How well does fox really play off the ball? I don’t think okc would make a deal like that for an offense-only guard who needs that much usage. I could see a lower level deal for a very light version of someone like Fox. They could use some creation off the bench.

upset with the ivey injury from a knick standpoint. knicks hold the piston pick in 2025 if it is outside top 13 and there is a good chance it transfers this year. another chip to grab a back up big.

can i ask you timberwolf fans something did you all feel like the teams window had closed you needed to shake it all up by trading kat or what i didnt feel that way at all i felt like you were young and would get better just let it be and now you have julius randall who is like a roadblock that is also a black hole where the ball goes in and just stays there and all flow is lost i am just in shock that they changed anything at all in the off season was this just a gm thinking he was smarter than everyone in the room or what and did you as fans agree at the time it went down or what take that to the bank brohans

My rudimentary understanding is that we would have been in cap hell and basically been able to sign nobody meaningful for a couple of years and without our picks we have little to no assets. So, trading KAT was the only way to get some flexibility moving forward.
As a fan, I hated seeing KAT go but as I read into it and learned why I got to understand. To me, the much more egregious move is still the Goebert trade in the first place. Goebert is about as good as could be expended but it was still spending $1.50 to get a $1.00 back and without that 50 cents we were going to come up short on future payments.

They signed KAT to the max and traded for Gobert. Then they changed the CBA and with new contracts for McDaniels and a max coming for Ant they were going to get screwed. Also hating the Gobert trade makes you an idiot. WCF last year. Without the change to the CBA they're probably a top 5 team this year.

To answer your question, nobody thought the team's window was closed or that they couldn't win a championship as constructed. There is a small subset of fans who were happy to see KAT go, simply because they're stupid. This group hated his dumb fouls and stupid plays and didn't think the team could ever win with him, however seeing last season should have convinced them that was not true. Again, they're stupid, so if you hear of a Wolves' fan who is happy KAT got traded don't pay any attention to anything they say.
Unfortunately, as I mentioned in my rude response to Woz, the CBA changed, and being at the level of salary the Wolves were going to get to became of incredibly punitive, both from an owner's pocketbook standpoint and a roster construction standpoint. With a talent like Anthony Edwards on the team at just 23 they couldn't stand pat and let his career languish here without being about to build around him. KAT basically had to be traded.
I hoped they would run it back one more year, but when Dante DiVincezo became available they figured that was the best they were going to do. There was even a credible argument the team would be better this year. Due to DDV not playing as well as last year and Randle's dubious at best fit with current personnel that hasn't been true.
The positive about this year is they are still a playoff team most likely and still have potential to make a decent playoff run - with or without Randle, who is an intriguing player at the deadline ($30M player option for next year). They can trade Randle for something, or hold onto him and have cap relief when he opts out (most likely). They can also resign both Naz Reid and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who are absolute key pieces if this team is going to stay a contender - something they couldn't have done without trading KAT. So we hope for a small step back this year leading to greater succes down the road.
The fact is, if the CBA doesn't change they never make the KAT trade, and if the CBA was in place two years ago they never trade for Gobert knowing KAT and Ant's maxes are going to kick it. The league basically conspired with the NBAPA to screw over the Wolves. Again.

WTF I didn't say I hated it. I praised Gobert. I just think it was an overpay even though Gobert has served the intended purpose. They aren't mutually exclusive concepts.

Also, the Gobert trade came about a week after Atlanta traded for Dejounte Murray, and Gobert cost one more first round pick than the younger, cheaper guy.

I still have my concerns with the team when they get into the playoffs as they shoot a lot of and are currently making a lot of 3 point shots. It just takes a couple of bad shooting games in a short series of games to be eliminated from the playoffs.
Thus far we are winning enough games early that the coach is resting his players well and hopefully they don’t hit a wall late in the season/playoffs.

The Cavs fell apart last year for a variety of reasons but...physically falling apart was a big one. Lost both Mobley and Garland within a week of each other in early December and the team was never 100% again. Sure, there were times all four of them were on the floor, but I can't recall a time each of them was clicking. 33 games in this season and there are 4 combined missed games between the core four.
Coaching is absolutely playing a role. This team's playing faster and as one rather than Donovan go do something (only said with some hyperbole). They're also managing minutes better, so there are less load management games. The role players are over achieving though. This team has the same net rating through 33 games as the '16 Warriors. They're good, real good, but they're not that good.
Is there a (relatively) big / cheap 3 & D player available via trade? That's the missing piece on this team.

i know of him which is not me saying we are buddies or anything but from aau girls basketball and not only is he underrated as a player he is a hell of a nice guy he referred to me when we met as mr my last name and he would sit around with the girls and play uno like he was about 12 years old and just gave them all the time in the world and would sit on the bench with them during tournaments and was super positive like i mean girls loved him i mean i saw no other nba guy do that in all my years honestly i cant say enough nice stuff about him just a hell of a good guy in my experience take that to the bank brochachos

First half observations:
1. When your best guy on the court is at best a 3rd best guy on a good team...it's gonna be a bad time. Even if you have like 3-4 guys who could be a 3rd best guy.
2. Evan Mobley is very good
3. Apparently Dean Wade is "radioactively white" with "a ridiculous farmers tan"
4. Garland is the engine of the Cavs, at least tonight. Passing is outstanding.

Phoenix couldn’t do it unless they give up one of the big three because they can’t aggregate.
It’s hard to get the matching salary from the others in any trade that feels worthwhile. Would Dallas give up Klay, PJ and Kleber? That would get them close. I guess that might be worth it on the floor but seems like Dallas generally likes their chemistry. Gsw would have to give up Wiggins (or Draymond I guess which seems unlikely)
I suppose Houston would be possible if they were to give up vanvleet or brooks, though they would have to give up two or three guys. The other problem is who really wants to give Jimmy several more years at 40ish million?
