Alfred Morris, why is he rated so low (2 Viewers)

So basically Morris has no value in Fantasy unless Elliott gets hurt?

And do the Cowboys keep McFadden or try and trade him for a low pick?
I wouldn't say he has no value.  2006 and 2007 they ran the two RB system with Julius Jones and Marion Barber.

Just have to watch camp and see who is getting the carries, who is getting the goal line, etc.  But Morris could be a RB3 in FF.

If you own Alf, your best move is to take advantage of the investment size the Elliott owner is making and sell him some insurance.  I think you can get a 2nd rounder for him.
Worth a shot, but I don't think you'd get anywhere near a 2nd.  Not like the Elliott owner is going to go out and grab two handcuffs (is Morris even the backup?  Doubtful) when the whole point in Elliott is that he's a 3-down back.

I doubt you could get a second, but like the thought process.
Agree with he tactic but there is no way you will get a 2nd for him. Assuming the guy who drafts Elliot is sitting at 1.01 or 1.02, It is far more likely they would offer a 4th (being in that it is likely a 4.01 or 4.02 and the pitch from their side is it is a late 3rd).

Someone needs to get Morris a fork; he is done in FF barring a clear season-ending injury to Elliot.  Anything less and he's a very short-term stop gap to keep it together for a few weeks and if DMAC is still on the team, he's not even the clear-cut top option.

EzE, DMC and Morris... a lot of $$ at the RB position.
Not so much.Singing bonus for DMC and Morris are sunk costs and DMC is only $1.25 million and Morris $1.2. Elliiot is projected to count $4.5 against the cap.

Those 3 for a grand total of $7.25 million is pretty cheap IMO.

Give it up already

They signed him not knowing how draft would shake out. His value now would to be traded. Miami would be a good spot but his value is not a 2nd rounder. 4th to the Ellliott owner

If anything, the draft shook out more in Dallas favor of not drafting Elliott and making the Alf signing make a lot of sense.  Then they went all Jerry Jones on their fans.

I admit asking for a two for Morris is wishful thinking   I know I can get it from the guy who will draft Elliott in one of my leagues as he always wants a complete set of backs and has paid more for worse backups

I would hold out for at least a future 3rd rounder as the Elliott owner stands to lose a lot if he does get injured.  Other than that Alf is only useful as a rb5 for emergency

I understand the logic of keeping the defense off the field by sustaining more drives but there really seems to be a dearth of defensive talent in Dallas and with guys like Ramsey and Buckner on the board it was a bold move to pass on them for a RB.
LOL....Buckner is not a scheme fit. He is an 5 tech. Not a 4-3 DE.

Stud RB, behind a Young O-line.  I don't get the hate.

You make it sound like Ramsey was a polished CB without question marks.  His ability to catch/ballhawk needs significant improvement.  Rather have a plug and play potential pro bowler this year vs project player at #4 slot.

This is what I'm working on...I'm trying to offer him and a 3rd for a 2nd (in 2017).

LOLZ?  Seriously?  Because there weren't other talented defensive options or trade down opportunities?  Could they really not have moved down a couple slots for a team that loved Ramsey or Buckner and still gotten Zeke?

Would Ramsey have been a terrible scheme fit (LOL)?

Again, I do understand the logic and it certainly could pay off but on the surface it just seems like a typical Jerry Jones flash pick geared towards putting butts in the seats in the short term.

I thought Ramsey could absolutely be the pick. Zeke makes the Cowboys a better team then if you add Ramsey.....just my opinion.  You brought up Buckner and I explained why he was never even considered. "Typical JJ pick"  You do know its Will McClay and Stephen Jones pretty much running things.  Been like that for many years.  Again, Ozzie a widely respected GM was trading up for Zeke and is on record with that comment.

Baltimore wanted Ramsey.  Had to get in front of Jax.
Jerry said a team tried to trade up a few spots but did not offer enough and he added something along the lines regarding Stephen has a good relationship with this team and was told by the team the player they wanted was Elliot. At  the time most people assumed that team was 49'ers for a few reasons but later reports came out it was Ravens.

That's what Jerry said anyway and I'm sure what the other team told Stephen, whether the other team which we now assume is the Ravens was telling the truth we'll probably never know.

In case anyone cares the Ravens asst-GM said they were trying to trade up for Ramsey, not Elliot. He did allude to somehow Jerry getting some kind of bad information they wanted Elliot which he said was false and told Dallas as much.

Unless Jags traded out of 5 after Baltimore took Ramsey Dallas basically blew a free third and fourth round pick, which is what Decosta said he offered. Just adds to the terrible draft I felt Dallas had, at least terrible first two rounds.

Does this guy have any Dynasty value left?

Offered him to Zeke owner for a 2017 3rd and was quickly rejected with no counter.

