2024-25 NBA Thread: Finals return after 3-month hiatus (46 Viewers)

1. Sign KCP/Beasley/Klay/Heild/Harris to 2 year contract to retain cap flexibility.
2. Call up Utah and Milwaukee and see what it takes for Markinen or Lopez.

They need shooting and with Paolo and Franz as your building blocks, you don't have a ton of spots to add them outside of PG (FA class is awful) and a stretch 5 (I don't love Wendell Carter)

I have no interest in PG because I don't think PG pushes them over the top*

I have my concerns about Hartenstein as a fit in Orlando. He seems like a good player but if he can't shoot the 3, I am not interested.

*I reserve the right to change my tune if he somehow ends up in Orlando
Push them over the top or gets them to the final 4? Because the top for this team isn’t the 2025 season but the next 3-4 years after.

Twitter ppl seem to think PG is headed for Philly anyhow.
I guess get them in contention. Perhaps PG does get them on the cusp of NY, but still below Boston, imo.

Hold the line until next season. I know it's not sexy but what's one more year?

Last year's team might have been my favorite team of all time.
Unless they are willing to forgo using their space this year at all, they are not going to have a lot of ways to add talent, after 2 years from now, assuming Paolo, Franz and Suggs get paid, so they may as well maximize this offseason even if it makes them expensive in two years
Yeah, I'm no cap guy, but from what I understand they can spend next offseason as well.

If they can convince Klay or KCP to do a 1-1 deal, this would be a way to see if Franz and Paolo can actually coexist in the playoffs. It's all about those 2 plus Suggs and then young guys. People forget they have 2 lottery guys basically just breaking in.

I'm all about adding talent but there is no perfect answer to their questions.
Right, they can have space next season, but that would basically mean punting on this offseason, since they could only sign 1 year deals

PG is holding things up!
Wonder if teams are finally taking the tampering charges seriously.
Or alternatively, the league let everyone know they were going put the hammer down.
True. Plus with the new rules allowing teams to negotiate with their own players early this year, lots of big moves have happened already (OG, Siakam, Monk, Quickley, etc). Makes it seem slower than usual. Those would have all been in the big 6pm/3pm news dumps in previous years.

Signs with sixers!!!
@mikeascotto
Breaking: The Philadelphia 76ers and free agent center Andre Drummond have agreed to a two-year, $10+ million deal, league sources told @hoopshype. Drummond gets a player option Year 2. During his career, Drummond has been a two-time All-Star and a four-time rebounding
Truly baffled by the release of this news right now

Drummond to the 76ers. 2 year 10 million
Kevin Porter 2 years to the Clippers. I don't see money yet.
Since they didn’t say, I assume it’s for the minimum. Seems like kind of a bad guy, though maybe the latest charges were a little overblown. Who knows, but interesting either way

RIP Nuggets?

That's a massive loss/hole for them now, especially coming off losing Bruce Brown last season.

Was there any real reason that the nuggets could not have matched that kcp deal?
Kroenkes are cheap and that would have kept them in the 2nd apron.
Don’t worry. Word is they might trade for Westbrook.
I would be ****ing furious. A team without shooting trading for him.... Sounds like something they would do.
If it makes you feel better, the lakers won the title with KCP as a starter and decided to move on from him in favor of Westbrook and it worked out great.
