2024-25 NBA Thread: Celtics fan proudly looking at 2027 revenue projections (59 Viewers)

For the none Knicks and Pacer fans, here is a nice summary of the 90s meetings in the playoffs. Feels like this series is going to be a war and honestly love that we are playing the Pacers in the ECF as it just feels right.

Also, think Reggie Miller she be banned from announcing these games.

He'll be announcing all of them, I read somewhere

He's not that good at that though, so meh

He's wayyy better at crushing the Knicks' dreams

😜

Caruso plays unbelievable defense on the best player in the world while giving up 7 inches and 100 pounds.

Jayrod: "Ehhhhhhhh, I don't see it."
Was that today? I didn't get to watch today's game as my son was graduating from high school today.

Because in game 6, his defense on Jokic was not "unbelievable ".

Maybe it was today, but I have no opinion on the matter.
Not sure if this is a rhetorical question or not, but of course it was today.
I figured, but just wanted to point out that the quote attributed to me regarding game 7 was fabricated and that my takes on NBA players are factual and reasonable and not based on the prevalent mindless groupthink that exists out there.

You know for posterity's sake.
Just playing around GB.

At the same time you had some pretty strong opinions about our boy Caruso. I don't feel like digging them all up, but suffice to say you've gotta take somewhat of an L here when he contributed the way he did in their biggest game of the season, a game 7 possible elimination from the playoffs no less. Hopefully you've been able to watch it or at least some extended highlights since then, might change your opinion/perspective some.

:sigh:

I think my reputation as a Caruso "hater" is greatly overblown. I was obviously wrong about how good he is/was and have eaten some crow. I do still think he is overrated sometimes.

That said, my life is wayyyyy too busy to go back and watch 30+ pt blowouts, but I'll take your word for it. He certainly had a great 4th quarter in game 6 and has been OKC's 2nd best player at times during that series. I wouldn't be surprised if he was tremendous.

Curious, what are the top 10 white guys in the league in terms of “trade value”

1) Luka
2) Joker

Chet, Porzingis, Pritchard, Herro, Markkanen, Caruso, and Stephen Adams have all had some nice moments/accolades over the past 2 seasons.

Can we count Flagg yet? He's gotta be right behind Joker and Luka in terms of trade value. I think he's top ten already despite never playing a second of NBA basketball because he's probably the most pro ready prospect (maybe Wemby?) in years and he's on the rookie deal.

Crazy tidbit I just saw - this will be the first western conference finals without a team from California or Texas since 1996.

Joker is #1 for sure.

The Ringer had Jokic #2 overall in trade value, Doncic #4, Chet #20, Sabonis #27, Wagner #29, Markkanen #45, Sengun #46, Reaves #50, Hartenstein #55 (lol), Herro #56, Zubac #60, Porzingis #74, Kessler #79.

Does Herro have that much trade value though?
I would imagine his value has gone up exponentially after this past season
He’s due $31m and $33m the next two years. He’s important for Miami, but I don’t see teams lining up to give up much value to trade for him.
I guess I wasn’t thinking about salaries when asking the question. Just pure talent and value as a player.

Those teams make up 7/15 Western Conference teams. When considering that's nearly half, and you have arguably the biggest NBA market team in the Lakers (I'll let the conspiracy theorists nod away here), it's really not all that shocking that one of them has made the conference final in those 29 years or whatever it has been.

Hartenstein is half black. The more you know.

Ah. That's a bit different analysis then.

Well remove him the **** off that list then. A total of three American born white dudes on Ringer's list - Donald Sterling is cursing the state of the current NBA down in hell.

That has to be pre-season or a year old.

No way is Markkanen above Sengun and Hartenstein above Herro & Zubac. Plus Pritchard should be in there somewhere above 100.

Edey is half white/half Chinese but impressed me this year as well.
I still remember after Yao Ming's rookie year reading an article about how China had over 1,000 seven footers in their basketball system, who were going to flood the NBA in a few years

Updated January 30th. Just a couple days before the Doncic trade.

The whole list is trash after the top 7, which at the time were probably all pretty close to what I would have had (Wemby - Jokic - SGA - Doncic - Tatum - Giannis - Edwards in that order) then it goes off the rails with Paolo at 8 (in the same tier as the first 7).

It counts contract value too. Paolo currently on a rookie deal.

Didn't fact check, but I seen a post that said the Pacers are the only NBA team ever to not get the number one overall pick ever, and never have had a former number one overall pick even play for the team ever.

That is wild.

Interested to see who the Thunder start on Randle tonight. I’m assuming the starting lineup won’t change but maybe Caruso starts the second half or something. I think Randle is the key to the series - those are the type of players who have really given the Thunder trouble, they’ve got endless wing defenders but nothing much for legit power forwards. I think the Thunder should go small whenever possible this round.

Feel like I don’t hear too much about Tim Connelly as one of the top gms, but he’s built quite a resume. I know people respect him, but what he has done in two spots that weren’t obviously plum jobs is really impressive.

The trades for Gordon, Gobert and Randle were all very savvy moves that really helped the teams on the floor and were not slam dunks

Gobert is such a clumsy giraffe
It's so weird. He's such a defensive force he's completely shutting down the paint when he's in and they have free reign when he's out, and yet he can't hold the ball and do a spin move at the same time.
My poor son has listened to me rant about Gobert's "skillet hands" for years. He is easily the most frustrating player to watch in the league, IMO.
