2021 Las Vegas Raiders - PLAYOFFS!!!! (4 Viewers)

Jesus.

This team is ####ed. Really sad. I hope like hell, mark davis doesn’t have to pay this dork anymore money.

Have y’all seen the NYT stuff about Gruden calling goodell a bunch of names, and saying that the NFL forced the rams to sign the “######” Michael Sam?

i hate to be right, but DAMN IT!  I KNEW this guy was a clown.

In gus Bradley we trust

Not defending him, but what prompted them to review the old emails?

Raiders coach Jon Gruden informed the team of his resignation Monday night.

Three days ago, the Wall Street Journal reported Gruden sent an email that used a racist trope to describe NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith back in 2011. In a separate investigation into the Washington franchise, more than 6,000 emails were reviewed, and they revealed a plethora of homophobic, misogynistic, and downright offensive language from Gruden. There was no clearing this latest hurdle after Gruden took the last few days trying to save face, saying there "isn't a racist bone in my body." That proved to be a flat-out lie. Not only is Gruden racist, he slammed gays, women in the NFL, and commissioner Roger Goodell across many years when he was working for ESPN and sending emails to ex-Washington team president and GM Bruce Allen. Gruden will never coach again after completing less than 3.5 years of his 10-year, $100 million contract.

I assume this year is toast but consider it a reset with potentially a far better coach. Getting stuck with that guy for another 5 years would be terrible for the Raiders.

I feel like this FBG thread might be pretty active on the board for the next few days ;)

nevermind. A separate thread was started. Either way, never a dull effin moment in Raiders land. I hate this team. Ugh.

We are better off without him. Bad in game coaching decisions, bad personnel decisions, high contract, poor character. I was already concerned about the lack of diversity in our coaching staff, which the Raiders have traditionally had. Hire Bienemy (sp) now and stick it to the Chiefs.

I’m unsure. It seems that they were “part” of the investigation into the WFT sexual misconduct case.

However, Gruden is an absolute idiot for putting these things in any email. The Nasssib issues alone, would probably have done in him.

And here’s a note for all you Gruden ball washers, people don’t suddenly change and become non racist and non homophobic.

This is a great day for Raider fans and a chance for this team to be good again in a couple of years.  Let’s not forget that the Gruden disaster started by genius Gruden getting rid of Mack and Cooper and wasting too many early draft picks.  if Mayock had anything to do with those wasted picks, show him the door too.  It’s time for this team to be led by competent picks.

2022 is looking up.

So does Gus Bradley become HC? He's seemingly the most likely candidate as he has prior experience, and got a team to the AFC championship.

Fantasy wise, I'm a little worried about Waller. He's gruden's ace, and gets plays designed for him.He might be more of a mid tier TE1, than an elite guy. I could see this being a positive for ruggs. Carr/Jacobs probably stay the same.

Waller is the most talented player on offense.  He may not duplicate last years numbers but he should still be a top 3 TE.   Who else is Carr targeting?

fn raiders, every year we have some bull#### drama. maybe the Raiders needed to move on from Gruden but not going into the 6th game of the season. it might be time to quit being a fan of this franchise after 39 years ( I don’t remember what i liked when i was 6 years old)

I would think Bradley or Marinelli as they have the HC experience but I don't think Marinelli wants anything more than to be a position coach at this stage. The question would be who steps up to be DC.

The offensive system will not change. Olson will continue it. I don't think there will be any difference to Waller.

I hear ya 41 years... I've about had enough of this ###### organization and its drama.

Unfortunately, most of the blame falls on Mark Davis, and he's still there.

Ruggs, renfrow, and Edwards are all much more involved than a year ago. I could see ruggs in particular getting more work.

Preach brother, preach!

Repeat after me "I will never, ever put something into the internet be it email, text, post, anything that I wouldn't want to see on the front page of the New York Times"

Rule #1 of the internet.
and that’s why i try to not go into the political forum after drinking

Seems like Renfrow is getting about the same amount of targets.  Agholor is gone and Ruggs is trying to fill that role.  His 3 catches a week are not concerning and he is getting targeted more than Edwards.

I would like to see Ruggs consistently get 7-8 targets/game. Good things happen when you throw to this kid.

He impacts defensive game plans every time he steps on the field.

I think, as others have already mentioned, this helps the raiders long term. As a charger fan I know I was happy to see them give gruden that 10 year deal.

