Tatum is leading a charmed life. 17 points through six quarters of the NBA finals, and his team is up 1 game to 0 and has the lead in game 2. LOL at the idea that he is a top 5 NBA player.
does anyone hate Tatum more than Boston fan?

The haters are only looking at box score stats. He is an all NBA caliber player and because he isn't scoring he obviously sucks.
He’s obviously a great player but the annoying thing about him is the first-team all-NBAs because nobody plays a full regular-season anymore. But that’s not his fault.
He has been a first team all NBA for three straight years. This past year was the first year of the 65 game minimum
Do you think this is the first season players missed games?

Availability is a skill.

Absolutely.

crazy seeing in plain view which guys cannot be on the floor in NBA playoff games

the possibilities go from regular season 8-9 guys, to like 2-3 at this point.

What a freaking block!
Helps if you can foul

Not even close
Shove in the back plus a hand on hand but ok
Hand on hand is OK. And that would have been a weak "shove in the back" call
But this is why this NBA is so irritating, because had the situation been reversed, you know Boston is getting that call at home down 5 with under a minute.

The Celtics probably still win regardless, but stuff like that is just such bad optics.

You don't know that.

It has to be said again that Kyrie Irving has been crappy so far. It almost feels like the Celtics are doing to the Mavs what the Pistons did to Jordan for a while: let Luka get his and then shut everyone else down. And it is working.

Feel like there were a few questionable calls in a row before that block that were called on Boston.

No call on Jones Jr travel https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CF...2' Cutting Layup Shot (9 PTS) (Doncic 11 AST)
The White block on Jones Jr that looked clean - JJ agreed on that https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CF...4&flag=1&title=White S.FOUL (P2.T2) (J.Goble)

Boston is the better, deeper team. It's not even close.
Agreed. Their "best" player has been awful shooting the ball and they are up 2 games to 0. And their defense has been lights out.
Tatum - 18/9/12

can't win with a guy like that. just not good enough.
6 for 22 shooting tonight sure is impressive. (yes, I realize there is more to basketball than scoring)
18/9/12
That's why I said "awful shooting the ball," not awful in general. If you think 6 for 22 shooting isn't awful, we'll have to agree to disagree.

Boston defense that was #2 in the NBA showing up.

Luka had good numbers, but wasn't super efficient and had 8 TO's. Kyrie has been held down as has PJ, DJJ and Gafford/Lively.

Dallas' offense is their problem as they didn't find solutions from game 1 to game 2..... and there may not be any.

Jayson Tatum has averaged 23.9 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 110 games in the playoffs in his career.

good players have off nights. he's a winning player.

you putting "best" in quotes is the issue. try to play it off as you might. it's clear what you are suggesting.

Man. Gave one away. Kyrie horrible through two games. Regular shooting luck and this is 1-1. Tough spot, really need to win the next 3 probably to have a chance. Defense showed up, ball movement was back. Kyrie 0-8 from 3 in two games. And not exactly tough looks.

It looks to me like Luka not seeing many double teams is getting his points and the rest of DAL players just aren't good enough to be productive against the best defensive team in the league.
We'll see how they play at home but it seems like DAL needs a Steph Curry to make this series interesting.

Anyone else surprised DAL didn't play the foul to stop the clock thing down 7 with time on the clock?
It's the finals, I would think you try anything there.

edit: because I missed the "L" in clock and it stared it out ****

stolen from reddit:

The time between the first half buzzer and the opening tick of the second half was 15:49. Of that time:

-1:24 (10.1%) was spent with the play-by-play crew.

-1:17 (8.1%) was spent with the halftime crew.

-1:36 (8.9%) was highlights/sounds of the game.

-11:32 (72.9%) was ads. (62 seconds longer than last year.)

In 2021, the halftime show was 75.2% ads.

In 2022, it was 64.2%.

In 2023, it was 65.9%.

This year’s to-the-second breakdown:

0:00 First half buzzer

0:44 Ads (including "Is brought to you by..." sections)

1:36 Highlight interlude with the halftime crew

2:23 Ads

4:58 Halftime crew analysis

5:52 Ads

9:01 Halftime crew analysis

9:24 Ads

15:09 Back to play-by-play crew

15:49 Second half clock starts

As a showtime laker fan, I despise the Celtics. That’s all I got…

Wait..in 87ish, my grandpa passed away. Entire family is from Boston. Fly back for the funeral. My uncle and I nearly came to blows over the rivalry after a few beverages. Good times.
