It’s just a weird team to figure out. Tough to see how Gobert and KAT fit together. Oh, why is Ant so fat? What’s his deal?

Anyway, hoping to see the Wolves in person at least once this year, maybe even vs the Warriors the Sunday of turkey weekend.

Ant definitely had a Luka type offseason.

So far the three of them (and Russell to a lesser extent) are like 3 puzzle pieces that aren't fitting together. If they can make it all work it's going to be glorious. But, like, it has to work. I remain optimistic.

Yeah, the challenge for them is that pretty much most basketball people thought this was exactly how it would go. So hard to see how these guys could fit together…..

I hope they figure it out……but man, it sure seems like unless they dump KAT it won’t work. It’s still early though, and nobody really has a preseason anymore.
 
tough game for bango and company against the hawks tonight since the packers are so god awful i am enjoying watching the bucks more than ever take that to the bank brochachos

I think for most there's a difference between "hate" and "sports hate". Part of being a sports fan is having "heroes" and "villains". I think it's entreily possible to "hate" LeBron and still acknowledge his greatness. In fact most of the greats are "hated" by a large population of fans. What's the point in hating on some scrub bench player.

I "hate" Tom Brady from an NFL perspective, but he's clearly the greatest QB of all time and I surely take no joy in his divorce or wish any ill will towards him outside of the playing field. Even on the field, I do not want to see him injured, I just want to see him throw interceptions.

hey man this is way too level headed and reasonable for the ffa basketball thread you need to have like three inside sources and need to hate a guy because he did charitable work before we will even consider listening to you take that to the bank brohan

Edwards seems to really hate it though, which is the only thing I’d be concerned about as a Wolves fan. He’s young and immature though so hopefully he’ll get over it

Jabari Smith with another 4 point contribution in the battle of 1st round picks. I think Tari Eason might be the better player at the moment.

The surrounding cast of the Mavericks seems to have gotten worse for Luka these last couple of seasons, even though upgrading was a top priority.

JaVale McGee looks unplayable, and Christian Wood seems to have lost his mojo

If Luka ever asks out, what would be the price tag? 4 #1's, half the starting lineup for the other team?

Fun Warriors-Kings game. Klay gets away with mugging Huerter on a last second 3 to tie. Curry remains decent at basketball.
 
Just got home from Mavs-Nets, game was AWESOME.

KD heel turn is always fun, and the sheer joy of the crowd as Ben Simmons refuses to play offense or go near the basket is incredible. Add to that an awesome showing for Dorian Finney-Smith and from JOSH GREEN!!!!!! - it was fantastic.

I love that when we need a bucket with Luka out we can go to Wood, and if this is the beginning of Josh Green becoming a real player, then Dallas could have 4 great wings to throw out that are worth real minutes in the playoffs, which is exceptional.

Javale is getting played off the floor routinely. Gotta figure that out, but at least Dwight Powell continues to just be generally good every time he's out there.

Jabari Smith with another 4 point contribution in the battle of 1st round picks. I think Tari Eason might be the better player at the moment.

I didn’t know much about these draft prospects but I was out on Smith when he was described as a “Rashard Lewis with a little upside” - that’s a good player but not a top pick in the draft.
 
nice win by the hawks without tray last night and pretty lousy game by the bucks for anteater having rested against okc he was still short on a ton of shots just looked tired oh well 1 every 9 i can live with i guess take that to the bank brohans

I didn’t know much about these draft prospects but I was out on Smith when he was described as a “Rashard Lewis with a little upside” - that’s a good player but not a top pick in the draft.

I think the theory of him being Rashard Lewis with the potential to develop more off the bounce game while having the tools to be a very good defender at the 4 with the size and ability to capably slide up to the 5 in smaller lineups. To me, his scouting report sounded more like ceiling of Chris Bosh with a deeper jumper and less rebounding, which is not somebody who is THE franchise cornerstone but it does sound like an ideal second banana, when/if fully developed.

That theory may have been all wrong though.
 
A few Nuggets notes after watching most of the first 10 games:
  • They are shooting 42% from three and I would be a bit surprised if they didn't maintain something close to 40%. KCP and Brown are shooting a little over their heads but Jokic, Murray, and Green should all pick up a bit.
  • Jokic looks like his entire focus is getting his teammates comfortable which has been at the sacrifice of his stats and some short term team success. He is averaging 20.9/10.5/9.3 on .692 TS% and he hardly looks like he is trying. I do think his preseason wrist injury is affecting his shooting though as he is still wearing a wrap and seems especially hesitant to shoot.
  • Bruce Brown and KCP were great pickups. KCP doesn't do a lot of things that bring any attention his way, which is the exact opposite of how Barton played (offensively and defensively). Brown is a ****ing difference maker - always doing something good and is a much better athlete than I thought.
  • Jamal Murray is rounding into shape and looks like he'll be back to 100% early in the near year, at the latest. MPJ doesn't look like he hand any back problems last year and is picking up where he left off two seasons ago.
  • DeAndre Jordan has been totally worthy of his 13 MPG. I think he is playing his best basketball since leaving LA, which is damning with faint praise, BUT the team seems to like him and he's got some pop back.
  • I think come playoff time, the Nuggets will be title contenders.

KG is one of my favorite athletes of all-time. As mentioned in this thread some time ago, the couple years where I got to watch him in private practices (where there were no cameras, no pressure on him to do anything but go through the motions, etc.) and he was as intense and as good of a leader as he'd be in game 7 of the Finals impressed me forever. So, naturally, I'll defend him to the extent possible without being completely ridiculous.

I also don't recall any significant "hold me back bro" moments. :shrug:

Yeah, the problem is his jumper has looked like Westbrook early. I think he's shooting 25% from the field. Not a good sign for a Rashard Lewis type.
