Note4 has been acting weird lately.  I know it is most likely just due to age, and probably needs a new battery.  However, it will shut off when the battery gets down to about 25% power remaining.  Tried restarting, hasn't changed it much.  It is not hard to deal with and I just know I am closer to zero if I get below 30%, but it is annoying to have essentially lost a quarter of the battery capacity.  Also, as soon as I plug it in, it doesn't show it is starting from zero, the charge light does say that it is at 25% of whatever it was when it shut off.

Yeah, I've had lots of problems with my N4.  Just bought a new battery a couple weeks ago which has improved battery life (duh)  But, the random reboots still happen though not as frequently.  It also has issues with bluetooth randomly not working or wifi not connecting, both which require reboots.  At this point I'm just limping along until the S8 gets unveiled and hoping that will be the answer I'm looking for.

I hate to admit this      BUT after using my phone now for a few months I can kind of see how you guys dislike anything not "true google".   I mean I actually like some of the stuff touchwiz offers but I kind of at least "get it" now :bag:
Just curious, but as someone who has used both what made you "get it"?

No device I've ever owned has run worse after a year than my "true google" Nexus 6 and Nexus 9.

Any thoughts on this? Trying to decide if it's worth it or not.
A gizmodo article said if you use over 8gb per month it's probably worth it.  I have been kind of bouncing back and forth between the 8 & 12, and using the roll over.  I'll probably just switch to this.  It's only 3-4 bucks more than whichever one I'm on now.

I have 3gb now and barely use that, but mainly because I limit myself. If I had unlimited, I'd probably stream music at my desk all day. I don't now, because that 3gb would go quick.

Video is the killer for me.  I can listen to music all day, and don't notice any unusual spikes.  Click on a few links to YouTubes, and I kill a gig in no time.

The fact that the only software/apps on my phone are the ones I want and put there.  Like I said I actually like a couple of things that TouchWiz did better than native google but I understand the though behind have a "pure"  experience

By far my favorite case for my 6P is the Rhinoshield bumper case. I have dropped it several times without a issue, its incredibly thin and light and stills shows off the sweet brushed metal "Nexus" design on the back.
So I just got this. I'm torn.  I like that it minimizes the weight.  Just feels a little weird, with thick sides and nothing else.

Need to get used to it

This pixel runs just as hot. ?

WTF.

Frustrating.

I was wondering if someone could do me a favor and download an app like cooler Master and let me know what your phone runs at? Mine easily moves into high 90s and low 100s from average use like web browsing and similar not intensive apps. My fingers are not happy. Trying to figure out if they all run this way or if I'm just unlucky.
FWIW, I don't use the CPU temperature function on my CleanMaster app cuz it always hovers around 113-114 degrees. The back of my N5X rarely feels warm and the screen doesn't ever feel different.

I'm at this point but with the Note 3. The Note 7 was the answer to my prayers until it wasn't.  I hope to be able to limp along to the N8. Fingers are crossed.

Cleanmaster (much like everything from Cheetah Mobile) is crapware... spend some time on Google and I bet you wind up uninstalling it.

90% of it's content seems to be ads. What a better free app to clean junk files, and refresh the cache?

Limping along to the S8 with my N6 as well.

Would like to get something now but these Android phones turn to crap after they're about a year old so no way I'm going to start with one that's already half way there.

So my S7 updated itself to 7.0 last night. So far today I had to uninstall and reinstall my Kindle app because it would start up but not allow me to interact with the books I have, and now the Chik-Fil-A app isn't working. At first it just gave me a blank screen where nothing worked, then I reinstalled that and it hung up when trying to log in and then went back to the blank screen.

Anyone else have lots of problems with apps after upgrading to 7?

My S7 Edge updated last night,  I haven't had any problems yet that I know of.  I just checked my kindle app and chick fila and they both seemed fine.

My Kindle app didn't stop working until I backed out of my book to the library.

The Chik-Fil-A app started working after a while. It just seems weird that I had problems with them the day after the upgrade.

I have the OnePlus 3T and have been very happy moving on from my N5.  One recent issue has to do with the DashClock widget.  I use this on my main home screen to track/access Gmail, OneWeather, and texts from Messenger.  It has always worked flawlessly.  Now, however, it shows me when a new SMS comes in, but doesn't reset the counter to zero once I have read it.  It will only reduce the count if I delete the actual text thread, which I don't want to do.  I did try rebooting and nothing happened.  This happens whether I am using the regular SMS extension that came with DashClock or the Messenger extension for DashClock.  Anybody with ideas on how to fix this?

I'm still using the Samsung Galaxy s4 Mini international edition.

It's running kit kat, and it still does everything I'd want a phone to do.

Just thought you should know

Chick-fil-A app? LOL
My kids told me about it Saturday.  I put in all 4 of their orders and mine,  paid,  went to the restaurant,  walked to "order pick up", 2 minutes later I'm walking out with my huge order.  Usually at this one that whole ordeal would have taken over 30 minutes and I'd have had to deal with chaos.

Also if you use it enough you start getting free stuff.

Use this every Saturday morning. No lines but I do have to go inside.

You can use it at the drive-thru, just have them scan the QR code at the window. You don't use it to order that way, so it doesn't save you time, but you still get points toward free food and you can still use it to pay.

My Note 3 is still running like a champ. I've had a couple extra batteries almost since the beginning, and even when I don't swap them out, I don't seem to have to charge any more often than my wife & daughter with their iPhone 6 and 6s.

I barely ever have random reboots, although I did have to reboot it a few days ago for the first time in a long time when the sound wouldn't come back on after I took it off mute.

Knock on wood, of course.

I think the only thing that ever bothers me at all is the occasional long time to open an app (especially annoying when it's the camera app).  But with the great big screen, swappable batteries, wireless charging, and SD card option when I need it, I'm good with this thing.

Still, I was tempted for the first time with the N7 (partly thanks to people like belljr saying how great it was).  I'm hoping that Samsung goes all out with the N8 to make up for that disaster and try to get back the people they lost. The Pixel didn't really do enough to get me, but maybe the second generation of that wows me.

Note 7 was fantastic. There was nothing wrong with my note 3 either. But the note 7 and now my pixel. It's night and day

I worked Google I/O last year in Mountain View. One thing I can say, money doesn't seem to exist with Google. They spend the hell out of it.

Yeah my N3 is still hanging in there but it's definitely showing it's age. I'm with you though, I'm hoping Samsung comes through for us with the N8.

Finally got annoyed with how crummy performance has become on my Nexus 6 and ordered a Oneplus 3t last night.  The website said it would take a week to get here but today DHL called and said it would arrive tomorrow.  Pretty impressive for international free shipping.

This is my first non-nexus in about 5 years.  Hopefully I like it.

Still really liking my Nexus 6. Much, much more reliable than I had with OnePlus One.  OTOH, my sister has OnePlus 3 and really likes it.

XDA just published an article basically making the case that the 3t is essentially the new Nexus... I'm sure you'll love it.

Eta: Did you splurge for the 128 GB storage option?

Nah, I'll never use that much storage... been getting along fine with 32GB, figured 64 was more than plenty

I love my Note 4, but for the fact that its GPS is pretty crappy. Where it will lose signal fairly often.

With the Note 7 fiasco, and  reading through this thread, I think I'll avoid Samsung and go with a less expensive but just as good large phone when my Note dies.

You have almost made it to the Note 8, might as well hold out.  I jumped to the Pixel XL, but I'm sure the Note 8 will be fine.

I'm not sure, I figured whatever next model they release every fall would be 8...  I think they lined it up with the regular galaxy.
My understanding is that are going to release the s8 and s8+ at the same time.  I assume that from a marketing stand point that the "note" series is dead.  I'm not sure about the stylus.

There is rumor of refurbished Note 7 going to be sold.

They finally released the cause of the issue.   The first issue was exactly what they thought.   The second issue was caused by an issue with a different  battery manufacturer caused a problem when rushing production.  They introduced an issue with their rush.

Samsung crushed that rumor yesterday.

In other rumor news, a Note 8 is still expected for later this year (even with the giant S8+)... but it may not carry the Note moniker.

I went to the Verizon store tonight to upgrade my plan to unlimited.  I went from 8gb to unlimited data for pretty much the same price and when my wife's N5 gets paid off  ($175) my bill will go down  $29. Anyway,  the sales lady was asking about my home Internet and offered me This for  $20 more dollars a month  to replace my TIME WARNER Internet.  Now I use SlingTV and Amazon Prime and was wondering if this thing would work for me. I have my doubts but really have no clue.  My N3 doesn't get the best reception in the house. I have to have my phone in certain spots to get reception but my wife's N5 gets pretty good reception throughout.  I have a metal roof which I think is part of the problem.  Can anyone offer any input on this?
