There's a way, but it may take until AugustI don't see anyway we finish this draft.
If everyone stays committed, I want this to be drawn out. A great football fix. There's a way, but it may take until AugustI don't see anyway we finish this draft.
Is it really bad if it takes a long time? I signed up for this expecting a two month commitment at least. There's a way, but it may take until AugustI don't see anyway we finish this draft.
A little early on Patterson, maybe? Still a LOT of proven talent at WR out there.6.32 Harrison smith, s7.1 cordalle Patterson, wr

7.2 Broncos select Jurrel Casey, DTBuilding those lines. Skill positions can come into play later. Bryant was huge in getting pressure on QBs, whereas Casey was 100% a run stopper. That's a nice pairing for me, to start a DLine this late.

Seconded.I say if we don't hear from Warrior today we let Nucker101 take over.
With the 7.7 pick, the Colts select OLB Sean Weatherspoon
Pairing up with his former LB partner Curtis Lofton, the speedy young OLB will roam all over the field making plays for us. One of the best young 4-3 OLBs in the league, IMO.
Tony Romo, QB
Vincent Jackson, WR
Joe Haden, CB
Cameron Wake, DE
Michael Johnson, DE
Curtis Lofton, MLB
Sean Weatherspoon, OLB
Like the pick.HellToupeeOk, who are we waiting on now?

I'm convinced if this draft was done by 16 clones of me and 16 clones of ExaltedOne, 53 rounds would be done already.

That's what she said.I've been quick on the trigger...
One of my favorite picks so far. I'm with Cosell. The most important and best player on arguably the best defense in the nation. Outside of Clowney, I think he was the most disruptive lineman in the SEC this year. He was the difference between winning and losing a game or two for the Gators. He's an anchor player at the next level, in my opinion, and a steal this late. Plenty of players picked who couldn't get anywhere near a top 5 pick in return, and Floyd will be a top 5 pick.'AwesomeAuger said:6.25 Chiefs select Sharrif Floyd, DECosell has stated he thinks Floyd should go 1.1 in the real draft and compared him to Watt. I honestly wasn't expecting him to last to this point of the draft. He helps my young defense get even younger and more talented. Calais Campbell, Dareus, and Floyd should provide fits for all offensive lines in the league.
The NFL doesn't share your thinking. At all.Shaun Alexander won the MVP and couldn't fetch a 2nd rounder. Moss was moved for a 5th. Harvin just went for a late 1st+. The Jets can't get a 1st rounder for one of the best CBs of the last 10 years. Unless you're a QB, NFL teams aren't trading much for you.Taking proven vets with less upside than rookies is a lot safer route when building a franchise .You already know the vets can play at the NFL level and handle the NFL lifestyle. If we did this thing years ago guys like Heath Schuler , Ryan Leaf , and so on would have killed teams. The devil that you know .....
Should the Colts have passed on Luck because of Ryan Leaf or David Carr? The Cardinals on Fitzgerald becasue of Charles Rodgers? What does Dorsey have to do with Floyd?Think I just reread a description of an LSU lineman from a few years back.......
But how much of that is about salary differences between vets and rookies? The NFL doesn't share your thinking. At all.Shaun Alexander won the MVP and couldn't fetch a 2nd rounder. that has A LOT to do with it , the rookie scale is something teams are after. I wasn't really referring to a real life scenario involving the slaray cap and such....more of what we are doing here in a mock.... no player being drafted is being analyzed regarding his contact.Alexander was over rated and everyone knew that...Moss had issues already and was aging. Harvin for a first is fine but that was spurred becuase of not willing to sign him.all about the money....thankfully , we are not doing that. But how much of that is about salary differences between vets and rookies? The NFL doesn't share your thinking. That is a good point for today. But a few years ago it wouldn't have explained it. Eric Berry was the highest paid safety in the league before playing a down. Stafford and Bradford got crazy contracts. Just to pick a random player, not that I don't think this was a bad pick, or anything. But what do you think the Cheifs would do if the Jets offered Antonio Cromartie for the #1 overall pick? They'd laugh, rightfully so. Yet, Cromartie was getting a lot of love in this thread being drafted where he was. Yet, I doubt any NFL team would trade a 1st rounder for him. Let alone a top 5 pick. Floyd is a top 5 pick. But how much of that is about salary differences between vets and rookies?
Sure, for the last 2 years. That doesn't explain the long history of player for pick deals in the NFL.that has A LOT to do with it , the rookie scale is something teams are after.

Again, that's not the case. 1st round draft picks were still more valuable than this draft is giving them credit for before the pay scale changes. Trent Richardson went in the 2nd round, as a top 3 pick at RB. Floyd is going top 3 and was drafted in the 6th.Tyron Smith was drafted a long time ago, and hasn't lived up to his top 10 pick. He's less valuable than Floyd. The Cowboys would love to turn him into a top 3 pick. Seeing how high defensive lineman went in this draft, Floyd is one of the best picks in the draft.all about the money....thankfully , we are not doing that.
Remember Terrell Davis, Gary, Portis...If you have a good enough line, 1/2 of the backup RBs in the league would be the next Foster.'ExaltedOne said:I agree on Forte but Foster is an elite RB who can grind out a defense and score TDs. There are several teams now without any offensive skill players. I don't know how they expect to win games with just an offensive line and/or defense. You win by scoring more points than the other guy. There are 20 teams without a single WR. Every team needs at least two. High scoring offenses often have 3+There are 20 teams without a single RB. Every team needs at least 1. When you have lesser RBs, you may need 2.There are 7 teams without a QB. There are maybe 3 or 4 that might be able to manage an offense, and the rest are guys we know suck.Once these teams decide to switch from their D to their O, these guys will go fast. I'd rather have one of the best guys already in-hand than be fighting for scraps.I'm sure you feel the same way about o-line, defense, etc, but there are still a lot of good guys out there and far fewer teams without anyone at those positions.
This doesn't make sense to me; maybe I am not understanding what you're saying. The pick is as valuable as the player you select. Floyd will be a top 3 pick, thus is worth a top 3 pick. Just my opinion, but every team that drafted a RB(at least) over this kid made a mistake that real GMs wouldn't have. Same goes for Milner. The pick is what is valuable....not a player .The ability to have any option they want is the key ....It would be different if KC took Geno Smith and traded him to NYJ ....
I'm not even drafting and I say "SKIP HIM!"Time to skip Helltoupee? He's had longer than Warrior got. Or does this count as the weekend so therefore no clock?
This is a really fun thread. Should be done yearly, at least. That makes sense. I just think draft position and NFL trade value is some interesting context to apply to this draft. There have been a lot of people drafted who couldn't get a 2nd rounder in NFL trade, over 2 very likely top 5 picks (Floyd/Milner). I understand that this isn't exactly the same as the NFL, but (again, not to pick on anyone, I could have picked plenty of players) it is highly unlikely that an NFL GM would take Matt Forte or Andre Johnson over top 5 talent as the DT/CB spots. I just think this draft is a bit more ready to invest in late prime vets than the NFL, with the exception of the QB spot. You have to keep in mind that when an NFL team drafts a player, they have the ability to coach that player and have a lot of faith in their ability to do so. We don't have that same luxury, so at least for me, knowing who is currently coaching that player helps. I would probably be more likely to draft a rookie after i know what team he will spend his key formative years with. (except that staffs change)
Yeah. Because we pay the same (nothing) for all the players. The NFL pays vets more, an is guaranteed to pay rookies less. I think you underestimate the importance of that. That makes sense.
