We have hockey season tix and never see it there or the college football games we go to. Must be a baseball thing. 

 
The fact that Springer, Alvarez and Brantley have been pretty silent with a bat in their hands worries me.  Chirinos and Reddick might as well just take automatic outs, too.  

Not the right time of the year to start slumping.  For a team that is supposed to be a Murder's Row, they have 3 HR's and 2 of them are by Altuve. #NotGood

Not sure they've made a decision on #4 yet.  Miley has kind of been a steaming pile of crap the last month, so not sure they want to hand him the ball in October.  At least to start a game.

That's fine with me if Houston slumps their way out of the playoffs.  #Dodgersfan :bag:

I haven't seen anything official.  I mean, it makes sense.  You want Verlander and Cole pitching games 4 and 5, if necessary.  But I would be shocked if Verlander isn't the starter for tomorrow's game.

And went 5-4 vs the Astros this season. As a Yankee fan nothing would make me happier than a Rays game 4 win and forcing a game 5. Hopefully the Yanks can wrap up their series tonight and have a leg up on resting the arms for what will surely be a tough 7 game series against either the Astros or the scrappy Rays. Both teams are very good.

Great post season so far overall though. Greatest time of the year is October baseball.

Rays aren’t as good as Houston but weird things can happen in a short series. Facing Verlander/Cole feels like needing runner runner in poker but maybe the short rest will affect them.

Even though it was only one inning on Friday, when he struck out the side, you could tell that was not a guy anyone would want to face right now.

Nats are actually in the driver's seat now, nothing to lose.

 
Interesting stat:  In 2017, when the Astros won the WS, they won the first two games of the ALDS at home then lost Game 3 to the Red Sox.  The score of that Game 3 was 10-3.

 
I still find it odd the Astros are going Verlander/Cole on short rest. Miley is perfectly competent. Seems desperate.

You play to advance.  What's the point of saving Cole if you don't win the series?

I realized after I wrote that Cole would be fine for game 3 of the LCS. Still seems odd to throw them both on short rest. Verlander is another story but doesn’t it often affect pitchers?

Cole would be on regular rest for game 5 since that’s not until Thursday. I think that’s what made the decision easy for them. Only Verlander on short rest.
