The Pelle ball was the worst penalty I've ever seen in a game of this magnitudeUgliest penalty shootout ever.

Only thing worse than these 120 min is any NFL gamesomehow managed to be worse than the previous 120 minutes
didn't think it possible
understandable when you're a Browns fanOnly thing worse than these 120 min is any NFL game
First is to decide which end, the second is to determine who gets to choose which team shoots first. Why two coin flips?
Came damn close. What a tense game and penalties that was.
Shame Neuer didn't get to take a penalty
at Pelle's PKThat's the stupidest thing since the last @mr. furley post I read.First is to decide which end, the second is to determine who gets to choose which team shoots first.
Yeah - I meant nothing else close as the worst PKs ever - terrible kicks.Well it's entertaining!!
Wrong. This year, they didn't have the talent...and sharp defensive tactics are just as good as flamboyant, individualistic attacking flair, if you appreciate the total game. They have the talent to play more positive football, yet they genuinely prefer cynical play.
Totally "shammered"....just imagine if you didn't pour that drink down the drain...PSS, who else is hammered?
Germany today= EXCITING!!Glad Italy is gone. Boring schmucks. France-Germany should be a load.
Exhaustion. It's a tournament format with lots of games in quick succession. There has to be a set end time. What's the rationale for not having a "golden goal" format in extra time? It seems like a walk-off goal would be a hugely dramatic finish. I liked sudden death in the NFL, but there I at least understood the argument that it was too easy to win a coin flip and kick a FG; here you really have to work for a goal and it seems like you deserve defeat if you give one up in an extra period.
The last 15 minutes in most of the OT games I've watched recently have been pretty bad, which is why I'm asking.
Sorry, I get that part. I mean do the two 15 minute periods in a sudden death format, and then go to PKs if it's still tied after 120.Exhaustion. It's a tournament format with lots of games in quick succession. There has to be a set end time.
Generally they are. Italy always sucks teams into that crap.Germany today= EXCITING!!
Ah. Maybe. I think it's fine as is though. It's not often you see multiple OT goals anyway.Sorry, I get that part. I mean do the two 15 minute periods in a sudden death format, and then go to PKs if it's still tied after 120.
I agree that the current format is better than an indefinite death-march.
Eloquently put.Generally they are. Italy always sucks teams into that crap.
FIFA tried that for a few tournaments about 10-20 years ago. Teams played even more defensively than usual in extra time, terrified of giving up a golden goal.Sorry, I get that part. I mean do the two 15 minute periods in a sudden death format, and then go to PKs if it's still tied after 120.

Italy wasn't boring against Spain a earlier this week.Glad Italy is gone. Boring schmucks. France-Germany should be a load.

Thanks. I was wondering if that's what happened. In all of these games, the announcers take great care to warn the viewer that there's no golden goal, but they never explain why.FIFA tried that for a few tournaments about 10-20 years ago.
