2025 College Football Thread: Lane Kiffin suddenly feels compelled to read morals clause of contract (80 Viewers)

Oops. ACC learns about Reply All in communications as to how they plan to communicate re: ND. We won’t know the content of said messages, but there clearly might have been more said behind doors that resulted in Bevacqua’s response vs just seeing the end result.

How long does ND plan to embarrass itself with their hurt feelings?
Well the media jumped on his case to his response. It is fair to point out that there may be more to it than surface level and he might be more justified in saying they were disappointed in what occurred.

But I hope they move beyond it from here. Time to go close some NIL deals and get back to football.
I think ND the school has moved on Bevacqua did his media tour and had what was really just end of year press conference and I haven't seen anything since. This was not breaking news from ND today as podcast guys were talking about it yesterday. It was obviously a big news item and dominated the news cycle which has people talking about it. Of course, people who do not like ND will make the "How long does ND plan to embarrass itself with their hurt feelings?" comments to make them feel better about being second choice to actually play in the ever so exciting Pop Tart Bowl.

The Pop Tart bowl is awesome. A BYU/ND game would have been a fun one; I would have enjoyed betting a house on Notre Dame. I would have liked watching the players have fun eating a giant Pop Tart after covering the spread.
Until a bunch of ND players (starting with Love) sit out. Bowl season used to be fun.

Went to bed with a scandal and woke up to a tragedy. Unbelievable story. I feel for everyone Moore hurt. What a piece of ****.

It's been a fun few years, but back to the dark times. Short term is probably gonna suck, recruiting, committs, transfers should be interesting. Long term depends on who gets hired. Get the **** outta here with Sanders or Meyer, but whoever it is will have their work cut out for them. There's big issues in Ann Arbor and a coach is going to need to fix a lot more than football.

I'm already exhausted. Get Dusty May in for an interview and see what he knows about football.

The Michigan Coach was arrested and is being detained by police?
They don't arrest you for impregnating someone other than your wife, trust me on this one
So he's assaulted his wife I'm assuming? Please don't be mad with me, I'm just trying to piece this together, the Reddit MODS have had their hands full the last several hours
Hard to tell exactly what is the truth, I'm sure it will be covered tomorrow...

Leave it to Michigan to steal the spotlight from Notre Dame which quickly had seized the title this week of most hated college football team in America
Sounds like he broke into the girlfriends house and threatened her.
Holy Bananas...all this guy had to do was lay low while this unfolds, wife divorces him but in a year or two he would have a new $1M job as an assistant or head coach at a smaller school
Not now, he just flushed his career down the drain and I wouldn't expect him to be around football anytime in the near future
Lost his multi-million dollar job, his reputation, at least half his money, his wife, his kids, his side piece and went to jail all in one day. Merry Christmas I guess man.

Did it to himself. I hope he can find help, but he can get ****ed and i have little sympathy for him.

Eta. I'm bored to death by bureaucracy of college football, coaching carousel and contract talk. Glad to be drug back into it. This ****ing guy......

The unsubstantiated rumors of this affair have been circulating around the innerwebs and these parts in the glove region for a few months.

Just wonder if UM had beaten tOSU if any of this had come out.

College football is not "college football" anymore, far from it. The sport we all loved growing up is gone forever and not for better. Coaches have zero loyalty to players or schools. Players don`t care about being a student athlete preparing for life and playing sports. All they care about is who is going to pay me more? NIL, transfers, 5-6 years eligibility and still not graduate. Players will be at 3 maybe 4 schools, bigger well funded schools will buy the best players. Then after securing the players all the blowhards will thump their chest about how good their ole school is.

College football in reality now is not the NFL, but it is professional football.

Yes, my daughters friend is married to an assistant on the staff. The investigation started 4-5 weeks ago. With laws, lawyers, contracts, it takes time. There also is an aborted pregnancy rumor and that is how everything got rolling. Now a doordash driver claims he delivered food to her and Moore a few times. Moore's stupidity was not going to last much longer.

You're right, getting excited about players and the future is gone no matter how much i want to hang on. Money, bureaucracy, scandal is what's left of the best football on the planet.

Yesterday's news was one thing, but today's is another. I'm sick to my stomach hearing this. Michigan deserves the hate it's going to get. Too many years with nonsense scandals and something needs to change.

Yeah talk about a mess right before a bowl game. Anyone on the fence about leaving is gone now. I'd be surprised to see Michigan hold it together against Texas.

Absolutely. The program is a total mess. If the game were today i wouldn't be watching and I'm not sure I'll watch when it is on.

It's gonna be tough digging back out of this one. Timing is exceptional.

Anyone know if Nick Saban likes money?

Nothing will change anywhere. This will pass just like everything does in 24 hour cycles. The so called hate is just from other fan bases. Because it is a high profile school with a huge fan base A winning season with a new HC and everything is forgotten. I am a Texas guy, Sark shows up drunk to a rally at USC and was rumored to be drunk at practices. We don`t care because he turned it around. Sark paid his dues and with Ws all is forgotten. Bobby Petrino, Rick Pitino, the list goes on and on.

