Boldin Injured (1 Viewer)

 The Horror!! Why do I think the Dolphins will get the first pick in next years draft, followed by the Cards? Lets all keep our fingers crossed for Boldin. Everything I hear is this is one quality kid.
I would flip-flop the fins and cards. At least the Fins have a def, the Cards have nothing.

Denny Green:Boldin knee "locked up" jogging. Carted off, will get an MRI tonight. It was right knee (college injury was left knee). May have had an MRI on the right knee yesterday, Denny wasn't sure. Knee is not "locked up" anymore.
Sounds like he had some loose pieces floating in that knee. That would explain the 'locking' of the knee. If that's the case, nothing a quick little probe and a couple of weeks rest won't take care of.
This is also very possible. Especially if they had the knee moving later on.

I don't know how many times I need to say this, but again, it is a dynasty league, several years old, and I acquired Boldin, Shipp, McCown and Thomas Jones off waivers in the past 2 years, for nothing. I traded for Boston. Regardless, I was very much liking the Cards chances to have a nice season this year. Talk about crap luck.

Update: I'm listening to KDUS 1060 here in Phoenix right now. Mike Jurecki reporting that Boldin was seen walking to chow with a noticable limp, but no crutches or knee brace. He said Boldin was walking around preparing for his workout when his knee just locked up. They were speculating that it could be some loose bodies or something that might require arthoscopic surgery.I thought this was promising news. Obviously, nothing will be known for sure until the medical report comes back. But, a scope shouldn't put him out for the season. Probably just the remainder of pre-season.

YOu can tear an ACL and walk with a limp. I believe Olandis Gary played a 2nd half of football on a tear of an ACL.. I would not jump to conclusions.

Curtis Joseph played an entire playoff game in net with a torn ACL. You can walk and do lots of things. The big key is you have crappy lateral movement, can't cut essentially.

Yeah but can you tear your ACL "just walking around"?

Associated PressAug. 10, 2004 12:00 AMFLAGSTAFF -- Arizona wide receiver Anquan Boldin, the 2003 NFL offensive rookie of the year and the Cardinals only Pro Bowl player, injured his right knee Tuesday morning while loosening up for practice and was carted from the field. Boldin experienced soreness in the same knee Monday and sat out a morning practice but participated in an afternoon walkthrough. His tests results weren't immediately available. "His knee locked up on him, and so we're running some extensive tests," coach Dennis Green said after the first practice. "It's not locked up now." Green said the injury was freakish. "He wasn't running or anything," the coach said. "He was just actually not even hardly jogging, so I'm sure that something's going on inside, but we won't know until all the tests are done. They're running a different type of tests, since it is unusual." Last season, Boldin set an NFL rookie record with 101 receptions, had the most yards receiving (1,377) by a rookie since Houston's Bill Groman in 1960 and established a franchise rookie record with eight scoring grabs. "When you lose a guy like 'Q,' lose a Pro Bowl player, you lose a big piece of the puzzle," running back Emmitt Smith said. "We don't know what the situation is. I don't know if we lost him and how long we lost him for. It could be a matter of days." Boldin had reconstructive surgery on his left knee his junior season at Florida State. The injury reduced his draft value and allowed the Cardinals to pick him in the second round 37 places behind first-round selection Bryant Johnson of Penn State, another wide receiver and the 17th player taken last year. Johnson, who had 35 catches as a rookie, got a stress fracture in his right foot during summer workouts, has been wearing a protective boot and is about three weeks away from going full speed. Until Boldin and Johnson take the field, the featured wideout will be Bryan Gilmore, a backup who impressed Green in minicamps. "I wanted to contribute with him," Gilmore said about Boldin. "I'm going to contribute regardless, but I'd much rather have him and BJ and Fitz (rookie Larry Fitzgerald) on my side." Last weekend, the Cardinals lost running back Marcel Shipp with a dislocated ankle and broken leg, potentially a season-ending injury. Green said Saturday it would take Shipp two to three months to recover from surgery to insert pins to support his fractured left fibula. The coach wanted to wait and see how Shipp progresses before deciding whether to place him on injured reserve, a designation which would end the fourth-year ball carrier's season

You guys are glass half full types, aren't you? :suds: OK, OK. Before we get two thousand takes on how guys can run up stairs with knee injuries, let me say that you are absolutely right. Let's wait for the official word. I just thought the tidbit on how the injury happened (during walking and not working out/playing) and the fact that the guy was motoring on his own without help was somewhat useful information.

Man, if it wasn't for bad luck, the Cardinals would have no luck at all. They've got to be one of the worst professional sports franchises in U.S. history - be it by ineptitude or misfortune.I'd say I feel for all the Cardinal fans, but I don't know if there are any. But as a Boldin fan, I'm hoping it's nothing serious.

