I work an an office with almost all women. There are two other males total. I get low grade harassment quite a bit. I just roll with it.

Not sure the appropriate thread - but the woman who created the "Sexual Assault" spreadsheet has outed herself. I had read recently that she feared that Harper's was running an article that was going to name her in March - so she jumped ahead of the game and published her own essay on the topic - accepting that the concept spiraled out of her control, albeit the genesis had good intentions.

I am not sure where I stand on this - I understand the need to report and out people who sexually assault others; but, I am not sure that an anonymous whisper campaign is the right tool for the job.

There have been some silly ones since day 1. On network news early in this process one of the networks ran the story of an up and coming actress who was claiming assault. She met a producer for a "business" dinner at a hotel restaurant. After dinner he suggested they continue the meeting in his hotel room, which she agreed to do (she did not come to this meeting with an agent mind you). Once up in the hotel room, he asked her for sex. She said no and left.
That's her complaint. It makes the criticism of the movement (most notably for me by that group of French women) make a wee bit of sense. Stick to the truly vile and criminal complaints (which I'm sure there are enough of to keep this story going) and stop trying to make a victim out of any woman who has ever been asked for sex by someone she wasn't attracted to.

Is this where we get into the "well, you're wearing the uniform" part of the program? It seems a bit early regarding a pretty serious problem, but it was always waiting. The shameless gratuity of the world's hottest pretendy girls gathering at an awards ceremony to celebrate the "heroinism" of their wolf-whistleblowing after a century of auctioning their pulchritude to the highest bidder on Sunset does rush us to second-level judgement, however.

I dont know about a specific strategy per se but like I have said tons of times the shift was so quick and so dramatic that this type of mindless crap was bound to happen and it takes away from the really heinous actions of guys. Its borderline criminal to lump Aziz and others under this sexual assault umbrella.

SeePretty decent article on Ansari that starts to get to the heart of why this is so difficult and messy now. In situations described by "Grace", she was admittedly struck by and chasing celebrity. She gave plenty of signals that she was interested in him and, from all appearances, had the ability to say no and leave at any point, but chose not to. I'm not so sure that women are really that powerless today.

Of course, the flip side of her argument is that young men who are looking for casual sexual encounters put themselves at risk of being targeted by these types of accusations. And the more encounters they have, the more risk that they take on. If you don't want to be accused of sexual harassment or assault/date rape, then stop sleeping around.

Disagree on this one. There are LOADS of reports on Reddit of NDT attending speaking engagements at colleges and putting full court presses on young females during more exclusive access events. To the point of ignoring all the male students and making the girls really uncomfortable.
He's a well known jerk who has a known history of using his status to lure young women. That's obviously not evidence for a criminal trial, but I think it's a good indicator for how he views women and how he views those beneath his status.

This is utter bull ####. Should married men stop screwing their wives too? Just in case she decides to rewrite history down the road at some point? How about we penalize people for false accusation. Good friend of mine got accused of rape after a one nighter. Had his life turned upside down. Turned out to be a false claim. But as far as we've heard not a single thing happened to her. There should be a penalty for placing another in harm's way (even only legally).

at all. If you're married and having sex with just your wife, your chances of being accused of sexual assault are incredibly low. If you are sleeping with many women, often without knowing enough to judge their temperament and mental/emotional stability, then you are putting yourself in a lot of jeopardy. The case of your friend being falsely accused is prime proof of that.I'm in no way implying that women who make false accusations shouldn't be held accountable. But having sex with someone you barely know, or having sex with a lot of women, absolutely increases the odds of being falsely accused, especially in an age where the definition of consent seems awfully murky. I'm not sure how that's even debatable.
I am 100% confident that my wife will never accuse me of sexual assault because I know who she is very well and know that it's not something she would do. And, if by chance I were wrong about that, the evidence in my favor would be incredibly powerful due to length of our relationship/nature of our relationship/other people's observations of our relationship/etc.
It's similar to women who dress sexily and then walk by themselves in dark dangerous areas. It is absolutely not their fault if they are assaulted and not something that they deserve, but they certainly increased the chances that something bad would happen to them by making risky choices. We all have opportunity to decrease the odds of something unjust happening to us by making less risky choices. It does not eliminate that chance, it does not justify the actions of bad actors who take advantage of risky choices, and it does not mean that the individual who made risky choices is to blame. But it's simple logic that increasing your risky behavior increases the potential for bad outcomes.
