All I hear is about how bad the Lakers are. I for one would like to counter that it's simply the fact that the Portland Trail Blazers are really good. No shame in losing to that team. They are undefeated.
The 2021-22 season doesn't matter much, but since mid-season last year to now, the Lakers are a combined 12-33. They didn't play the Trail Blazers every night. It's very possible Portland is a good team, and the Lakers aren't that great.
i think he was being at least a little bit tongue in cheek, as a blazers fan

Should we roll straight into Celtics talk then?

I've watched a total of like 15-20 minutes and read some articles and looked at a lot of stat sheets. Tatum seems to be good at basketball.

Update?
3-1.

Didn't watch any of the last game. Tatum is still good. So is Jaylen Brown. Brogdon has been a good addition off the bench. Starting all-D center hasn't played yet.

Will finish in top 2-3 spots in East barring injuries.

I think your sarcasm meter might need an alignment.....

Oh Lakers. Up 102-97 with 1:52 left and the ball. Next 3 shots: Patrick Beverley well-covered no chance 3, Lebron well guarded step back fadeaway three, and Westbrook open 16 footer. And like that it's Blazers up 104-102 with 12 seconds left.
Patrick Beverley has got this!! LOL. My son chuckles anytime either Beverley or Marcus Smart want to take over in crunch time. (I know, two separate teams, yadda yadda yadda)

This Suns/Warriors game is getting intense. Klay just got tossed after a series of technical fouls over a few minutes in the 3rd quarter.

It started with the world's biggest clown getting a T for yelling at the ref about a non-call, then some overreactions from the refs followed by a bunch of chippiness and trash talk.

First time Klay has been T'd up and out of a game

Fantastic win by my Pels! Dropped 40 (!) in the first quarter minus Zion and Ingram. Almost let them come back and steal it but held up at the end.

Side note: does Luka complain EVERY. SINGLE. PLAY.?! Jeezus. The kid is so talented but that is so #_)*# annoying, They literally played a clip and within one quarter at different points, he's on the ground grabbing: left ankle, right ankle, elbow, head, hand. And complaining to the ref literally every time he shoots the ball.

The start of this clip is so close to showing where I was sitting tonight - on the rail just a couple seats out of the shot. Fantastic game for the home team. For as bad as Simmons supposedly is he got a ton of minutes for the Nets tonight. Had one sequence where he missed a layup, got the rebound then missed a zero footer. A bit later he clanged his only two free throws of the night. But he still seems to be the guy they want running the offense.

The Bucks were never bothered by this team. Down 12 or so middle of the third quarter and they had no worries. Giannis had 9 at the half, finished with 43 hardly breaking a sweat.

* our seats are actually in this shot but we were still in the club at the start of the second half. Nash was ejected and went ballistic right in front of us midway through the 3rd qtr

that guy is irreparably broken

hadn't really thought about it, but Kyrie said post-game "give the guy a break, he hasn't played in 2 years" and this morning i heard someone say "he couldn't even work on his free throws at least while he wasn't playing for 2 years???"

he did nothing with his shot form... at all??? for 2 years??????

He takes zero responsibility. You can hear it in all of his interviews before the season started. And now he is even scared to finish at the rim, because he doesn't want to go to the line. Sad.

🤔 Which team blows it up first...

0-4 Lakers
1-4 Nets
1-4 Sixers

🤔
If I had to bet- I think the Lakers would be the most likely to make a dramatic move. The Nets can and will start to win regular season games at a decent clip. They have a high powered offense- but they have a hard time stopping opponents on the defensive end. However- even with that, they’ll start winning some games.

I am not too worried about the Sixers. Harden is in shape and motivated, Maxey is a budding star, Harris is boring but solid, and Embiid is working his way back into conditioning from his plantar fasciitis.

The Lakers are a mess. They are undisciplined and Davis can’t seem to stay healthy. The entire team is making poor decisions- but somehow Russ is getting the vast majority of the blame.

I’d personally mention that the Clippers are a team to watch here. Kawhi having stiffness in his surgically repaired knee even though he’s played so little is concerning. If he ends up missing a lot of time again- I wouldn’t be shocked if the Clippers gave up on the George/Leonard nucleus.

I think the Sixers are still a very good team and will be in the mix to win the East by the end of the season. The Nets should also at least flirt with the play-in round and be a wildcard team come playoffs.

The Lakers are a bad team with LeBron getting too old to carry the team every night and Davis will miss too much time throughout the year leaving a very bad roster to try and win games. I don't think they make the playoffs, but I doubt they "blow it up" during the season.

I think I'm putting my money on the Nets if they keep losing. Either Kyrie or Durant will start whining and demand a trade to force their hand.

Call me Captain Obvious, but both KD and Kyrie each already played the "I demand a trade card" and are still on the roster. Not sure how they could force the Nets hand when it didn't work the first time, other than "but this time we mean it!"

BREAKING NEWS PER SOURCE: 76ers will be moving on from Doc Rivers in the coming weeks. The move has been thought about and almost happened this offseason but with the teams early struggles there is more signs the team needs to move on. The team also wanted to use an in season move to get an extended look at one of the of the internal candidates as Interim Coach. Doc Rivers days in Philly are coming to an end soon.

Yeah, I'm thinking management figures out they're going nowhere fast with these guys and becomes more reasonable in their asking price. Problem with my theory is tanking makes little sense as the Rockets hold most of their picks til 2027.

To add to this I asked about other possible changes ala Brand firing etc. Source said Brand job is safe but not because he does a good job but because he's a company YES Man and Harris guy doesn't rock the boat. There's also concerns that Harris and Brand are too scared to bring in a coach who will hold players more accountable. Source spoke to a person who worked with the Clippers when Rivers was there who said based on what he's heard as an outsider the situation in Philly sounds like LA Clippers 2.O at the end of their run. Sounds like players are running amuck. Rivers was also upset from a personal and professional standpoint of Seth Curry being traded in the Simmons/Harden deal. It's his SIL but also he felt Sixers lost pop off the bench shooting wise. Tucker was brought in for veteran leadership and hold players more accountable.

No word on who the internal candidate is but source said their opinion was it was Sam Cassel. A few people there wanted Udoka the now disgraced Boston guy who was on Brett Brown's staff but for whatever reason Brand/Harris didn't like him. Unconfirmed that Udoka butted heads with Embiid and Simmons similar to Brown did and Harris wanted someone who'd treat them with kid gloves Ala Doc Rivers. The accountability issues seems to be a major flaw and some didn't like how Rivers hasn't had a talk or any form of discipline for lack of effort on Defensive end after a turnover from harden or Embiid this season especially in the TOR game.

Source also said the move to fire Doc depends if the 76ers can get it together with in the next couple of weeks which would buy Rivers time but some in the org are losing patience fast.

The Sixers could fire Doc and make Sam Cassell the HC. That's about it -- I don't see roster moves. They should play Thybulle more for defense -- he went from a starter to getting 3 minutes.

They threw all their chips in the James Harden basket and now have to live with that. Firing the coach won't do much when your Owner and GM don't have the balls to hire a coach who holds players accountable.