Been a fan for about the same time period and this doesn't faze me. Not a gruden fan, I'm a Raider fan. Next man up.

As a Raider fan I was disappointed they were not in position to hire Staley last year.

There are still several good candidates out there. Sounds like the raiders are avoiding the pitfall of moving Bradley up at least.

this crap makes sad and happy.  it sucks that this is the way that gruden leaves.  the timing and situation is awful. it will leave a stain on the organization.   but, i've been saying he had to go for years.

so from that standpoint, i'm stoked.  i hope mayock gets to stay.  i've been preaching that gruden was screwing up these drafts.  i guess, now we'll see.  i feel bad for the players and the organization.  they don't deserve all this crap.

44 years for me, since beating the Vikings in 77. Would love to give them up and just root for my fantasy football players but they keep sucking me back in.
I too hope Mayock sticks around and has a chance to prove himself without the egotist in charge.

The good:

Everyone's auditioning for their jobs next year - everyone.  Should be plenty of motivation.

The ST coach is taking over - that sounds like a good thing if only because it's not a retread failed HC.  I'm a fan of the HC coaching the game and the coaches, not being an OC or DC or having big individual duties during a game.

There's still time to salvage 2021.  Lots of people would love to rise from Gruden's ashes and accomplish something - careers get made that way.

The bad:

We're clowns for another season.

The better:

We were already clowns, but this gives us the chance to wipe that clean.  It was always going to take something like this to get out from under Gruden with that harbinger of a contract clownboy gave him.

I've always like Mayock's talent evaluation and now we'll see if Gruden was an anchor in the draft room or not.  This team has a core of talent so if we can shore up a few positions of depth we can compete pretty quickly.  This has to be one of the "better" jobs out there - Carr at QB, an owner you know doesn't mettle, and a roster that's not Jacksonville level depleted.  Heck we're possible playoff candidates if we can figure out the OL.

I have been somewhat quiet about this event out of respect for so many great Raiders fans we have collected here over the years. I'm sorry you had to experience this level of embarrassment and I applaud all of you for mostly wanting to move forward quickly and it doesn't sound like a lot of huge Gruden supporters here, can't blame you with what unfolded there in Oakland and Las Vegas the last 3-4 seasons.

I'm not a fan of Mayock just being honest and usually these things are best with a new GM/HC or you are always playing this game of was it the GM or the HC, get rid of one of them and see if it works out, most of the time I would say no it doesn't.

Good luck the rest of the way in 2021, Miami and Las Vegas have to be the most entertaining and fun cities to travel to if your team happens to be visiting there, you definitely don't want the kind of attention Gruden was set to attract in the coming days and weeks, would have been brutal and resigning was likely the right thing for him to do here, maybe it was told to him what he had to do, small points but the larger issue is you all not quitting on '21, I agree with others that think this team has some real talent.

What else could possibly go wrong? And many of you are probably a little happy this marriage has ended although you would have preferred it happen the traditional way and not this way.

Many Cheers from South Florida

Bisacchia feels like a retread imo, he was part of Gruden's TB staff ('02-'08) but I don't fault him or the team for that.

Gruden filled his staff with yes men and potential fall guys.

I don't follow closely enough probably but where is the young, innovative coaching talent Gruden has developed that went on to become head coaches?

What does Gruden's coaching tree look like?

For you folks that follow closely, how do you expect the team to react?

What's the vibe for Basaccia? I don't know that much about him.

https://www.nfl.com/news/rich-bisaccia-expected-to-be-named-raiders-interim-head-coach

Rich Bisaccia has been named the interim coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, the team announced Monday night.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Bisaccia was expected to take on the interim role shortly before the Raiders made it official.

Bisaccia has been on the staff as the Raiders assistant head coach/special teams coordinator for the last four seasons.

Bisaccia, 61, is currently in his 20th season as an NFL special teams coach. His coaching NFL career began in 2002 with the Buccaneers under Gruden and his stay in Tampa Bay lasted until 2010. Bisaccia coached with the San Diego Chargers (2011-2012) and Dallas Cowboys (2013-2017) before landing with the Raiders in 2018.

A native of Yonkers, New York, Bisaccia spent 19 seasons as a college coach from 1983 to 2001. He was a four-year starter as a defensive back at Yankton College in South Dakota from 1979-1982.

Bisaccia takes over a 3-2 Raiders team that has lost its last two games. Las Vegas goes on the road in Week 6 to take on the Denver Broncos (3-2) this Sunday.