I've torn ligaments in my knee and they were not very painful at all. The dislocations and torn cartilage I've also had hurt a hell of a lot more when they happened.Based on my own knee injuries and from what I've read about Boldin's injury, I'd guess it's cartilage/loose bodies. My knee would lock up a few times a day during rehab for the dislocations and cartilage damage before they went in and cleaned it up. I remember one really bad one that really didn't hurt as much as my yell might have made it seem. It was more of a yell of being scared and thinking my knee is totally gone and I'll never run again.People may be hoping for it to be cartilage damage so he can play this year, but cartilage damage can easily lead to osteoarthritis.

Boldin experienced soreness in the same knee Monday and sat out a morning practice but participated in an afternoon walkthrough. His tests results weren't immediately available.
Hmm. Suddenly doesn't sound all that serious.

i had an ACL tear injury cause my knee to lock up. in fact, i couldn't get to "unlock" for a couple days and it required an "emergency" repair. ....it could be worse than just the meniscus.

Out for the year. Bank on it.
In other Late Breaking News:Soothsayer extraordinarie, JJ Evans, has looked at his Magic 8 Ball.

His Press Release has been eagerly awaited by NFL fans around the country.

One breathless groupie was heard to exclaim "He's better than Madame Cleo and he really is from Jamaica. We love you JJ"

Besides proclaiming Boldins' as yet undiagnosed injury to be season ending, JJ also states that William Green will lead the NFL in rushing yards, TD's and Pass Receptions + Yardage, for all RB's in the 2004 season.

i'm not going to give my opinion on what this might be as i can't seem to find my 8-ball, but i don't think this kills the cardinals season, if boldin is out for the year.in other news, this would save mine. hehe said the bryant johnson owner.

In other useless news, if you are relying on Bryant Johnson to save your season, your problems are much worse than mine - said the bitter Anquan Boldin owner.(shameless Peens ripoff) Get Some :excited:

Pretty apparent JJ Evans and Raider Fan missed out on Boldin last your or in an early draft this year, and now wish ill on him.

According to the cards website, he had an MRI on the knee before the afternoon practice yesterday and the tests came back fine. Wouldn't some sort of pre-existing loose particles or cartilage damage or something like that have showed up in yesterdays tests?

Word on the street is Boldin, Boston, Janson, Manning, LT2, and Holmes all were told to not go on a plane by Ricky Williams. He had a premonition. The plane exploded and they all survived. Now death is following each player and taking them out one by one ala Final Destination.

Huh? I read they did the MRI TODAY and hven't gotten results yet...

Anyone heard from JAA's wife on this one. She could clear this up in a heartbeat. That woman is freakin' MONEY!!!Paging JAA!!!!

Look at the practice notes from yesterday, Monday, August 9th.
The Cardinals were missing one of their key offensive players in Pro Bowl receiver Anquan Boldin, who sat out the morning practice with swelling in his knee. An MRI this afternoon on the knee was negative and Boldin returned to the field for the afternoon workout.

Crazy... so Monday he was having problems, had an MRI, it came out OK & he practiced.Next day his knee locks up.This supports the theory that it's a piece of something loose in there that just needs to be removed. If it was ligament damage, they would have probably caught it with yesterday's MRI.Of course, he could have also torn a ligament when his knee locked up today... but that's hard to do just jogging, unless he fell weird when the knee gave way.Who knows though. I went through the whole blow out your knee experience. Ended up being the ACL. One of things I learned is that a routine MRI doesn't catch everything, especially when their not looking for something specific.

Regarding when Boldin was walking in the cafeteria:<KFFL> : Updating ongoing reports, Darren Urban, of the East Valley Tribune, reports Arizona Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin (knee) walked to the team cafeteria under his own power Tuesday, Aug. 10.

Me too.
If they have an MRI result and haven't released the results, then those results are either bad or inconclusive. I hate to side with JJ, but my money is on Bad if they keep this info to themselves for much longer....

Interesting, or maybe ouch is the better word. I never heard of that happening to anyone before. Just goes to show how every knee injury is different no matter what other similarities there may be.

I would llike to just formally apologize to all Anquan Boldin owners out there. I kept him for the 2004 season and undoubtedly had a hand in this injury. :wall: :wall: The eerie thing about it is that I seem to make a post like this almost every year.

Hmm. Suddenly doesn't sound all that serious.
That is referring to the minor injury that kept him out of yesterday's morning practice not the potentially big one he had one suffered today.
That seemingly minor injury of yesterday is more than likely what caused the "locking up" today. My guess is that he tore his acl yesterday and during his walk around today he dislocated his knee which actaully acts as if it's locked up. This is very painful. After having it put back into place (which is done by someone pulling on your leg until it pops back) you can walk around as if there's not much wrong. There is no more severe pain nor swelling of any kind. Just a slight soreness and a tendency to favor it a little. This has happened to me on many occassions since I blew my knee out several years ago and never had it repaired.

If he'd dislocated his knee, wouldn't they have reported it as a dislocation?Where's JAA's wife?

They said he had an MRI yesterday... if he tore his ACL then, you'd think they would have caught it then. The fact that we've heard no results yet & the fact that he had a clean MRI yesterday leads me to believe, they just don't know what the problem is yet. If that's the case, that is probably good news since generally speaking, the worse an injury like this is, the easier it is to diagnosis. Always exceptions though (Edge).