Boston Celtic HC was fired for the same thing, then they won the NBA title and that was never mentioned again. As I stated college football is now pro ball. These are paid employees, coaches and athletes. So treat them as such. hire, fire, then move on.

Lane Kiffin betrayed his team and fan base..but LSU does not care. As soon as he wins a couple big games at LSU they will be carrying him around on a throne. Of Course Ole Miss fans will never forgive him.

Lol, he likes money. Hates NIL. I doubt he wants back in to college football as it is now. He got out at the right time.

I think Michigan's best option is to go after ASU HC Kenny Dillingham. He's really upset that ASU doesn't have NIL money to compete.

There's plenty of hate from within the fan base too. The pattern of national embarrassments has gotten pretty old.

But again you're right and I agree with your overall assessment. I'm a naive dreamer that still believes in ethics and doing things the right way. The Team the team the team, there has to be a little room left for that mentality or what's the point of caring? Maybe/probably there isn't anymore. I should probably stop typing for the day. It's just football, but damn this set my day off on the wrong foot.

I was just kidding about Saban. He was smart enough to know when to say when.

I'm not even thinking about coaches at this point. Lots of dust left to settle. What i do want (if he's staying, I'm thinking maybe/probably, but have no idea) is a staff that can develop Underwood. Silver lining is this wasn't the staff to do it and maybe they bring one in that can.

I don't know what the right call is for Michigan here. Letting the dust settle would be great, but not having a coach (or plan) for transfer portal season will be a disaster. Bowl game DEC 31, Transfers Jan 02. If I were them, I'd want to get someone under contract ASAP.

Now if the AD is at risk of losing his job, that complicates things even more.

Just wonder if UM had beaten tOSU if any of this had come out
Cmon. This is a little bigger than a game, even the big ones. I know "**** Michigan" but a man broke into a pregnant(?) woman's house threatening to kill her and himself. Regardless of timing his affair and the fallout was coming either way.
Supposedly, officials at UM have known about this for weeks but did not move on it until the mistress family pressed matters. What was the administration waiting for?

I think they got a good one with this iterim guy Biff Poggi. I like the cut of his jib. Potential for scandalous behavior seems low.

Stands to reason, just from a legal perspective, it takes a few weeks to get everything documented and all I's dotted and Ts crossed. I think this was mentioned above, but should probably be repeated.

Great question and I'd love hear a good answer to it.

I had to google him. But a guy who goes by Biff and coaches in a cut up sleeveless t-shirt is solid in my book.

Absolutely. The program is a total mess. If the game were today i wouldn't be watching and I'm not sure I'll watch when it is on.

It's gonna be tough digging back out of this one. Timing is exceptional.

Anyone know if Nick Saban likes money?
Lol, he likes money. Hates NIL. I doubt he wants back in to college football as it is now. He got out at the right time.

I think Michigan's best option is to go after ASU HC Kenny Dillingham. He's really upset that ASU doesn't have NIL money to compete.

I think they got a good one with this iterim guy Biff Poggi. I like the cut of his jib. Potential for scandalous behavior seems low.
I had to google him. But a guy who goes by Biff and coaches in a cut up sleeveless t-shirt is solid in my book.
For sure. It's not like there are a bunch of Biff's running around.

This may be the last one ever that we run across in the wild.

What you're looking at Biff you're looking at a peak coaching physique

Poggi’s fashion declaration might be worse. He acknowledged he shaves his upper body prior to preseason camp.

“I don’t tolerate heat extremely well and it’s hot down here, so I desire as little stuff on my skin as possible,” Poggi said. “During the heat, I’m always shaving that things off. It’s just I do not wish to drop dead of heat exhaustion in front of the players.”

Tough to fire someone on whispers and rumors.

It was all rumors and here say until this week. Not actually confirmed by the participants Moore and the mistress. The mistress herself was not talking until this week. Once she talked it was over. That is why things moved so fast after as they should have. Moore bolted to her apartment right after his firing and she called the police.

So there was no ongoing investigation being done to make sure the T’s were crossed and the i’s dotted prior to yesterday as someone said above?

Good God - who wrote that article? I hope it wasn't Biff dammit.

Lawyers handle these things and advise on when to move. I am sure all of the previous investigation was well documented.

I’m trying to find where I read this but according to some Michigan writer, it’s been common knowledge amongst players, coaches and admin since this summer that Moore had been fooling around. Of course he denied it when asked by admin about it but if they really wanted to know, it would have been easy enough to find out.

I have no idea about that. My older daughter played volleyball at Michigan and has ties to many in the athletic dept. Plus one of her good friends is married to a guy on the staff so I get the info from what she gets and tells me.

I went to Michigan and believe me there would be zero tears shed if Manuel is fired next. People are not happy the way it went down but they are happy Moore is no longer the HC.

I'll also say, again, to be clear, I don't have any idea what is happening or what has been happening at Michigan. Just approaching this from a position of logic and common sense and what makes sense. Not saying ANY of it happens that way. All I know is if the usuals and their "reports" and "rumors" are from the same sources last time, you're likely not getting real, legit info. Its weird we haven't been provided links to ANY of this thus far outside of twitter posts. On the internet there are actual policy reports and all those sorts of things, so we know the events are legit. The rest seems to be :hophead:
