Jaire Alexander being released. Call me crazy but I wouldn't mind us spending some coin on him. Not the prototype CB type that Carroll likes though.
 
I think Pete's gonna make a lot out of Stokes and Porter. Wouldn't mind Alexander for competition and depth, but not panicked at all.

That is a whole lot of faith in a guy who hasn't really played much in two years and a rookie. I would like additions in LB and DB because I am not sold on who we have. Glad you have more faith in them... or maybe Pete... than I.

I have concerns about our back 7, for sure. May take a while for them to gel, and might even be a disaster.

The team has kind of punted on LB. Elandon is clearly the alpha right now. If I thought they could get something done with a 3-safety look with Chinn as a nickel LB, i would be into that.

Chinn is an exciting piece. You can move him around a ton.

Even if the starters put it together, we are so very thin all across that back 7. It makes me nervous as hell.
 
Shaq Griffin in for a visit.

Mostly, meh but I can see it. Would much rather see Jaire Alexander signed. It's not like Griffin's injury history is really any better than Jaire's.
 
Once Spillane and Deablo left, the cupboard was empty.

I am in favor of the strategy, even if I would have kept Spillane. But he was a journeyman who blossomed here. We have 4 veteran journeyman now, Roberts had a better track record than Spillane did when he arrived. I feel like we can find a pair to hold the fort.

And that's all we need, if the DLine plays well. Without Maxx Koonce and Wilkins performing, the LB won't matter. We could have two studs, and if the line isn't getting pressure, you have a bad defense.

Phew. I was getting a bit optimistic about the coming year, so this helps set me straight.

Calling it now: 8 wins max this season. Not a playoff team. Anyone wanna take the over?

ETA: just googled it and it looks like most betting sites have the line at 6.5. So I guess I AM still being optimistic;)

Very misleading headline. It should read "Raiders player Christian Wilkins". He's not star anything.
 
Got a sleeper alert the Dolphins are looking to acquire a TE after dealing Jonnu.

I do want to see what Chip Kelly can do with Bowers & Mayer but I would also be interested to know what the Raiders could get for Mayer.

Yea... I have a little drool come out of my mouth thinking what they can do with both Bowers and Mayer....but if we aren’t going to get them both on the field Mayer is probably worth more in a trade. Chip seems to have evolved and is more flexible in using his roster so I would like to see what happens.
 
Man, listening to JPJ gush about Donte Thornton is so awesome. I can't recall a Raiders rookie class over the last three decades that had me more excited than this one, especially combined with last year's stellar class, and a walking HOFer in his prime leading them all. AFCW is brutal, so expectations are tempered, but cannot wait to see this group come together.

A joke you've made more than a few times now in a Raiders thread, while sporting a Raiders username, while being a Chargers fan. First couple times, it was fine, whatever. At this point, though, it's starting to seem like a troll job. You're a good poster, and I hope you continue sharing your thoughts in this thread. But if you're going to dig at the Raiders when you do, eventually you are going to rub peeps here wrong. What he said to you in response was plenty lightened compared to what many fans would say in the same situation.

The only time I joked about Telesco in this thread before this was on Feb 2, about 6 weeks ago. In other posts, I provided some info about Telesco's performance... to the extent those posts were disparaging, that was driven by his performance, not by me.

Regardless, I wasn't expecting you guys to take offense, so I'll adjust going forward.

Had a fantastic draft, but Brady didn't want him; and even if TT was okay/decent or some derivation, Spytek looks good/great so far, so good.

Chargers on the come up too. Broncos same, and Chiefs are who we thought they were. AFCW gonna be 🔥🔥🔥.
