2024-25 NBA Thread: Game 7!! (154 Viewers)

could not stay awake for the fourth quarter but man lakers losing with luka and labron 4 to 1 is surprising our wolves looked great take that to the bank brohans

James can still do it on offense most of the time will be 41 and is looking slower on D against the young teams as the games get more intense, Luca plays D like he is 41 already. Not a good combo for playoff success.

The NBA game I have been watching this playoffs if a far cry from the regular season games, it is almost fun to watch again. Tough D, physical basketball is back.

He can't do it offensively either, not playing those type of minutes. His fourth quarter stats in this series where pretty bad overall.
41 minutes per game is ****ing bonkers for a 40 year old dude. Basically right in line with his career average in the playoffs but way too much for a dude his age. He is averaging the 7th most mpg in the playoffs but is closer to #1 (Jamal Murray @ 41.8) than he is to #8 (Brunson @ 39.6).

I am not bad mouthing James at all. This is on coaching. He is 40, if Redick can't find a way to get him 5 to 8 minutes of rest in the first half then he shouldn't be the coach.

Team records vs. Top 6 seeds and GSW (including playoffs):

OKC 25-10 .714
CLE 24-10 .706
BOS 22-10 .688
IND 22-15 .595
MIN 20-20 .500
GSW 20-20 .500
HOU 20-21 .488
DEN 17-22 .436
LAC 15-25 .375
NYK 13-24 .351
DET 13-26 .333

It would be best for both sides if Lebron did a sign or opt in and trade. Lakers aren't doing anything with this roster. Get Lebron another chance at a title and get a pick and young player for the Lakers.

People have been saying that for years but he obviously just wants to be a Laker.

Of course he had better chances elsewhere, but there was a path for the Lakers. Moving forward there isn't a path to make the finals.

Sure there is. Luka gets back to being a top 5 player, Lebron continues to defy aging, Reaves takes another leap, and they get a stretch big that can play defense.

IIRC, LBJ has a bunch of other business interests in L.A. . . . a production company, a restaurant chain, a health and wellness / fitness company, a bunch of real estate, and other things he is a partner / investor / ambassador / endorser for. I am not sure he could be as active or in the loop for new ventures if he had to be in another market (unless he went back to CLE). LeBron the businessman might be able to further the brand in someplace like NYC, but most of the other locations in the league probably wouldn't make much business sense for him. At this point, I think he is much more focused on building a recurring revenue stream post-playing days than switching teams and chasing a ring somewhere.

I understand that, but if he wanted to go one more time for a title I am sure with his resources he could make it work for a year or two.

Oh, I dunno.....as long as Nico Harrison is employed by an NBA team, there's a path for the Lakers.

He could always go back to Cleveland for a hometown discount. They seem good.

Fair, I should say an extremely unlikely path.

I mean they just got Luka like 3 months ago. Who knows what can happen. They have a prevent decent lineup minus the 5, maybe they can find somebody to fill that. They just won 50+ games after a huge roster shift I think they are ok for next year.

I don’t know who is a better matchup for the Thunder but I’d like the Nuggets to win tonight so we can get the second round started, too much time off for OKC. TIA

You know they'll somehow find a way to get Giannis :hot:

Tim Duncan 21 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 3 blocks, TS% of .577
David Robinson 24 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 4 block, TS% of .597
Victor Wembanyama 21 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 4 blocks, TS% of .565

Stephon Castle 15 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, TS% of .522
My first thought was, "looks like 3 HOFers and a Malcolm Brogdon".

The Pistons just won 44 games. The regular season is easy if you try. It is the Lakers and Lebron. Anything less than a finals appearance is failure at this point. They are probably 1 starter and 3 good rotational players away from being in that discussion.

The regular season is easy if you try.
This is why I think the Celtics coasted for parts of the season. IMO, they could have gone all out to win more games in the regular season, but they valued rest and health instead to be as healthy and whole as possible heading into the post season.

They lost 6 games this season when Mazzulla benched 2-3 (or more) main guys, seemingly for no reason. They weren't hurt, they weren't nursing an old injury, and they had been playing regularly leading up to those games. For example, in their two losses to CLE, they sat Brown and White in one game (tied with a minute to go and lost by 4) and sat Porzingis and Holiday in the other game (tied with 2:45 to go and lost by 7). They sat individual starters randomly throughout the year as load management games. Pretty sure they would have beaten ATL, ORL, and MIA with a full roster, and probably have gone 2-1 in the others. If they went all out, I think they could have caught the Cavs for the #1 seed. But they didn't really care to push for that. There are no prizes for how teams finish in the regular season.

This isn't a Celtic thing. Lots of teams do it and the tanking teams do it pretty much the entire season.

Nuggets are gonna clinch and the Avelanch are gonna extend their series tonight. And I'm going to be tired AF tomorrow at work.

Lakers are going to dazzle them with the Mark Williams package (Knecht + 2031 1st) by adding Rui and Vincent to sweeten the pot and take on Gianni’s’ massive salary.

Do you think first round exits are doing something?
They just got Luka and need time to build around him and James. They were a 50-win team. They just happened to play in the conference with 7 very good teams in it.

They don't have time to build around James unless you mean Bronny.

But with Lebron they have a year or two to compete. Then he retires and they have his salary slot and the LA allure and Luka.

Yeah, they have a pretty clean cap sheet after next year with only Luka, Reaves, Vanderbilt, Knecht, and Bronny on the books.

So when James retires they just have to take his salary slot and fill it with another Lebron. Seems easy enough.

They were a 50 win team this year. They add a couple of structural pieces and they can certainly "do something" with that roster.

Yawn. Luka just made a finals with a bunch of guys. There is no logical reason to think that there is no world where LA surrounds him with enough talent to get back there. Will it happen? Maybe? Who knows. But they did the hard part already - getting a top 5 guy.

They don't have the assets to do it until after next season. Only a second round pick this year and no cap room.

Kyrie isn't a bunch of guys and it was a magical run that rarely happens in the NBA and I was talking about during Lebrons time and how it would be best if he did a sign and trade.
