2024 Mid Year Song Draft (2 Viewers)

3.ee - Brittany Davis - "Sepricon"

With Mystikal back in jail again, this is a good stand-in.

I do not have a real strong album of the year contender at this point, but every time I give this one a spin, I think it is right up there.

J.3 Money Boys - The Future is a Lonely Place

P.S. These guys remind me of 2009 Frank Turner singing for 2012 Menzingers.
Was lining these guys up too.
It's only fair... I had Cloud Nothings on my list ;)

I am getting wrecked in this draft
It's great... Means we can make other picks instead. Although tbh, I don't have as many slam dunk hell yeahs lined up this year.

3. English Teacher — Nearly Daffodils

From my most listened to album of the year. I find listening to this album very comforting. Perhaps this is partially due my inappropriate old man crush on Lily Fontaine but overall they are talented musicians and songwriters.

Nice that band was on my list for tomorrow

Not tomorrow, but on my list as well.

4. The Decemberists — Oh No!

I haven’t been crazy about the last few Decemberists albums and almost ignored this new one. I ended up deciding to give it a courtesy listen and am glad I did. It’s my favorite album of theirs since Hazards of Love in 2009 (one of all-time favorites).

4.NV - Party Dozen - The Big Man Upstairs

Party dozen are a two piece drum and sax band from Australia, their last album was very well received in the noise-rock world.

This isn't noise rock, it's more melodic/anthemic, a bit shoegazey but just generally awesome.

Another New Order style offering from them... Feel like they always have a J&MC undercurrent, which always works for me. Quietly (loudly) becoming one of my favorite bands due to a pretty steady and consistent dropping of solid tunes.

3. You'll be there for me- A Place to Bury Strangers

3.DM She’s Leaving You - MJ Lenderman

I’m more of a Wednesday fan than a fan of his last album but I’m really looking forward to this new one.

Big news on Indie Twitter is that Lenderman and Karly Hartzman of Wednesday have broken up.

I didn’t see that. That sucks. Rat Saw God was one of my favorite 2023 albums.

5.NV - All My Exes Live in Vortexes - Rosie Tucker

If the title isn't enough to draw you in, the opening lyrics - “I hope no one had to piss in a bottle at work to get me the thing I ordered on the internet.” should do the trick.

6. Wilco - Hot Sun
