2024-25 NBA Thread: Finals court designs NBA ordered off Temu finally came in (127 Viewers)

Tough loss but on the positive side, it should be clear to anyone who watches basketball that Jalen Green is not HIM and that it's time to move on. You don't know how many times I debated Rockets fans the past year who told me I was hater, etc because I thought he should be traded. I was like just wait til playoff time when defenses lock down, he can't drive all willy nilly to the basket and has to make actual plays. Pretty dunks are cool for youtube but they don't get you rings, consistency does.

It was a fun year though and Ime has really brought this team along nicely. Never thought in a million years that we'd already be a #2 seed in the West. Time to make adjustments this offseason, bring along Reed Sheppard and hopefully add a guy like Booker 🏆

Jabari Smith turning out to be a lemon is unhelpful, but they've got a war chest to go acquire someone big this offseason.

I wouldn't call him a lemon. He's a good spot up shooter and decent rebounder/defender but nothing like the two guys drafted before him. I think he has potential to be a Robert Horry type.

He looks out of his depth out there to me, especially as a #3 overall pick, but perhaps I'm being too harsh on him.

I thought he was great in G6 - hit some big 3s in a close game. It impressed me but I agree you definitely want more out of a #3 pick. He's show flashes this season. I like him as the first or second option off the bench.

🐐 is one of my very favorite players to watch in the league but happy Rockets lost as I want at least Durant gone from the Suns.

Rockets are loaded with assets to get about anything they want done. That they've got the Suns future in their hands, they'll be the first ones the Suns go to .

Rockets will still get a good return for Green even as bad as he played this series. 23 year olds with 2 20+ PPG under their belts don't grow in trees. I actually think Green will opt out when his player option comes due

rockets should trade dill bag brokes to a toilet so that he could hang out with some other turds take that to the bank bromigos

Brooks, Jalen and some swaps for Anteater?
JMO it'll take 🐐 (and id personally only move 🐐 for, at most, a handful of players in the league)

They'll have plenty of options with Jalen, etc...

EDIT: if Houston's upcoming PHX pick is #1, would change everything.....

Freaking Buddy Hield game. He had 33 pts on only 15 used possessions. That's over 2 pts/possession. That's insane efficiency with that much volume.

Meanwhile, no one on the Rockets besides Thompson broke 1.0 ppp. Van Vleet was decent, Sengun was just OK, but the rest of the team was a no-show. Likely a combo of nerves and being tired. 7 games is just a long series. Minny is set up nicely as the Warriors had to battle to win this one.

I was thinking about going into the NHL thread and posting about how much better the NBA playoffs were, but I was afraid everyone would drop their gloves, pull my shirt over my head, and beat the tar out of me. Plus those Canadian hockey players in Letterkenny and Shoresy have some tremendous trash talk, so I don’t think I’d be able to handle that emotionally. Go Wolves!

I've seen this clip several times. It is a travel, but only barely. If his left pivot foot doesn't move that inch or so, it is a clean move. There are dozens more egregious travels every game than that
Yeah, the pivot shifts slightly which is really hard to catch in real time and if you call that, you have to call it every time. There was no advantage gained so no big deal. If people want to cut hairs, it's a travel but it's the whole ants and elephants argument.

That's like making a 3-pointer good because a foot was "barely" on the line. Dude, it's a clear travel, and because there's much worse, doesn't make "barely" now legal.

I just love the fact you said there are so many more egregious travels every game than that. Crazy amount.

The not-traveling thing, where you can stop completely, after 1 or 1 1/2 steps (lofl @ "gathering"), hell 2 steps , and then just add one more step thereafter is comical.

The language the leagues (hi NFL) use to fix these rule modifications is amusing. Since we're doing Boston, I give you the tuck rule, resulting in a SB win.

Where did the "football move" come from anyway? That's a good one. Might have to do a top 10 of rule change language.
The step thru portion is, and always has been, legal at all levels.