He does seem to be a guy that might be 3rd on the depth chart with McFadden still there as well.  Depending on roster size he could have basically zero value.  I think he might be a guy to cut or hold on and hope McFadden is gone or he gets cut and lands elsewhere.  Close to zero value seems about right.

I'm hanging onto him until roster cuts in my league.  Injuries happen all the time.  There was already an injury scare w/ Zeke in his first practice.

Anyone know how to remove a quote box that you don't want anymore???  I must've clicked this weeks ago and it never went away

As a Zeke owner I wouldn't want Morris I'm just fine with Zeke. Could Zeke get hurt yes but so could any other player for that matter. I traded Morris and my 2nd rounder for Hyde and I'm perfectly fine with were I stand and I'm sure other Zeke owners feel the same way. Morris may be the 3rd back on this team, a case can be made for McFadden getting reps as well as Dunbar if/when healthy but one of them will probably be gone when the season starts. I'd bet it's Dunbar.

Two cents,

Tex

The problem with Morris is the space you need to make on your roster more than the cost of a 3rd rounder. If roster space wasn't an issue he might be worth a 3rd as insurance but even then you won't know if he's 2nd or 3rd I the depth chart.

Ctrl (Win) or Command (Mac) + right click will give you a menu where you can remove it.  It works about 75% of the time but sometimes the quote box gets stuck there.

If you're on mobile, your best bet is sacrificing a goat and praying to your favorite deity.

Alf is a must own. He's a guy I might reach a bit for. Dallas might run enough that Morris is a viable flex even when Zeke is playing. If this hamstring flairs up or if Zeke isn't what people think, Alf will be a DeAngelo Williams like league winner.

What about McFadden?

The local guys believe he will start the season on PUP. With "Reverend Al" playing so well, the Cowboys seem to have 1 too many running backs.

Dunbar cleared to practice this week.

Darius Jackson is also there and it doesn't look like hes going anywhere

PUP for McFadden it looks like as of today

ESPN's Ed Werder reports Cowboys RB Alfred Morris will have a "role" behind starter Ezekiel Elliott.
Werder also reports Elliott will be the starter, a question which has not been in much doubt since he was made the No. 4 overall pick. Elliott will handle the lion's share of the work, but there will be carries to go around in an offense which should be as run-heavy as any this season. Still, Morris is nothing more than a handcuff at this point.

Undrafted in my league. Is McFadden definitely the play here ?
I think he is.... but Morris always looks great for the Cowboys, at least to me. One thing though is we know that McFadden is a better receiver, I think that's a fair comment, that might be one reason he is the 'starter' while EE is out.

JJ has always loved DMC due to his Arkansas allegiance. He will get every opportunity to fill Zeke's absence.

McFadden inactive tonight and Morris still on the wire. Looks like I'm gonna lose anyway, considering picking him up in place of my kicker and going without one.

If Elliot perhaps begins his ban next week, then Morris could be the man for six weeks ??

I'm stunned after all his success with Washington there wasn't a dedicated Alfred Morris thread. Guess he wasn't a prospect?

Since this is the closest to one, here we go. You know the old deal with Alf: Two-down "plodder" who during training camp this year looked "faster, more explosive" and credits knowing the system better and eating healthier. Currently he is averaging 8.3 yards per carry this season, although it comes in a small sample size with 14 attempts. While his hands have never been good reports have him as a "much improved" passcatcher now than in the past.

Now that he's the main man in Dallas for the next 6 (?) games he should be locked into 15+ carries and (my prediction) 1-2 receptions per, as well as the goalline work; projects to be a solid RB2 with low-end RB1 value. Worse case scenario - Rod Smith or McFadden takes hie jerb and he becomes a 5-8 carry guy while possibly retaining the goal line role, making him a high-end Flex. Noted Yahoo analytic maven Michael Salfino is bullish on Alfred Morris success now and longterm.

Oh yeah... you know that old deal I posted earlier? Did I also mention he's NOT a plodder anymore? I mean really, he's NOT a plodder. SERIOUSLY.

He has looked decent this year in his few spots. Not sure if he can block, been reading he they don't really plan on him playing a role in the screen game but Zeke hadn't been doing a ton of that either.

I'll be doing backflips if he can provide 70% of Zeke.

Full disclosure? Salfino is known for hyperbole and i laughed when I read that tweet. For the record, even 70% of Zeke's weekly production in a standard league this season is this:

WK 1 NYG: 9.8

WK 2 @Den: 1.54

WK 3 @Ari: 10.78

WK 4 LAR: 18.13

WK 5 GB: 9.24

WK 7 @SF: 27.93

WK 8 @Was: 18.48

WK 9 KC: 10.71

He's worked on pass protection with Dallas and supposedly is improved enough that he can not be a liability, but we won't know for sure.
