knowing this team I still see Romo or Cutler under center next season. Like you, I sure hope not. Romo I could at least live with, since he's a likeable guy, so long as they gave Petty and Hack enough reps to continue to develop.

Last word on Bowles which makes me go crazy - just like Rex he ignores the offense...is this ground hogs day?  The team didnt learn from this the past so many yrs?  TB completely lost the locker room which is usually the death knell to a coach but he survives.....also defends Hack by saying the kid just has to play yet he refuses to consider playing the kid in meaningless games down the stretch....the guy comes off as clueless.

After much thinking I would really look at Glennon...he ha the height...has some experience....as long as he doesnt get insane $ I'd be willing to sign him and throw him in the mix with Petty/Hack. He's young and if he hits then they are set at QB for years...if he strikes out they have Petty/Hack for cheap to hopefully develop another year.  

IF they can shore up those 2 spots in FA I wont go crazy if they draft defense again....there are some really good S,CBs and pass rushers which could help big time...secondary and pass rush should be the focus but if a ridiculous playmaker falls to them at #6 whether it be a RB or WR I'd draft them as this team is dying for a must plan for talent...

Huge offseason - if done right it could be just what the team needs....if they try to win for 2017 I fear it will be a disaster.

That actually makes it even worse for the Jets. Having a team without a need at QB in front of a team with a clear need at QB makes moving down painfully easy.

Yea, I worry about that too, but if you fire them, you poison the franchise even more than it's already poisoned - no coach/GM wants to come into a situation where they are gone after year two. The last GM was an anomaly, but you have to give the appearance of some kind of stability.

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports the Jets have requested permission to interview Eagles QBs coach John DeFilippo for their offensive coordinator vacancy.

DeFilippo spent one year coordinating the Browns' offense in 2015, a year which saw Josh McCown put up a 93.3 quarterback rating while throwing 12 touchdowns to just four interceptions in eight starts. DeFilippo also earned praise for his handling of Derek Carr his rookie season. This would be a good hire for the Jets, but the Eagles are not required to grant permission.

Powell looked awesome this year - I know hes a little older as he will turn 29 next October - but he has a lot of tread left since he was used sparingly for so long....I give him the job next year with Forte sprinkled in...almost a reverse situation to this year...then draft a RB in mid rounds or even next yr....as I said - unless a big time playmaker is available I think RB/WR is ok for a yr or 2....

I'm almost more pissed off over Devin Smith than Hack...I hated the pick from day one...the kid is undersized and had no business being a 2d rd pick...I expect him to go the way of Amaro and be cut after this year.

That's the Eagles' right, but it's still poor form. Despite the ability to block such job hopping, teams usually grant position coaches the ability to seek coordinating work. DeFilippo did an excellent job with the 2015 Browns. He'll be a coordinator again sooner or later

Like with the last guy - I pride myself for patience with QB development But, OUCH - You would really like to hear someone legitimately say something real positive.

When Russell Wilson came to camp, ppl were saying positive things pretty early in camps....

I really wanna be the Hack-fan but, as much as I'm all for sitting Qb's like I was for Geno - Most of that to me is for a part of the season to at least acclimate to how a Pro team operates: media, Game plans, schedule, Opposing Defenses Etc.... With Hack sitting a whole year now, he really has to flash from Day 1 of camps....

Figures, the Draft legitimately looks QB weak at the top - so, most likely you're looking at another QB that needs to be Red-shirted.

Trubisky doesn't pass the Parcels rule of games played - I killed the Sanchez pick for this - of course they also traded up For Sanchez which doubled down...

I can't be in for him at Pick 6.... 

Still say the way to go is Die on the Vine with Hack / Petty - Slash the rest of the roster,  set up for a top pick in 18' and pray for a top QB....

Between the comments and refusing to let him even take meaningful reps in practice in a lost season its safe to say Hack is not looking good.....I can see Mac downplaying it to sneak up on teams and grab a QB in the draft....at this point they could easily draft  at #6 or trade up to get a franchise QB....let Petty start the first few games...then start the rookie the last half...if Hack progresses it's a bonus like RGIII and Cousins....there are worse problems if you have 2 QBs develop.  I'd rather use the pick elsewhere but until this team has a franchise QB they are nowhere....if one grades out in the draft that they can get I wont be upset if they roll the dice once again....the worst thing they can do is sit on their hands because a 2d rd pick that showed nothing might develop.

I think you guys are forgetting a key issue - who the #### is going to develop any of these high pick QBs we are hypothetically drafting?

Seriously, when have we have any form of an offensive mind, to actually coach and develop a QB properly?  Daboll?  Schottenheimer??  Any of Rex's buffoons?  NO!  Of course not.  How are we going to get good young offensive coaches/minds onto our staff to develop offensive philosophy and develop future QB X and provide CONSISTENCY AND CONTINUITY when we keep hiring buffoon first time d coordinators who don't know a lick about the offensive side of the ball, or how to get the right coaches in place that do.  Gailey maybe could have been it but even he just GTFO.

Our coaching staff is in a cleary dysfunctional state right now. We have no offensive coordinator, and are likely the least attractive of options for hot young QB coach Y because we are devoid of any talent to coach and have an HC that's essentially serving in a lame duck year. 

To me, you've got to be prepared to dump Bowles, bring in a Norv Turner type that you know is truly limited as an HC, but can at least develop our hypothetical 2018 top pick QB for a few years as a stop gap coaching system, and be prepared for the following regime to come in and take it over the top.  That's the long term plan that the Jets need to face if they ever want to have any semblance of competitive consistency.  These peaks and valleys of being randomly half decent for 2-3 seasons, maybe squeaking out a playoff appearance here and a win there, and then going back to #### rinse wash repeat are not getting the job done.  Terrible, terrible organization from ownership down.

I'm a Panther fan so QB doesn't matter to me, but I like Trubisky. I watched his bowl game against Stanford and I could see where you could come away with two different views. One is that he made some bad mistakes, assuming the RB was open on the wheel route and throwing without seeing the safety going over and taking a bad sack, and think he's not ready. My view on the other hand was that you kind of expect him to make mistakes since he isn't a 3 year starter, but watching him make some amazing throws and plays makes me think he's got some serious potential. He shook off Solomon Thomas (who was possessed all game) and throwing across the field for a TD strike and getting them downfield in a minute to almost tie the game despite two awful TD drops on great passes. Unfortunately, his C and RG decided to not block the one guy they should have double teamed on the 2 point conversion. I think he was hit about a half second after he got the snap.

Anyway, if it sounds like Hackenberg is a bust, which isn't surprising to me, I would take Trubisky in a heart beat. He might need a season of practice behind Petty, but he looked like he had damn good upside. I don't know Kizer well enough to know if he's any better, but I was really impressed by Trubisky even with the mistakes, including one where the ref actually punched out a fumble. I've seen a ref get in the way, but never actually cause a turnover.

I just skimmed through it and I'm sure it was thorough, but all highlights from the VTech game? Go look at his game log. He had 2 games with a passer rating under 140, his first start against Georgia and VTech.

Just an FYI about that game:

I'm not a Trubisky apologist or anything, but I thought that game and it rained a ton, so I just decided to go look it up. There were a bunch of games in the southeast (including Georgia/South Carolina in Columbia, SC) and I recall towns in NC being devastated by flooding. If you are going to take that game as your example, that IMHO a pretty poor way to evaluated a QB.

Yes, please read through that thread though. I am not a Caldwell fan, I shared that, but the thing about Lions fans... they dont take losing as well as us Jet fans.