It would be best for both sides if Lebron did a sign or opt in and trade. Lakers aren't doing anything with this roster. Get Lebron another chance at a title and get a pick and young player for the Lakers.
If he wants to go ring chasing, it is best for him to just opt out and not force the destination team to waste any assets.

Lebron's probably thinking what's the point now other than continuing to play on the same team with Bronny?
...unless the Lakers somehow miraculously (wink wink) wind up with Giannis. But they'd have to give up every semblance of depth they have to do that.
LeBron takes the minimum to play with Bronny again...WA LA roughly 30 million in cap space for the team (doesn't get them Giannis though).
If he opts out it only opens up about $15M in cap space

ESPN just posted that MIN is favored to win the series against GS, which is the first time in 28 series in the recent Warriors run that they WERE NOT favored to win a series. That’s insane.

I definitely do not agree with this. He’s not good and the league knows it.

I could see teams that are in tank mode willing to add a high flying young player with potential but he definitely wont be the main piece in a trade any longer. They held too long and he got exposed for what he is :poop:. He's a really poor processor on ball with a low basketball iq. That's not something you can really teach in the off season. It's either off balance 3s or stuntman like drives to the basket. His mid game is non existent as his ability to get others involved. Not really sure he does anything well besides cool dunks.

Listen man there are rocket fans on Twitter last summer arguing he was better than Paolo.

Houston fans are an annoying bunch which includes all franchises. They're casuals for the most part who don't really support the team until they start winning and when they do it's with unbridled and almost oblivious enthusiasm. They came out after Game 6 and pretty much thought it was a given they'd beat Steph and co. in a Game 7. Same with Jalen after he goes on a 10 game tear. I have gone back to some old debates on youtube with Jalen Green stans and commented for updates. Crickets

Was he the consensus number 2 pick in the 2021 draft? Because the next 2 picks were Mobley and Barnes. Both would look real good on this Houston team

Jalen was the consensus #2 in most mocks IIRC. He was tearing up the G-League and was a scoring guy with tremendous upside. Some even had him over Cade. With hindsight glasses, it definitely hurts but they were in "process" mode and needed an offensive piece to replace Harden.

Cade was the consensus number one, not like Wemby, but 80 percent. The next three were supposed to be some order of Green, Mobley and Suggs with Green slightly leading the way. Then the Raptors shocked everyone and took Barnes over Suggs.

thier baseball team the houtson cheaterstros should have its championships recinded and they will always have an asteristk take that to the bank brohans

2 must watch series in the west.
2 snoozefests in the east.

Yeah, IND/CLE is interesting on a bball perspective, but both teams kinda bore me. Not much for personalities, and I don't see a world beater megastar on either team.

Forgot to mention this story from last week, but last Friday night I put Little Woz to bed and he was noticeably sad and tearing up a bit. He learned that day that the Wolves beat the Lakers (game the night prior ended way past his bedtime) and were moving on and he got to play some golf so I was very confused as, in his little world, he had a great day. I ask him what's wrong and he goes, "I'm sad that the Timberwolves don't get to play the Lakers anymore. We always beat them."

The kid is so spoiled as a Wolves fan.

I don't know how to find the actual statistics, but I would guess close to two thirds of the people that live in Houston aren't from the Houston area and probably about the highest rate of non-native population in the country. Hard to have a good fan base when everybody is moving in and out of that godawful city.

A lot of the most diehard sports cities are places that have deeper fan roots (and generally probably less cool **** going on otherwise). Texas also has a lot of competing sports interests including high school and college and that isn't the case in much of the rest of the country, especially outside of the south and midwest.

I sort of wonder if he just doesn't put the practice time in yet. I don't remember a guy who has basically put up the same relative high stat line without really improving in a long time (and his basketball reference comps are a whose who of who are they). Maybe the closest comp is someone like Zach Lavine who was hurt his fourth season and had an equally frustrating first 4 years, before starting to shoot better in his 5th season. But someone will take a chance on that comp (what that gets you down the road, I don't know).
