All Android/Google All the Time (1 Viewer)

Really starting to lose my patience with Android.  Both my Nex6 and Nex9 run like absolutely dog#### now.  To top it off I have a fairly new Bravia SmartTv that runs Android and while I was really surprised at how fast and silky smooth it was when I got it, at just 4 months old now it is really bogging down as well.  All the button presses in the smart tv area now take 3-4 seconds to register, and right now I'm looking at an error message that says "Unfortunately, InteractiveTvPlatform has stopped" while I was trying to do nothing more than watch live TV.  And apparently it's frozen on this error message because I can't even click the OK button.

Just needed to vent a little.  Every release they say that they're smoothing things out and making them simpler, but it really seems like it's just becoming more complicated, unreliable, laggy, and slow with every passing month.

No but the newest 8 so probably be out mid March to early April

The my wife always got a revision behind and never had problems
I think the release is 4/18

I just bought an S7 on sale.  Weird coming down from the massive Note 4.  Pretty awesome phone though, with the exception that the tempered glass Verizon sold me doesn't fit (gotta go light them for a refund)

If you download the latest system updates you need to update the apps too.

Just ordered my 128GB OnePlus 3T today, supposed to be here next Thursday.  I have never used a screen protector on my iPhone 4S, iPhone 6, or Nexus 5 and the only time I even got a hint of a scratch was when I had a beer cap in my pocket with my phone by accident.  Since this one has Gorilla Glass 4, pretty safe to say I'm OK without one for this phone as well?

Any pixel users notice it picks up alot of pocket dust? I never noticed it that much with my note 4. Wondering if it has a slight static charge or something. Not a big deal just annoying everytime you pull from your pocket.

I have a yootech screen protector, and you can't even notice it.

TVs are a different story.  They do tend to shove too much crap on then.  They come with tons of preinstalled crap.  Also, a TV isn't nearly as powerful as the top of the line phones these days.  Maybe try a reset...

Stop using that, it's Chinese spyware. Switch to Solid Explorer.
So I did what you said here, Solid Explorer is fairly similiar, however with ES explorer it was pretty simple to tap into my LAN, with Solid Ex. It doesn't seem to be able to do that. Or I completely missed it, but I've been through every menu twice.

The dev has a free plug in to support FTP and LAN access

I've been noticing my Pixel XL gets pretty hot on the top portion of the screen, basically down to the bottom of the glass area on the back. Anyone else have that issue. I tried run in safe mode for a few minutes to see if it make a difference. Maybe it did, hard to save for sure. Any tips to track down an offending app if that is the issue?

Also I took some zoomed in video tonight and was kinda disappointed. Picture was pretty blurry and the zoom not so great. Any ideas what I was doing wrong? A quick Google shows others are having problems with grainy video.

And this is why I'm jumping on the OPPO gameplan. Buy an updated phone with mostly top-notch specs and pay half the price as the big boys. And you can upgrade phones every year and probably recoup half of the total payout if you sell the old one.
what's this now?

OK FBGs, I have an android app request.

My auto reject list is full. I want an app that will check to see if the calling number of an incoming call (not text) is in my contacts & if it is not, silently send it to voicemail (or silently answer & play a call rejection message).

BTW, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 on At&t

What say ye?

Pixel owners, I downloaded the fingerprint gestures app and for certain functionality, like scrolling & sleep, have (root) beside.  Do I need to root the phone or something?

Pixel XL still runs hot. Any others with same issue?
Finally went to Verizon store on Monday and explained my issues and am going to get a replacement today via FedEx. Not new but certified like new. Kind of annoying but if it gets rid of the heat and weird screen issue I'll be happy. I really hope it doesn't act exactly the same.

Do you guys use screen protectors. I haven't for years as I've liked the look and feel of exposed glass. I'm wondering if I need one for the pixel XL though. Maybe that will help. Maybe the gorilla glass is inferior or something compared to my note 4.

For those that do screen protectors any recommendations? Tempered glass or something else?

Yeah I went with tempered glass on mine.

This one has served me well. No scratches at all so far and extremely clear. And it comes with a replacement to boot. It does have a pretty significant raised edge but so does my case so that doesn't really bother me at all.

This pixel runs just as hot. ?

WTF.

Frustrating.

I was wondering if someone could do me a favor and download an app like cooler Master and let me know what your phone runs at? Mine easily moves into high 90s and low 100s from average use like web browsing and similar not intensive apps. My fingers are not happy. Trying to figure out if they all run this way or if I'm just unlucky.

No idea what to tell you. I run an app called Sensors Multitool. I just played Candy Crush for about a half hour and afterwards it showed me at 98 degrees. Didn't feel hot at all, just a bit warm as if my hand had been holding it for a half hour. Honestly, what are your expectations?

Thanks. All I know is the phone is messing my fingers up. Never had such issues with my note 4 and I was a pretty heavy user.

@cap'n grunge Those Pixels come with some baked in 24x7 live support from google, right?  I recall it being one of the big selling points of the device.  You need to get in touch with them when your phone is getting hot... maybe they can see what's up.  They can prob send you an actual new replacement if needed to.  That refurb replacement from VZW was a load of BS.

Alternately, check out a device specific forum on Reddit or Android Central (or XDA if you are up for it) for others with potentially similar issues.

Yesterday my 5 month old nexus 6p shut off for about 6-7 hours, black screen, no activity when charging, tried everything and it wouldn't turn on.  Last night I finally got it on but the damage was done.  I ordered a pixel XL, should be here in 2-3 weeks.  Embarrassed how attached I am to the stupid phone, that was a long 6-7 hours.

Given your 6P issue... what is your overall opinion of Huawei?

I recommend yootech accessories on Amazon.  They copy all the brand name accessories for much cheaper. I'm happy with the screen protector I have been rocking since Fall.  No scratches, just like the glass.

I hate to admit this      BUT after using my phone now for a few months I can kind of see how you guys dislike anything not "true google".   I mean I actually like some of the stuff touchwiz offers but I kind of at least "get it" now :bag:
