There's enough lackeys. AOC has guts.MCC would be much less divisive than AOC. At this point in time the Dem party needs more people like MCC as we need to unite and stop dividing.

Her opposition to Amazon was counter to the views of 70 percent of the people in her area. I can see MCC being a better match. If AOC were my Rep., I'd take a long look at her primary opposition (I'd be hard pressed to look at any R opposition while Trump is still in office). That being said, who am I to complain about what her constituency wants?
Some people use other terms but whatever. Again is does not matter as we won`t lose a seat. There's enough lackeys. AOC has guts.
Twitter is unforgiving.AOC celebrates negative oil prices and many middle class Americans losing their jobs in the energy sector. Then deletes tweet

It really is a hell of a thing.Until the heat death of the universe, there will always be one constant: Republicans telling Democrats that they will not vote for their candidate in a district that they do not live in.
I agree, AOC riles up righties like Trump riles up lefties. Both of them tweet too much before thinking things out.Man, she sure does rile you fellas up.
Lefties still getting riled up by Trump have nobody but themselves to blame. They're giving him the attention he so desperately craves. That's on them. But he's also our president so what he says or Tweets carries for more weight than a junior congresswoman (or whatever she is) from a city in NY. The fact that she gets a reaction from anybody other than her constituents is comical.I agree, AOC riles up righties like Trump riles up lefties. Not really, AOC has 6 million Twitter followers, so she is Tweeting to a national audience and most of her tweets have nothing to do with her own district. Justin Bieber has 111 million Twitter followers, do we care what he has to say? She's a super left leaning politician who says some pretty asinine things. That's not unique to her nor her party. I'd argue that the far right has some lunatics tweeting idiotic things as well but they don't get the masses riled up nearly as much as AOC does. Is it because she's hot? Is it because she scares you guys? What is it that she has over you guys that gets you so twisted? When a vapid nitwit like Ted Cruz Tweets out something moronic it doesn't get me all hot and bothered. It's just a dumb guy saying a stupid thing. Not really, AOC has 6 million Twitter followers, so she is Tweeting to a national audience and most of her tweets have nothing to do with her own district. This junior congresswoman has a thread with over 193 pages in it. On a message board originally designed for fantasy football enthusiasts. She must be riling some people up. Maybe not you, but I have a hard time believing this thread is nothing but 193 pages of AOC fans. You guys? I agreed with you that she riles people up.
I do agree 100%.This junior congresswoman has a thread with over 193 pages in it. On a message board originally designed for fantasy football enthusiasts. She must be riling some people up. Maybe not you, but I have a hard time believing this thread is nothing but 193 pages of AOC fans.
I think we both agree it's silly to get worked up over what people - people we'll never meet or know - Tweet. Donald, AOC, Cruz, The Biebs......attention starved people are gonna crave attention and Twitter seems to give them that self indulgence. I think it's silly and I think you agree.
Maddening. I tried to stay away from this forum because it was just a time sink and you're right, it's the same few folks running on a virtual treadmill to nowhere. No views are changed, nothing is gained and I just don't understand the point of the whole exercise. But I'm forced to come into the office, I'm bored out of my mind and the FFA ain't what it used to be either. So here I am. Shaking my damn head at the regurgitation of the same points that are trying to be made only to be lobbed back over the net with counterpoints. Nobody wins anything and it goes on forever.I do agree 100%.
AOC has 193 pages, do you know they are some guys here with over 250 pages of posts on Trump alone? Think about that for a second. That is thousands and thousands of posts. Never been a Trump fan but I hardly ever post in Trump threads as it is the same handful of guys everyday saying the same dam things.
I was trying to imagine what the reverse of this would be: Democrats cheering on a moderate GOP primary challenger to a far-right Congressman in rural Mississippi. I can't imagine any scenario where that race would even be on my radar. I would figure, "It's Mississippi, of course they're going to go with the conservative guy."huthut said:Until the heat death of the universe, there will always be one constant: Republicans telling Democrats that they will not vote for their candidate in a district that they do not live in.
I agree, the only way it would happen is if the Mississippi congressman had a Twitter following of 6 million plus and made controversial tweets.I was trying to imagine what the reverse of this would be: Democrats cheering on a moderate GOP primary challenger to a far-right Congressman in rural Mississippi. 1. Opposing Amazon was controversial. Her rhetoric against Bezos probably was the catalyst to Amazon pulling out. Polls showed about 70 percent of the people in and around her district supported Amazon coming. Her rhetoric on the $3 billion worth of tax incentives was cringe-worthy and extremely misleading.Pulling this in from the Biden thread. I'm genuinely curious: What kind of "outlandish stuff" has AOC said? I'm racking my brain trying to think of something she did that was particularly controversial. Certainly nothing on par with Tlaib ("Impeach the MFer") or Omar ("All about the Benjamins").
I feel like the idea of AOC seems really radical, but whenever I've seen her speak she has come across as substantive, well-informed and nuanced.
I nearly spit my water out when I read this. Are we talking about the same person here? Because I feel you have someone else in mind. She is none of those.Pulling this in from the Biden thread. Be honest, you are just upset there were no pics in this thread.General Malaise said:Maddening. It is really hard to find AOC saying anything radical. Let's look at today's headlines....BladeRunner said:I nearly spit my water out when I read this. Are we talking about the same person here? Because I feel you have someone else in mind. She is none of those.
I think the only things she's got going for her is her youth, some charm (probably) and (mostly) beauty. Whenever she opens her mouth, though, all of that disappears.
I wonder if she still gets paid while she tells everyone not to show up for work?It is really hard to find AOC saying anything radical. Let's look at today's headlines....
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calls for National Work Boycott.
Yep, nothing radical here....

Yeah, jon_mx doesn't really seem to have his finger on the pulse of that district.Sad day for @jon_mx, as AOC annihilates her former Republican primary challenger by nearly 70 points (mail in votes still to be counted).
Or she loses in the primary to Michelle Caruso-Cabrera who is well funded and running a centrist pro-business campaign.
Ain't gonna happen. Not a snowball's chance in hell.
I would not write it off. AOC is representing the socialist wing and is out of touch with her district. Losong 75,000 Amazon related jobs is not going to play well when high unemployment hits. She is more vulnerable than people think.
It is never just about money. But $1 million does make one a very credible contender and that was the point. She is an attractive candidate with a good message which matches the views of the district. She will be a formidable contender.

Yeah, jon_mx doesn't really seem to have his finger on the pulse of that district.
ouch
Update?Another doosy from her today: https://nypost.com/2020/04/03/aoc-calls-for-coronavirus-reparations-for-minorities/
We can only hope that common sense wins out and Michelle Caruso-Cabrera sends her back to her bar tending gig.
Meh....AOC has been shoved down ALL our throats as some young, woke, progressive who's taking on the system. She is an idiot. Nothing more, nothing less.Until the heat death of the universe, there will always be one constant: Republicans telling Democrats that they will not vote for their candidate in a district that they do not live in.
An idiot?Meh....AOC has been shoved down ALL our throats as some young, woke, progressive who's taking on the system. She is an idiot. Nothing more, nothing less.
Yeah, sure.If I called Donald Trump an idiot, I'd be reported and given a time out. Just want to make sure rules are enforced here consistently.
Yes...we know moderation is so unfair (didn't I just read recently in the Trump thread that his supporters don't whine and play the victim card).Yeah, sure.
The history of this forum moderation suggest otherwise.
I am not concerned, they can be convinced along with the general public. It is kind of like gay marriage, at one point the political will was not there, and then suddenly it was. My parents are the epitome of moderate democrats, mid 70's white people who voted for Biden in the primary. A few years ago they were not that concerned about policing issues and things along that nature, a few weeks ago they were talking about racial injustice in policing and how the police need to be reformed, BLM, and things along those lines.I hope AOC continues to gain traction in the Democratic party. I want to see just how far left moderate Democrats are willing to go before they just bail on the party.
Which do you think bothers you more and makes you feel inadequate, that she's a woman or that she's a minority?Meh....AOC has been shoved down ALL our throats as some young, woke, progressive who's taking on the system. She is an idiot. Nothing more, nothing less.
You wouldn’t be wrong in my humble opinion, but you’re kidding about the time out right. Trump gets called worse in here daily and nothing. If I called Donald Trump an idiot, I'd be reported and given a time out.
It's her politics, actually. Another one of my favorite lefty tactics.....label anyone who doesn't think like them as racist, sexist, etc....Which do you think bothers you more and makes you feel inadequate, that she's a woman or that she's a minority?
Don't call people idiots. If you do, you're going to be reported like you were here and suspended. Don't do it. If you see anyone calling anyone an idiot, report it. We don't want that here for anyone.Meh....AOC has been shoved down ALL our throats as some young, woke, progressive who's taking on the system. She is an idiot. Nothing more, nothing less.
But why she is an idiot? Her political views don’t make her an idiot just someone who has a different view than you. It's her politics, actually. Another one of my favorite lefty tactics.....label anyone who doesn't think like them as racist, sexist, etc....
Like when Matt Gaetz was called a child molester?Just want to make sure rules are enforced here consistently.
That was the first one that came to my mind as wellLike when Matt Gaetz was called a child molester?
