Things that need to happen this NBA season.

Ben Simmons hit a buzzer beater 3 pointer to beat the 76ers.

Blazers going into Miami and blow the Heat out.

Lillard misses game winning 3 pointer against the Blazers in Portland.

Poole goes off for 40 in a win against the Warriors at Oracle. Poole gets the game winning and 1 over Draymond.

Paul hits the series ending shot against the Suns in the first round.

Tobias Harris goes off in first round playoff series and knocks the Heat out of the playoffs.

Jrue shuts down Lillard and hits a game winner against the Bucks.

Smart comes back to the Garden and goes off for a career high 44 points with 8 made threes and takes the game winning charge on Jaylen Brown.

Miles Bridges goes to prison.

Wemby might just make it in this league…
Just watched the highlights...good grief. All other "unicorns" pale in comparison. Mid range pull-ups, reading and passing out of double teams with a smooth 3-pt shot at 7'4"?

Just stupid.

Trying to figure out how to think of him. Watching his highlights on offense reminds me of Durant, but having a hard time coming up with a comp on defense... Mutombo? Rich man's Manute Bol? Much taller version of Scottie Pippen?

maybe taller Scottie pippen or more mobile Dwight Howard? Feels like the havoc he can create on defense is similar to Howard, though he obviously has a lot more fluidity

Young Ralph Sampson still is the best comp. Shame he played in the 80s when they forced him into a traditional center position. Wemby is more agile though. Dude is smooth and moves like a gazelle out there. Really impressive for someone 7'4".

Don't sleep on Jeremy Sochan, y'all. He's the second coming of Bobby Jones.
I did draft him in our salary cap deal last season so I kept an eye on him. He's a high motor guy, but very raw offensively.
Pop played Sochan at PG last night. Tbh, I could probably pass as an NBA PG running with Wemby on the floor.
Did Mamukelashvili get minutes?
I didn't watch the game, but he knocked down a couple of threes and earned an A- grade here: https://www.spurstalk.com/grades-spurs-heat-preseason-2/

i love preseason hot takes!
Brandin Podziemski is the next Steve Nash.
as he's a Wisconsinite, i'm 100% behind this take
he is from greenfield which is a southern suburbe of milwaukee but which is crazy it is really small like only 12 square miles but has produced bball tyler herro olympic gold medalist speed skater dan jansen super bowl champ tight end jon dekker major leaguer craig kusick nfl pro bowl punter matt turk sort of famous nfl strength coach bob wieland who ran marathons on his hands after he lost both legs above the knee in vietnam nascar great alan kulwicki and marjorie peters who was a pitcher in the all american girls professional baseball league from 43 to 44 and who is part of the women in baseball display at cooperstown in the baseball hall of fame what i am getting at is that for 12 square miles that place sure puts out a lot of athletic talent take that to the bank brohans

they are from pewaukee which is about 20 minutes outside of milwaukee straight west it is a pretty wealthy area and sort of the start of what some call southern wisconsins lake country one thing that is crazy about pewaukee is that despite it being a division 2 school or in other words a pretty big district they have all of their schools k through 12 all in one big complex which you just dont see up here very much take that to the bank bromigo

Shocker, Harden skips Sixers practice today without notifying team.

I'd love to see Morey ship him to a small market like Charlotte just to spite him.
ole poopbeard would not stand for that hell he might break out the fat suit again take that to the bank brohan
Our strip clubs are definitely not up to par. He’d step one foot into Leather & Lace and retire from the game.

Trayce Jackson-Davis is already better than James Wiseman was basically at any point in his Warriors tenure. He looks unathletic and moves sort of goofy, but he is a smart player who knows how to operate the way the team wants him to.

It seems the Drew Timme era in Milwaukee has come to an end.
not shocked thats a tough roster to crack as it is and im not sure how his game will translate to the nba seems a lot like frank the tank great college player but no nba skill set take that to the bank brohans
Yup. He's a classic college player who relies heavily on small size advantages and some craftiness, which simply do not work against NBA size and talent.

He reminds me of Tyler Hansbrough, although his energy level/hustle was better than Timme's.

Tough roster to crack if you’re not related to the team’s superstar.

or the lesser Lopez brother it seems ...

Preseason Nets thoughts -

Lots of buzz around Simmons, whose athleticism is as good as it's ever been in Brooklyn. He should actually contribute this year. The aggression is still a bit of an issue though - multiple instances of him passing out of easy layups/dunks.

Unsurprisingly, the offensive fit of Simmons and Claxton is just terrible. The offense has been stuck in mud whenever they're on the floor together. The team really wants to have them both in the starting lineup, but I don't see how that's sustainable.

Seeing marginal improvements in Cam Thomas's passing and defense, but he's largely the same player he was before. An all-star level scoring talent who's an absolute turnstile at the other end. I really think he has to be a part of the rotation, though - offensive creation is a serious deficiency for this team. They don't have the luxury of keeping him on the bench like they did during the KD/Kyrie era.

Just like last season, the team defense is amounting to less than the sum of its parts. Pretty frustrating because there's lots of individual defensive talent and versatility on the roster. I'm not sure if this is a coaching problem or a player problem (DFS just not good? Mikal decreasing his intensity because of offensive workload?), but it's striking. They will not win many games if they don't have a top 10 defense.

I think their depth is pretty good at most positions, with center being the real weak spot on the bench. They're invested in Day'Ron Sharpe because of his draft pedigree, but it's year 3 and he still doesn't look like an NBA player. Had a good 3 quarters against Miami's backups, though!

Last I checked, the team's over/under is 38.5 wins. If I had to pick a side, I'd take the under. There are multiple players who will probably get undeserved playing time (Simmons because of contract, Sharpe because of draft status) and I can't put my finger on a single thing that the team does exceptionally well. For them to beat that total, the team defense has to finally gel and their most talented scorer (Thomas) has to be playable.

Do we know the “Why?” about Stotts yet?
Bucks reddit speculation is that Stotts is a ***** and an egotistical maniac who can't work for anyone else

what i read from some one the news stories is that after a recent practice, Griffin called the coaches together for a quick huddle, but Stotts broke away to speak with Lillard and Giannis... then Griffin screamed at him to get back in the coaches huddle... at which point Stotts just left.

2 years away from coaching, coming back in as an assistant to a younger guy who is a first time HC that screams at you in front of the entire team & staff for briefly stepping away to talk to 2 players... i'd bet Stotts just said "**** this, i'd rather golf".

reportedly Griffin is the son of a military man and takes the same hard *** approach. not everyone respects and/or cares to be treated that way. especially by someone 20 years their junior who is the new guy.

been at my job 20 years, in this profession going on 30. if some college grad came in as my new manager, with his/her back up and 4 days in screamed at me in front of dozens of my co-workers i'd be looking elsewhere for employment, if only because i'm not wealthy and able to just walk out on the spot.

Thanks. For the Bucks’ sake, perhaps they are a veteran enough team to handle this. If the offense doesn’t click like expected though, Griffin is going to be an easy scapegoat.
