2024-25 NBA Thread: defeated Minnesota fan ready to move on to next crushing disappointment (26 Viewers)

Was I being silly thinking the Pacers could make the NBA Finals?

Why because they lost a game in thre conference finals?

In hindsight, the Pacers' wins were kind of flukey albeit fun to watch. If Knicks could do what they did tonight, they can certainly win 1 more game on the road and then it's just about protecting home court.

Pacers are mid I guess. Knicks will draw better ratings. Those celebrities are going to be so smug. Pacers weren't winning games against the Knicks because they were the better team, they were stealing games and that may have only emboldened the Knicks.

Game #2 was not a fluky win

I don't think the Knicks are going to lose another game in this series.

The paradigm shifted drastically. 3-0 vs 2-1. We're living in a different reality now.

Game 1 Pacers stole but in game 2 they definitely out played Knicks to win that one.

We are definitely not watching the same games, maybe even sport.

But, but the pairadime has shifted!!

Just wanted to pop my head in to see if you guys aren't inside on your NBA/Xbox's watching a forgone conclusion. And instead, outdoors celebrating a glorious Memorial Day with friends and family. Which looks to be the case so, fantastic!

I mean, god bless anyone having to spend hours of this day hearing Doris Burke pontificate.

As for tonight, I really don't know who is going to win the game, but I do know that the series suddenly got real for both teams.

If OKC wins, they get to take the series home to close door in Game 5.

If MIN wins, then it's a tied series and they've done their job to stay alive.

I don't know who wins, but after giving up 143 points last game, OKC will have an increased defensive emphasis and tape to review. I feel confident about this game going under 219. This game will have a much different feel. Should be a mudder and when you're certain of that, no point taking a risk on the outright winner.

Pacers blowing it.

What game are you watching?

The Pacers were up by as much as 20 points and ended up losing by 6. I made my comment after the lead had been cut in half.

Maybe we are watching a different game or sport? ☺️

But you are all over the map. Pacers up 20 and give up a 7 - 0 run and they are blowing it, Pacers lose a game and they never had a chance. When OKC lost by 40 the other night did you think they should fold the franchise and have all their players become free agents?

I was just being chummy. 😋 Each series is unique. The difference is that Indy had a chance to put the series away at home (go up 3-0) and blew a 20 point lead. I actually expected OKC to lose that last game on the road.

Since the opposite of what I expected happened in Indy, I needed to change my worldview since it was incorrect. I bought into all the Indy hype the media was feeding me and had to reassess the flukiness of their 2-0 lead.

For the record, who do you believe will win that series? You don't have to answer if you don't want, but the Knicks performance was sufficient enough for me to flip flop. Indy had all the momentum and they lost it all.

Minnesota shot well, Edwards only took two shots, good rebounding, too many turnovers.

Odd half. I guess I’ll take down 8 knowing Edwards is likely to turn it on.

Man Jalen Williams and NAW played out of their minds tonight. I thought we'd see more Hartenstein this series for rebounding but OKC seems to prefer having the spacing. ANT seemed a little bit passive but overall I thought was trying to make the rights plays and was still pushing to get into the lane, Randle on the other hand seemed totally thrown off with the swarming defense, in particular when they started with Caruso on him. Kinda seems like the TWolves let one slip away with all the bench guys having such great games, but credit to OKC who made play after play down the stretch.

Can't really argue with any of this.

I woke up feeling fine and relatively resigned to the notion that the Thunder are the best team by far this year and if the Wolves aren't going to win it then I'm glad for the Thunder if they do.

Going with the white out when other team is the one wearing white is something...
Minnesota fans aren't really use to having a team in a conference final. Cut them some slack.

Two years in a row...

That ain't nothing

:hifive:
Indeed. Last time the Hornets had a home playoff or play-in game, I was on my honeymoon. Which reminds me that I need to plan a trip for our 10th next year.

Just be sure to color coordinate your shirts for the trip.

took me until that post to realize it was a Magic Johnson alias all along

eta: if i'd bothered to read i'd have seen @Navin Johnson already grabbed the low hanging fruit. that said, i'll leave mine up for posterity.

Eminence just can't help himself.
:scream: is that dude back? I suppose he's probably never been gone and I've just done a poor job of recognizing the next-name-up and/or alias. :oldunsure:

I'm fairly certain it's him. There was another alias of his that met a similar fate, disappeared for a while, now back as this alias. The posting styles are identical and the hinges come off too quickly for it not to be. The defensiveness with a very surface level depth of computation is the dead giveaway.

It has been a long time and you would think he would have grown up a little during that time.

To me, KAT is often pretty much unplayable. His own knuckleheadedness/low basketball IQ is most always the reason

Brunson, not so much

Just my general sense

I'm sure the stats show something different
