______ Passed Away Today, RIP (1 Viewer)

Gene Hackman, 95
I can't remember any role he played where he didn't dominate. All time great.
I just watched The Conversation recently, he’s incredible in that. RIP
He was incredible in just about every film he did. Top 5 favorite actor for me. RIP
Yep and they don’t cast leading actors like him anymore. Had that average guy look, actually looked his age. We need to bring that back.
He was an average looking guy but is easily one of the greatest actors. Shows what great talent can do. He was a unique guy. Even his voice was unique. You hear one word and know it’s him.

These are just reports in the news but Gene was found on the mud floor kitchen, possibly fell suddenly could have died from that fall
Mrs Hackman was found in the bathroom with pills strewn about and the poor dog was found dead in the bathroom closet

-This was told to reporters by the Sheriff after he entered the house
I had assumed they found the bodies together along with the dog

My wife and I made up a game where you look up an actor on the IMDB app, and attempt to name the four “known for” movies that appear. What’s so amazing about Hackman’s four (The French Connection, The Royal Tenenbaums, Unforgiven, and The Conversation) isn’t just that he nailed each one, but also that they span 30 years -including two Oscar winners more than 20 years apart.

Someone would have a real hard time trying to convince me that we've had a better film actor than Gene Hackman.
Robert Duvall comes to mind but I think they're both on that Mount Rushmore.
Can't argue with those two,but Dustin Hoffman should get some consideration.

As should the likes of Nicholson, DeNiro, Pacino, Daniel Day-Lewis (honestly, he’s incredible), Hopkins, and Denzel. It really comes down to personal preference at this tier. Point is, we all lost a great one in Gene. RIP.

So murder suicide by the wife after finding Gene dead. She locks the dog up to die and kills herself... At least based on this. Hopefully not. Pretty awful.

Eta... Disregard. Dog not dead in a closet.

Of note, two other dogs found on property alive.

And an article said the dead dog was found in the same room or near her, as well as a live dog. Not in a closet. Maybe the dog ate some pills...

And they ruled out CO poisoning as the from door was open and house well ventilated (and no apparent signs, whatever those might be)

eta: I should've held off about the dogs and facts.... now seeing a report the dead dog WAS in a closet.

That's a great pull, zam.

And he doesn’t live too far from you. Great guy who I’ve met a few times.
Middletown. I have seen him at the Foster's Grille in Marhsall a few times.

Would dogs survive two weeks without food/water? Wouldnt they start eating the bodies? This is all really morbid.
there's a saying about a difference between loyalty of dogs and cats being one would eat their owners once dead, eater being the cat. Not sure if true.

That aside, horrible situation all-around. RIP Mr & Mrs Hackman and dog.

There have been cases of dogs doing the same.

Sorry, it's Middleburg - not Middletown. He's got a ranch out there. He's a tiny guy.

Colin Powell passed away.

EDIT: In 2021. I thought he had already passed but when I saw that I figured I thought wrong.

Sorry about that.
Update

Is anybody thinking, like my wife, that Hackman's wife killed him- maybe accidentally- which is why she killed herself?
I'm thinking he died and she committed suicide and the dog ate the spilled pills.
This sounds like a plausible explanation sadly.
Dead dog was locked in a crate or closet...couldn't have eaten the pills unless fed them.

Wife was in her 60s... I can see the situation as my wife thought...killing herself out of guilt for ending Hackman and forgetting the dog locked in a crate. I get that more than just tossing up her hands as a not-old person and ending it, while leaving 1 or her dogs locked up to die.

Eta... Certainly could've been the latter. I'm imposing the thought that they're dog lovers and wouldn't intentionally murder one of their own.
