Hield a nice get at a good price (non1sts and dudes out of the rotation). And on an expiring deal, so still have flexibility in the offseason too.

Not sure I love the Lowrey buyout idea out there.

Is OKC trying to get off some money for next year? Not sure why they couldn't have just waited and got Hayward on the buyout market.

Daniel Gafford to DAL. Gaff doesn't need the ball to contribute and is an excellent paint protector. All hustle. DAL gonna have to figure out what to do when he has to guard a big man that can shoot. Other than that this is a very good pickup for DAL
oooo someone with a DRB% over 20%!!!

Jaden Ivey gets a start, Jaden Ivey goes off. I do not understand the Pistons at all.

I didn't get why they benched the Thompson twin for so long. I thought he was one of the few bright spots over there. I did notice after seeing his early season success, the Rockets have asked his brother to adopt similar responsibilities - 13/13/6/3 the other night.

Rebounding is the main gripe I had about Lively. Haven't looked at him recently, but he didn't seem to rebounding like he should have been early in the season.

Detroit apparently could have gotten two firsts for Bogdanovic last year and another first for Burks.

Instead they get two 2nds and Grimes
and the burks and bog contracts won't kill the knicks. grimes is a nice piece, but he seems like a guy that is easily replaceable.

i didn't get the ausar thing either. look, he can't yet shoot, especially from 3, but he was seemingly putting up large defensive stats, then to the bench for 11 minutes a night. seems ausar needs to be a 3, alongside a 4 that can spread the floor.

I haven't noticed it as an issue with Lively at all. In fact, he and Luka generally seem like the only two guys who can get a rebound. He's not like a guarantee it vacuum stealing bad bounces away from the other team, but he generally seems to do his job. Even when he's often doing it against 2+ rebounders from the opposing team because the 4 is the spot Dallas is undersized.

He's around 21% DRB so far. I'd like to see him get into that 25-30 range the great rebounding centers tend to have (I think Tyson Chandler was like 26-27% in Dallas), and am not worried that with NBA strength and conditioning and experience, he may be there as soon as next year.

It was just me looking at box scores, but he had some games with like 3 or less rebounds which seemed odd with his size and jumping ability.

However, there were also some games where he played less than 12 minutes in there, so that was probably a contributing factor as well.

He's one of the guys I drafted in the salary cap competition so I was paying attention to him until I got sick of looking at half my roster being injured and quit caring.

The answer to both of these is that Monty Williams is a stubborn and mostly terrible coach. I don't think he particularly paid attention to what was working and what was not working for the first half of the season as he kept giving Kilian Hayes and Isiah Livers starters minutes.

Mavs getting Gafford and PJ Washington, while not giving up any of the young kids is a successful day!!

Grant Williams, we hardly knew ya.

10:51 a.m. ET: The Oklahoma City Thunder are finalizing a trade to acquire Charlotte Hornets wing Gordon Hayward for guard Tre Mann and forward Davis Bertans, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

1:03 p.m. ET: The Charlotte Hornets are finalizing a trade to send forward P.J. Washington to the Dallas Mavericks for forward Grant Williams, guard Seth Curry and a lightly protected 2027 first-round pick, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Good moves from Charlotte today. Getting rid of Gordon is a positive. PJ is good but always knew a contender was going to get him eventually. Forwards that can shoot the 3 are valuable.

Hornets roster is pretty terrible, glad they are actually tearing it down. They are frequently playing guys that a G league quality.

Seth Curry coming home to have games called by his dad is pretty cool.

He is horrible. He shoots like10 percent from 3, but yeah he is the 2nd best player in this rookie class.

I'd put Brandon Miller and Jaquez over Ausar.

Second best Thompson twin in this rookie class, totally agree

For now, give it a week.

Detroit Pistons played at the Sacramento Kings last night. During the introduction of the Detroit players the Kings played video showing highlights of the 49ers beating the Lions last week. As part of this they altered Eminem’s music and played it as background.

Pistons went out and beat the Kings by 13 points for one of their few wins of the year and especially one on the road.

Stolen from another thread. Sad this is the highlight of our season. Kings gonna King.

I don’t think it’s a motivating factor, but still nice. Clearing out roster spots is probably more important. As it stands now they are gonna get Utah’s first this year, gonna be tough to find spots for all the picks.

Yep. They definitely have Houston's 2024 and a few other 1sts IIRC.

Story of the Mavs season. Everyone hurt everywhere all the time.

I'm interested in the light protection on the Dallas 2027 FRP to Charlotte but broadly see getting off Grant Williams money as probably worth it alone, and even better to get PJ Washington, who theoretically is a phenomenal fit.

Gafford too...I'm a broken record but I think so far every offseason and deadline of Nico he's done a damn good job, and without much to work with.

Yeah, he's on my dynasty team and I see him making some moves. West has some teams on the come for sure.

The nba trade deadline is the most pointless of all the leagues. People spend hundreds of hours writing and podcasting about it and then the biggest name traded is like, Grant Williams. Sucks.

I was thinking the same thing. I've been reading about this day for the past month and we're gushing over Kelly F'n Olynyck? :ponder:

You just mad orlando didn't do squat
I’m not mad at all, it’s just boring and overhyped for what we get. Most people knew the Magic wouldn’t do anything, GM is patient to a fault.

as a nyk fan, i love seeing the mavs improve marginally. maybe this year they don’t tank out of the play in and surrender the 1st….maybe late teens.

It was bad, particularly since the Niners are going to get hammered this weekend and the team decided to take the night off.

2 out of every 3 Kings transactions involve the Kings selling off cap space or draft picks for cash. You’d think ownership would be a little more focused on improvement now that they are relatively decent, but no, Vivek is still a garbage owner.

Ausar is a fascinating player. He’s so ridiculously good defensively, but it doesn’t even begin to make up for how bad he is on offense. The only comp I can think of is Andre Roberson, or maybe Ben Simmons minus the passing.

At first I was like “Just wait until he learns to shoot” but now I’m not sure that’s a possible thing. His airball reel is already spectacular.
