This is the first year I can recall where my primary frustration is not being able to take advantage of all the value opportunities I see....which is not a large number but there are screaming values I can't fit without the eradication of value studs. I suppose there could be worse problems.

My biggest problem is that all the guys I consider bargains share the same bye weeks...or maybe that's why they're priced as bargains.

Agreed. Not many “value” guys that are catching my eye besides, say, J Palmer, Tre Tucker (homer bias, and also seeing a #2WR at #3 or #4 prices) and now maybe Crosky-Merritt.

I’ve pretty much been locked in on the majority of my core, and if I want to make a tweak up a couple of bucks in RB or WR, I find it’s pretty easy to find a 2 QB combo that is still solid, but saves me the buck or two I need. For example, right now I’m at Dak and Geno for $29 total. Totally banking on Dak carrying the team, obviously, and hoping Geno is a solid/healthy/reliable backup if/when needed.

But I’m also not seeing those 4 or 5 <$7 guys who I’m trying to jam onto my roster. I’m at 22 players fwiw.

Yes it’s a good question. I can’t imagine having a team with no studs. If your team doesn’t include some $15-$29 players then I don’t see a point.

Puka Nacua was a $2 player a couple of years ago. Helped me get 2nd overall, most in the finals had him. There won't be a Nacua every year, but I would not overlook some value.

In a nutshell, yes. Why? Because there are only 30 spots available, and if you only selected the best players based on points per dollar, you'd spend about $100 of your $250 budget.

Not sure I have enough stud power. Feel like I went after too many "value" guys possibly. And the bye weeks of the RB concern me, but I really like the four with the bye week conflict. That said, this is like version #10 or so already, so I'm sure I'll change it up a few more times as things change (or every time I read a blurb about XYZ and overreact accordingly).

Week 7 - the only two teams on bye are the Bills and the Ravens.

This implies clearing your roster completely and starting with a blank slate. I don’t do that at all.
But I imagine you meant: which already selected players are you NOT unclicking when iterating on your roster.
If so, I’ll play…

QBs: entirely interchangeable. This is where I find, or use, the extra dollar or 2.
RB: I seemed to be locked into the combo of Swift, Harvey, Pacheco, and one of Hubbard or Henderson (they share the same Week 14 bye, so I pick one or the other). Oh, and Bigsby as my lower priced guy.
WR: I’ve been locked onto the Sutton/Evans/Golden/Tucker combo for most of the time iterating on this. I like the value they bring and allows me to play around in other areas, especially more lower priced WR and now Jacory in the RB mix.
TE: I play around but keep ending up with the 3 TE combo of JFerguson/Kraft/MTaylor
K: haven’t changed from Grupe/Santos/Slye in weeks (running with it unless/until some news makes me change this)
D: haven’t changed from Jets/Chiefs in weeks (FBG 2 highest ranked of all the $4 Ds. Just running with it unless someone has a case for another $4 D)

Funny, because I have Dak as a bargain right now. At present, my QB's are Dak Prescott and Jared Goff. I also am looking hard at rookie TE Mason Taylor from the Jets.

IF I make it there the playoffs would be fun with this grouping, of course I could also get bounced week 8 given the very shallowness of the makeup and that seems to be my biggest bye....

QB's - Goff's a pure pocket passer, but in this scoring, he can compete with the running QB's. Contest QB6-8 last 3 years and is now priced as contest QB15? Yes, please! Ward will be a decent value if he gets at least 400 yards rushing and about 4/5 rushing TD's. Don't expect alot through the air.

RB's - 3 that may top 300 touches, another in the 200-250 range, and a dart throw for good measure. Spent big at the position, but it shows.

WR's - I've had every one of them on at least 1 iteration thus far, so I like them all. Only $75 spent, but looks closer to $85.

TE's - Thin here, but hearing good things about Ertz in camp.

PK/TD - I like the cheap ones too, but would be scared to roster only 2 of each.

Any of the contest veterans here have any data they'd like to share on success rate of rosters as a function of % of budget of starters compared to entire team? Like you have to have depth for byes and injuries, but are there any trends of like "if you only have 60% of your budget on starters each week, you are more likely to lose". I'm finding when I consciously try to take a "studs and darts" approach, I get just north of 70% of my budget on weekly starters (players I expect to contribute to my score each week), and that feels about right, but was curious if there was data on a larger sample size.

Just now starting to make lineups. This is my 2nd iteration, probably gonna either swap Tua for someone else or add a 3rd QB. Also feel like I should maybe consolidate some of those RB and WR dart throws and make my RB room a bit safer. I'm looking at yall's rosters, is 2 $4 defenses the new meta for this contest? I could see it, I usually don't use my 3rd defense much and it'd save me a dollar. Also also I need to fix bye weeks, I've got a few that are too overloaded for my taste right now.
